- The Genshin Impact anime was announced in September 2022, and we haven't received any news about it since. After looking around both at Ufotable and Hoyoverse, there is some stuff happening behind the scenes that is promising.

But in the Meantime they made 2 Seasons of Demon Slayer and dropping a Trailer for the upcoming Witch on the Holy Night Movie. The Decision of the Announcement was way too early.
Honestly, unless they've officially said that they dropped the project, I'm mostly optimistic about it. I'd rather have a quality anime released in a few years than a money grab one that's been clearly rushed. Here's to hoping we get an official update on it in the near future!
The problem though is that the Genshin side of things likes to make promises that they do not keep, they just say "its in the works" and you see no sign of it again. lol Switch, Events that stay playable, better communication with the playerbase, end game that isnt just like Spiral Abyss (from their interview where they said their main focus is to the casual playerbase).
Only improvements so far since HSR started, they're finally starting to slowly add more QoL. Even though as usual, its for their very casual playerbase.

@@MikeJXWT the only thing they said in works was switch. None of the other things you said was something they ever promised. If they get more money by appealing to the casual player base why would they go out of their way to cater to less then 5% of the playerbase lol. Hsr is NOT a casual game. It's main focus is the combat. Genshin's main attraction is the exploration which they never miss on. Although there are some reliable leaks about a new endgame mode in 4.7. but they're just leaks nothing confirmed.

The mondstadt quest honestly sucked and was quite short, I don’t know how the anime will make it work without changing a lot or adding a bunch of filler, or both
everyone in the industry says that an average anime of 13 episodes takes around 2-3 years to make. trigun stampede made by studio orange (which heavily uses 3D) was confirmed to take 5 years to complete so... you can get an idea why there is nothing after almost 2 years

they didn't prioritized genshin. HSR is getting anime for real. it is even being tagged as "MihoyoAnime". they could have done the same with genshin. they just didn't do it. and they have the ability as they have massive amount of budget so budget isn't really an issue for hoyoverse. even Hi3 is having these anime. its just Genshin didn't have it

They could just simplify the designs
Houseki no Kuni is another anime that had characters with a similar problem, the amount of intricate detail/shine in the character's hair was WAY too time-consuming to draw, so the studio producing it just turned it into a fully CGI anime. (before anybody says anything, the cgi was actually good okay)
I think it wouldn't be a bad idea if Genshin did the same thing, it'd be less time-consuming too

2 things.
1) At the end of the Genshin trailer, it sais "Long Term Project Launch". i think telling the Genshin story will be the best play.
2) there is big speculation about there being a Genshin 2 or part 2, becuase of all the hints they've been dropping - like openingly calling this game "Genshin part 1"

In a cyberpunk edgerunners interview they said that studio trigger couldnt start on edgerunners right away because they had contracts that they had to do first and edgerunners was added to the schedule. Knowing that every year since this was announced there was a demon slayer season kind of makes me think they haven't started Genshin yet and might not for a while.
Yeah, it's pretty apparent that Witch On The Holy Night and Demon Slayer are ahead of Genshin in the queue. Just because they've confirmed it's getting a production doesn't mean they're constantly working on it. They have other obligations to meet first. Anime get booked years in advance for production and UFOtable doesn't pump stuff out like A1 studio every season, they take their time which is why their production quality is so consistent. People just need to be patient. For all we know, Witch On The Holy Night might have more than 1 movie on the books too. Having played the visual novel myself, I know there's no way they can adapt the whole thing in a single movie, so while there's no official confirmation, I've always been expecting at least 2 if not 3 movies for that like what they've done for Fate Heaven's Feel.

What happened to the anime? Well they’re probably still working on it. Animation takes time, and they have no reason to rush it when the game itself isn’t even finished yet. Just be patient.
Well the thing is. I understand animation takes time, and i dont mind however long time they need. But, the real question is they couldve announce the project later when they re ready. Instead of announcing it years ago and keeping us in the dark with no updates on progress whatsoever

But there's been a handful of people saying that it got announced so early cuz it was already getting leaked by people working on it that Genshin and Ufotable made a deal to work together. There was two redditors that said they were told it was happening 2 weeks before the official announcement by a family member. Again this could just be Reddit being Reddit, but I wouldn't surprise me considering how easily stuff from Hoyoverse gets leaked.
I really don't think 48 episodes will be near enough to finish the genshin story

@@NovaX-wb8rq no it's just not enough. There's just so much stuff in the genshin story it's actually an insult to the story for a 48 episode anime. Remember that the fatui abyss and dainslief exist too, and that just can't be ignored.
If we take in account the full lore of genshin they can easily made 200+ eps but then again there's the rumor that will be about the archon war and past events wich is stonks in my opinion
@@Antithesismanifest Yea I'd say a good anime would be just the archon quests (plus dainslief quests) and maybe some notable story quests. You could argue for some big world quests but that might be pushing it.

