The timer was for a heat lamp. You turn that on so you're warm when you get out of the bath or shower.
Mirage has 4 big fluffy jumbo pillows per bed! I love that! Plus Mirage windows open too, from the bottom, a couple inches. You push the bottom of the window out.
Thks Bob for the tour! The room looked okay overall. I liked the shutters and that small lamp on the wall! Good view out the window, which opens, which was a surprise (never stayed there). Looking forward to the next vid!

Love the view .. i feel dirty just watching you in that room. The iPod clock is great, the dust on that is shocking.. I need one of these for my classic iPod, hahaha..
In 2011 the whole property had a major remodel. The decor was supposed to be modern and themed. All of it is from the 2011 renovations to the south Miami Beach theme they tried to go for lol
love the opening - tropicana - sean conory - 007 - iconic place on the strip. and the tub he's in looks more like a caesars tub - but i don't think caesars was even built when DIAMONS ARE FOREVER was made.

I love all the old 'historic' features in the room. I forgot about the little nib light switches.
Interesting to hear you say it'll be Bally's, as per the original news, as the news now is that it'll be torn down and the baseball field/arena is going in, in that location now.
I didn’t know Bally’s owned it. Either keep it the Tropicana and remodel or level it. I thought a baseball field was going in there.
First hotel I stayed at in Vegas - 2001.
That switch was for a heat light.
Tropicana was updated 10-15 years ago, not in the 90s. I think it looks OK for what it is.

A central raised area on the ceiling is called a medallion. Just saying.

Will be better as a ball park.. they haven’t kept up with it and it’s changed hands too many times. Would take at least half a billion to make it special again.
It's not going to be Ballys anymore, it's getting torn down to make way for new A's baseball stadium.

Knowing that The Tropicana is soon to be no more, especially with the likelihood that the Oakland A's are moving to Las Vegas soon and in that very location for the stadium, I don't think top cleanliness is their ultra concern right now, sadly.

They got the daylight saving time thing all backwards & wrong. Daylight savings time would work perfectly if it was switched around. Less daylight during the hot temps & more daylight during the cold weather. LOL
And ok crap, was that a bug in the shot with the discoloration headboard? Yikes. And that furniture looks exactly the same as when my wife & I stayed there back in the 80s & 90s. Call me anal but I don't ever put my clothes in any motel or hotel room draws. Great way to bring home bed bugs. I just leave my clothes inside my suitcase or put the dirty ones in a trash bag & keep it sealed, also in my suitcase. Nothing but my shoes touch the ground in hotels/motels. And if I was to go to Vegas (or most places) I'd bring Lysol & spray the bottom of my shoes. Besides also spaying most of the entire room. LOL.
That timer was a old heat lamp. This place was gross I wouldn't have stayed in there myself Bob bout you're more of an adventurer than I am. LOL
Hemingway, I also live out of my suitcase when I go to a hotel room. I also pull the sheets off the bed and check the mattress for bed bugs. If I can see under the bed, I check to make sure there is no dirty clothes, old food or a dead body 😂.
@@ellendoyle7247 I hear ya. I actually put a plastic sheet over the entire bed that I can throw out or leave there after sleeping on the bed. And I also put plastic liners sheets also on any chairs I intend to sit on. I hate staying in motel/hotel rooms that much. And no way in hell would I ever get in any hotel jacuzzi either. lol
I check every single hotel bed I stay in for bugs, it doesn't matter if it is high end or low end! Yeah, i agree daylight savings should go the opposite direction, the sun sets at like 4pm in Nevada in the winter its crazy!
The Trop was one of the best hotel options in the ‘80s and ‘90s. Price was right, a nostalgic feel of when the mob ran the town(as opposed to the soulless corporate bureaucrats) albeit with a little patina of time and a fabulous view of the strip from the 22nd floor.

The mystery box behind the toilet is where you place your urine sample, right? ☺ Looks identical to the cabinet at my doctors office. Idea: fill a small jar with pee, put it in there, see what happens. lol.
The timer is for a bathroom fan...or maybe it WAS at one time.

The missing knob in the bathroom with a timer on it would be used to vent the steam out.

new orleans and bahamas would actually be both wrong lol. it’s supposed to be south beach/havana. i see your confusion and agree with the new orleans type paintings. the “south beach” theme is a lot more recognizable in the main areas
