Yes, they really were trying a lot of different things. In the end, they decided to abandon some of the more zelda:botl-esque inspired mechanics.

And it wasn't great lol. I'm glad my bf bullied me into continuing to play because the start of the game was pretty rough. It barely had its own identity and the few good things about it felt like they were copied off of botw's homework. I'm really glad genshin learned to stand in its own two feet and really grew into an amazing title in its own right
Finding out there were multiple chests in the Mondstadt cathedral made my heart break. All those primos gone.
Don't worry, if you look closer you'll see there weren't any primos in them.

Tbh I feel like I’m the only person who prefers the new voice compared to the previous, yes it is annoying tbh but what I find more annoying is her attitude now, she seems kinda snobbish and bossy which makes her high pitch voice sound way more bothersome when combined with her snarky comments or high ego

@@Shadow82311 it was more low effort voice acting than now though. it is totally understandable if you prefer the old voice but it didn't seem like as much effort was put into them as there is in her voice acting now.
I swear, new players who obtain Hydro with their Traveler, are going to go to the Hydro Seal in Mondstadt and start spamming skills, just like we did with Barbara.

The triangle floating enemies in Dragonspine, that don't have names. They were scary back then. Now everybody forgot they ever existed

They had surprisingly low health
In addition to this:
1) I remember the first time I visited the Nameless Island using Kaeya. I thought it was just some random land they just fill in but it turns out there is an interesting history in it. You also get an achievement after setting foot so all that ice bridging pays off.
2) The "Highly Dangerous" warning when entering an area with underleveled characters. First encountered it while climbing mountain on the area with an Anemo Hypostasis. And also when entering the bridge in Dragonspine.
I still get it in Fountaine

@@yixoProbably that one giant hydro slime we fight but I don't remember where. There should be a cutscene about it so you can search on UA-cam.

I'm not changing va's over one character because then that ruins the characters that i actually like the english cast of which is everyone besides paimon. People have volume controls on their devices they can turn it down when she talksbturn it up when someonr else talks.

Isn't it kind of sad how some of the most interesting and unique quests/bossfights are this early in the game? I didn't even remember doing them...
that last one had me locked out of co-op for months! I almost quit because I had no idea what I was doing and was severely under leveled and I was locked in a " I need to level Eula but in order to do that I need to level Yanfei, but to level Yanfei I need to level Noelle, in order to level Noelle I need to figure out how to fight her boss and level Rosaria, in order to level Rosaria...." loop and It just spiraled. I eventually found some UA-cam guides to help me but it was rough between AR 20-30 without co-op.

i just needed the game to stop me from playing with my friends for… 5 months i think? ..for me to finally gather the energy to check actually usable builds for a full team
before that i was happy being the one to do 1000 damage max and take 10minutes to kill an average dificult enemy
Nah we fr just cant forget we all spent hours climbing that blasted mountain with low stamina just to leave after a few moments of just the quest telling us Venti was Barbatos 😭
It was obvious by the first scene we see him in the woods. No normal person does that in fantasy worlds apart from someone important.
Mondstadt's music makes me so nostalgic. It makes me want to just stay back there forever.

World ascension domains. You forgot that. How painfull it was to do the electro hipostasis withoput pyro characters or with low lvl characters early on.
im so sad they got rid of it... i never had any idea how to build characters too so it would take weeks to do it sometimes but it did help out with showing that you need to put some effort into characters and to see if you were actually ready for the next world level
Things we all did at the start of playing Genshin that we don't do now
1. Talking to literally every single NPC we come across
2. Being super excited to unlock new areas
3. Spammed normal and charged attacks at the hydro sealed door with Barbara
4. Tried to burn the grass in Dragonspine with Amber to get warm
5. Tried to melt the ancient rhime in Dragonspine with Amber to unlock the statue of the seven
6. Having a hard time deciding which character's story quest you wanna play (Now we just wait and do whatever single story quest that comes with the update lol)
7. Made an ice bridge everywhere you go with Kaeya
8. Didn't even care about Artifacts, Weapons and Talents and just placed whatever character you liked on the team without caring for team comps
9. Tried to complete every single world quest
10. Waited for hours to get Genshin's data downloaded

Still do most of these. Who doesn't try to complete all the world quests? I still have tons of story quests to do and I still talk to most npcs.
Lol, most of these brought back plenty of nostalgia, except for the last one. That's because, for some reason, I didn't notice the puzzle there at those ruins for a very long time, and I only just did it yesterday at AR 56!
I noticed that I couldn't do it in co-op, but that didn't really affect me because the trial was fairly easy at my higher AR. I could see it being difficult in the early stages of the game.
Another forgettable thing from the early game: Anyone remember those hunting traps you get from Razor's quest? I never used mine, so I still have both as mementos.