Within 2 Years Ufotable produced 2 Seasons of Demon Slayer AND the Witch on the Holy Night Movie. Its pretty sus we didnt got anything yet
@@DantoriusDFirstly movie is much shorter than an anime series. Secondly, a second season is almost always easier to produce than the first cause they have their stuff already figured out and they didn't produce 2 seasons in 2 years, but season 2 in 2 years. Thirdly ufotable doesn’t have their whole staff working one one project at a time, they have a few projects running at the same time with different teams. So making two things at the same time doesn’t mean anything.
@@pumpkin6872 do you even watch a Ufotable Movie? Even if the Runtime is shorter doenst mean its less effort. Actually its even more. Look at the Mugen Train Movie and compare it with Season 1. Aside of the final 2 Episodes there Worlds between them. Even the Heavens Feel Movies still looking better than 90% of all Demon Slayer Episodes. Also i know that not everyone working on 1 Project but Ufotable infact is a relative Small Studio compared to the Rest of the Indusry like Wit, Mapa, A-1 Pictures.
Oh and btw Swordsmith Village Arc was last years Spring Season (April 9), Hashira Training Arc starting this May. So yes 2 Seasons wirhin 2 Years.
@@DantoriusD First of all, the Witch On The Holy Night movie is not even out yet. It doesn't even have a release date yet. Second, just because multiple seasons come out a year a part doesn't mean they only take a year to make. They're probably working on multiple seasons simultaneously for high profile shows like Demon Slayer so that they don't have more than a year or so between each season. Also, just because they've announced a Genshin anime doesn't mean that they're constantly working on it full force either. They have a queue of projects they've already taken on, which they need to finish first, and just based off of trailers and news, I'd say it's fairly safe to assume that there are at least a few Demon Slayer and Witch On The Holy Night projects ahead of Genshin in the queue. Having played the Witch On The Holy Night visual novel, I can say that they're for sure not adapting the whole thing into 1 movie either. While there is no official confirmation of multi part movies yet, I personally wouldn't be surprised if they at least have 2 in the works, and if it's anything like the Fate Heavens Feel movies, they probably would want to time multi part movies to come out without too long of a break in between (basically a year). So if a 2nd With On The Holy Night movie even exists, they'd probably be working on it even before the first comes out.
All that is to say, that high level production anime take a long time to make and most of them have already been worked on for a long time behind the scenes before you'll ever know about them. If Hoyoverse decided to announce the anime shortly after contracting it, which they probably did, then I'd expect it to be at least 3 to 4 years out from the initial announcement.

Like said above, they only made the movie that wasnt DS related so its quite obvious they do have their full staff on DS.
Otherwise we'd see more from them yet we dont.

@@kitetenjo4246i think that's just preference. Some frames(there is thousands of them in each episode) are better looking in the anime than in the manhwa. Igris is way cooler and better in the anime.

Knowing that ufotable's the one working on the Genshin anime, I'm not surprised if it would take many years before the Genshin anime releases. I remember waiting for many years for the continuations for ufotable's Tales of Symphonia anime adaptation. The first for the Symphonia OVA series was sometime during 2007, then another OVA series one was released sometime during 2010 to 2011 and the last part was sometime in 2011 to 2012 iirc.
Maybe Genshin's chapters for the anime would be released years apart like Symphonia's anime...
And let's not forget, other anime by other studios have taken ungodly times. Attack on Titan took what, 10 years to complete? For like 4 or 5 seasons (cant remember how many seasons it has)

Animation literally takes so much time to make and Ufotable is well known to not release any updates or any information to the public unless they are close to finishing their project.
Ufotable takes it slow and always has high quality. Their main priority right now is Demon Slayer, after that comes the new Type Moon anime and then Genshin(most likely)😊
There's something you didn't mention: both type-moon and ufotable are Japanese companies while Hoyoverse is Chinese, so there might be contract issues and censorship issues there, since it's not always easy for Chinese companies to partner up with Japanese companies for projects. Also, Hoyoverse has had issues with the Chinese government's media regulators in the past, so additional approvals could be needed for this partnership to go through...
Yostar is also Chinese company working with CANDYBOX Animation studio from Japan

MiHoYo has already collaborated with a Japanese animation company called Wonderium. They are responsible for the animated shorts for Honkai Impact 3rd

Honestly, I never thought that announcement was teasing an upcoming anime. I've always understood the Ufotable x Genshin teaser to announce a long lasting collaboration, in which Ufotable was going to be the studio supplying Genshin with animated shorts. As an example the Arlecchino animation, and the "scenery and sentiment" animations.
Mihoyo has already worked with big animation studios in the past like Production IG (Ghost in the shell, End of Evangelion, Eden of the east, Jin-Roh) for their Honkai Impact animations.
I could be wrong and there might really be an anime in the works, but as of right now I'd be quite surprised if that happened and I think everyone misunderstood that teaser.

The animated shorts you see are all from in house studio animation from mihoyo. Ufotable has it's own animation style, and we don't see any of them in their animated short. Hell they confirmed it themselves in the livestream that it will be about anime

@@KevinSatron I'm not quite sure how much "in-house" Mihoyo actually manages. If you check the credits for their Honkai impact animated shorts you'll see at least 6 studios credited on each one. Do you remember which livestream it was?

I remember looking at job applications a while back and they were looking for someone who had experience at adapting video games to film or such along those lines
its understandable if hoyo are wanting to wait for release closer to the release of all regions if the anime is based on travelers journey as we stil have yet to even see concepts for natlan, shezneya and kanrriah, the teaser looked beautiful and even if we have to wait for the anime for a few years yet, i do hope we're givena little positive news all we can do now is stay optimistic and wait.

Tbh i think they announced the collaboration to beat the potential rumors or leaks if they hadn't AND to gain more support from investors, but the work on the actual project hasn't started YET because Ufotable is working on other projects for the time being. I'd expect some news crumbs early next year at the earliest, with maybe a teaser by the end of 2025, and the actual anime release around the time Khaenri'ah releases (late 2026)
3:03 Mahoyo first released in 2012, not 2021. It took them to get proper EN release in 2022/2023.
I'd say the silence and no more trailers released due to time-sensitive information. Like some of the stuffs to be released in anime would spoil something on Natlan/ Snezhnaya plot line/ lore.

Some other things is that the voice actors need to agree with this idea, but the biggest thing being the script and plot of the story. Genshin Impact is a huge game and there is a lot in it, while something like Demon Slayer had a manga and they can go off that for the most part. It is a lot of time and effort with those two things, mainly, again, the script and plot.

We already have the timeline for the game. khaenri'ah is the final area for the teyvat saga.
4:48, most likely be khaenirah as the first trailer/teaser showcased each region archon and showed each region text, last one said khaenirah.
good video. just to let you know, one of genshin's first videos before the game came out showed what their road map looked like, there are way more places to come out. Snezhnaya is like the halfway mark or right before the halfway mark. the game will most likely go past 2027; and as long as they have a decent sized community and keep making money they will definitely go further than the original road map and add more to the story to make more money. it will be a matter if they ruin their own game or not.
I also think they’re wait for further development in Genshins story, when it was announced we only had Inazuma still although szn one would only cover mondstadt and liyue

My guess is that it will definitely take longer than most animes, Coming from a artist, they're definitely trying new film techniques. Aswell there might be business reasons why it cannot be released early, hoyoverse plans things out years in advance and prefer it to go accordingly, so the anime may have to wait until we get to some point of the game so noting is leaked to early, aswell the anime uses 3D mechanism from the game in which if they were to showcase tevat they need natlan and snezaya which is probably still being built (natlan is likely mostly built by the time I post this), aswell I did hear alot of discussions of them doing interviews to better innovate film industries.
I think they're definitely working on the anime however most details are not publicly disclosed, but we will get there eventually.
I predict it would be late 2024 or early 2025 because that's when natlan comes out and snezaya will be being built

One of the lead writers of Genshin impact actually revealed in an interview that with the Fontaine archon quest, only 1/3rd of genshin's story was complete, this mightnindicate that they might be planning to re,ease in terms of seasons, buit im not sure myself.

Most often gacha anime just retell the first few parts of the game story. Like we might just get a retelling of the Mondstat and probably Liyue archon quest.
Ever since they dropped the Arlecchino short Ive been coping that theyre seriously working on the anime
Between the With on the Holy Night movie and Demon Slayer they re pretty busy, good side is that Demon Slayer have like a season left or so not counting the current season so after that they can go full for Genshin. Im assuming they might still be working on the preproduction and might not start production after Witch on the Holy Night movie have been finished, the bright side is that any 3D model are already done from the game so there’s little work to be done with them unless they want to update textures. Ufotable might not exactly be a big stufio in amount of staff working since they don’t do many projects simultaneously like other animation studios, so we have to just wait patiently.
I know Rage of Bahamut done by MAPPA is also one of the stories from a game (card game), and interestingly enough you can not get ANY character from anime in the game (including both seasons). That said, since I didn't really played the game and I don't think you can actually unless VPN, but from a bit of info I found, the anime actually follows a different story thats related to the game. I actually quite liked this, and I personally hope Genshin does something similar. The biggest story that would need a lot of info for player base would be descenders.
Having a completely info from the arrival of first descender to the last one, including war with dragons, creating a new world and then a fall of that world, would be very good and informative video lore wise for player base, besides just hearing from it or reading it in the books that could be possibly false.
The other way I can see genshin anime going is by actually following the story of the abyss twin instead. This would also be a great way for players to see what the abyss twin experienced. Not to mention if the game is still going, you can kind of experience both twin's worlds, one through gameplay and another through anime.
As far it goes for manhua, there is very much high chance that they will pick that over all. Which I honestly hope they don't. And then there is always archon story quests, which I also hope they do not pick, not because the story is bad for archon quest and manhua, but because the other 2 that I mentioned earlier are more important to the game story and we also lack the most information out of.
Archon war is probably going to be a no, mostly cuz it would be all about action only. Which I don't think Genshin will want to go that way, unless they make a new MC who also somehow travels Tayvat so we can see all of the archons wars, but again, I don't see that happening.
My train of thought is that there will be no anime, but animated shorts (look at the Arlecchino one) in anime style

When i saw the anime for arlecchinos past a few days ago, it made me think of the anime.
since they updated us, and even gave us a lil teaser i think we're getting the anime in a year at least, maybe right after natlan or snezhnaya

Actuallt the Khaenri'ah chapter doesn't actually have a number. In the Teyvet Preview its called "Khaenri'ah: Chapter ???" so we might get more chapters between Snezhnaya - Khaenri'ah and the chapters would probably be about the Archon War/ Cataclysm etc. since re-telling their story would complicate things for the players.
My theory is that they'll release the anime towards the end of the Teyvat storyline since it's supposed to be about the time before the Cataclysm iirc so massive lore bombs.

Im pretty sure they have stated somewhere that the anime takes place in the past, and since Teyvats past is basically the main point of mystery and the whole story relies on us not knowing what actually happened and discovering these secrets and lost truths,I honestly wasn't expecting to really see it being released until Natlan or maybe even Snezhnaya were already over and done with, simply because releasing this anime would be just releasing so much information that people could connect and theorize over as well as just lifting this air of mystery and unknown.
Now they would have a solid "canon" past instead of retellings from some characters and dubiously legitimate evidence (game interface itself included, since the info we get in archives is also affected by Irminsul alterations), and while there is a chance the anime could be carefully crafted to not include anything from the present day or affairs or anything that would reveal too much, I personally highly doubt that for the simple reason that it would be unappealing and unsatisfying, imagine making a whole anime about genshin and just not including the story, or hints, and revelations, which they notoriously just put everywhere even in the most obscure dialogues or furnishing item descriptions, it would be both out of character and just disappointing. Also the mere fact that the siblings are included in the trailer and their past is like THE mystery so anything related to their past could completely change a lot.

I think its because since genshin impact story will take many Years to end than if the anime episode release date is usual as week per episodes, then it will finish very fast and people who watched the anime will demand season 2 as soon as possible which is hard for the developers cuz they have first animate the game story and lore and test run it then they have to design character and then release the game and then they will start the project of making the anime. So its a long process thats why miuoho probably gonna take time before releasing the anime 😊

I think that since it's an official announcement of the anime that's a collab between two big sides , big anime studio in Japan and a big games company , it's definitely coming and it's not gonna be cancelled , i think it's just taking time cuz it's hard to make good quality animations and bcz it doesn't want to catch up with the game story , so it's taking a while to come out , probably after one or two more years , or even more , slowly but surely situation yk , i personally prefer it to take a lobg time but give great results than to be Rushed and not that good , I'm just a little worried about the adaptation , i want it to be just like in the game , I don't want the plot to change or the characters character to change and all , fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Ufotable said that they were focusing on ending Kimetsu's proyect, but they were working in other proyects on the side lines and when they are DONE with Kimetsu they will start to go full steam with these other proyects (one of these "side" proyects were the last heaven's feel movie and they already finished that so...), back when they said this they hadn't announced the collab with neither genshin nor the another collab with type moon, so I know it will get out eventually, UFOTABLE is one of the very few anime studios that can say "it will take the time that it takes, so you have to wait" and as they always deliver literal gold the producers and bussines partners have no other option but to wait, but usually when UFOTABLE says that they are gonna do it, they do it.

Ufotable never releases a new series before the series they are working on is finished. that's the reason why Ufotable only releases 1 series in 1 year, even for years. We just need to wait for Demon Slayer to finish and the Genshin anime to be released. From some information I got, Demon Slayer has 2 movies and 1 season left until it ends. Yesterday i noticed the anime release of blue archive which is lesser yet popular game thats aren’t that global for fans yet its already here compared to Genshin which is sad.

It's so annoying that people just ignoring the studios. BA anime was released by a studio designed specifically for gacha game adaptations. Ofc they'll release it faster than outsourcing to one of the most famous animation studios that is already in the middle of a project. Use your head!