Same here. AR 35 when I found it. Wasn't too difficult at with who I had plus I never play co op so I never even noticed that part.
4:33 Oh, I remember this! My potato ahh device was rlly lagging at this time, so the anemo barrier didn’t load. I got to unlock the Statue, then I crashed, soo I got it unlocked before defeating the eye of the storm 😅
I was still using my old phone, the ground was invisible like literally missing, have to wait 2 months before they fix it, everything was fine, the graphic was like seeing minecraft but it was doable but then I take control of Kaeya and he freeze the water as the tutorial and somehow cause the moving platform to disapear, got through it by sheer effort and then Rosalia cutscene plays in and she become basically a moving smudge, I forgot to mention Dvalin was also a moving smudge and basically fight him using guesswork and instinct

The last one, I really get you
Sooo annoying because first, I can't ask for help. Second, my characters aren't well built so I leave that quest for like a few months before I returned and managed to finish it
samee ! at that time i didn't know what Artifact is and how to level up character's so i struggle to fight it all alone using level 1 weapons i toke me a weeks to be able to finish the last challenge in upper chamber which had a time limit challenge and the time was so short to complete it
as for the second chamber i was able to sneak Lisa from the stairs bars and skip that challenge lol i was lucky

Jokes on you, I somehow didn't stumble in to that chlenge untill I get the compass for Lyue treasures and I was AR 55 at that time.

I'm glad i did that last challenge at high ar because I was a lazy explorer at the start and I didn’t even notice the coop thing because it only lasted a couple mins

For number 7, I actually had no idea it existed until I did Mona’s quest 😭
How to get that quest?
When you get to ar 32, you have a story quest section in your quest menu. You have to finish some prerequisite quests and you can unlock it with 1 key.

For me one of the most nostalgic things is hearing Lumine's voice, especially during attacks. After playing other characters for so long it brings back memories to hear her once in a while.
It makes me want to find a way to somehow make her anemo op to use her again 😂 Anemo has always been the only element I actually liked using with her

@@kharris274 I've heard her voice is just naturally high pitched, so it is harder for her to do the original Paimon voice even though the softer tone sounds natural to us as listeners.
The thing that weirds me the most when watching old genshin videos is that characters didn't have voice lines for opening chests or for when it starts raining

The downgrade in Archon quests is very noticeable, many unique things happened in Mondstadt
1 we had this same mechanic in the Pari event and kinda in their regular mechanics too, it's nice it was not forgotten forever
I started the game on all servers in all my accounts, so it was an absolute joy to re live these amazing beginning moments all over again many times ❤
I remember doing the quest to unseal the door like it was yesterday because I was so damn curious about it that it left me sad that it wasn't more epic.
I miss stormy Mondstadt SO much...

I missed the cooking event because an NPC was tied to the Chi of Yore quest and I was still too low level to beat it

oh my god, i remember most of these bc i started a new account a while back. but i haven’t done that challenge yet, but i still remember it… it was what got me into looking at builds and information. i was stuck on it for days. it’s the bane of my existence in genshin lol
Didn’t know about the last one, but at the same time I never use co-op, plus I believe I found that quest much later than ar16. Also, I think that defeating a boss to unlock a Statue of the Seven could have been used more, at least in places where it makes sense.
I'm kinda glad that last one isn't a common thing. The rest though - we need some of them to come back, like the weather in major cities and aerial boss fights.
But the fact that i accidentally finished that annoying liyue quest in one go was funny af. Cuz in UA-cam all I could see was warning against this quest 🤣

Ah, yes. The Tianqiu Valley quest. As painfully as I remember, I actually deleted the game after I failed that challenge part 17 fckin times. Then I just randomly redownloaded it and somehow managed to finish the quest.

I remember that it was raining in the cities after our conversation with Xianyun until morning during interlude quest so you could actually tp to cities and experience different weather there.
I remember that for Kaeya's temple, the spikes sometimes turned red, and so, I believed that if I walked through them when they weren't red, it wouldn't kill me
I really liked to play genshin in 2021-2023 but as time went by I got so overwhelmed with updates and new characters. I mean, these updates are quite good and creative, but it was just too much to have one main quests, world to explore, billion other characters to pull, monthly events etc.. maybe it’s me, still I really enjoyed the game back then but I got so exhausted eventually with them countless new events and quests I couldn’t focus on main ones lol
Dang.. as a Day 1 player this hit hard!
I forgot a lot of things in this game because they are mostly unremarkable. A lot like 95% of the events we got in the whole history of Genshin!

Misty Dungeon
Feast of the Departed Warriors
Divine Ingenuity
Perilous Trail
(The reasons I remember them are because I *FINALLY* got content to use my characters and because they are not dogshit toddler minigame.)
Trails in Tianqiu really was the worst; however, the time period that I spent on that quest was what really helped me realize how to build my characters, thanks to my father criticizing my artifact choices and my terrible stats. With the team I have now, I probably wouldn't have had to spend an entire month on that stupid quest.
kinda still wish for puzzle obstacles like the kayea one
and more shooters like dvalin aerial boss
man it felt like only yesterday I did the first ever co-op event, met Scara on an event, fought Childe and saved Liyue from Osial, the first Lantern Rite... it's all still fresh in my memory

Good thing those chests didn't give primos I guess. And I actually remember that Diluc mission very well, and why I didn't want him! His ults kept on missing so I just switched to my Razor - speaking of things I've forgotten, he was my main dps for about a year.
Using bombs while flying is such a forgotten feature by both players _and_ the devs lmao

I remember that non-coop challenge. Took me a while to beat, but then my partner had to go through it. We were in voice and he WHINED so much and was getting really frustrated and upset because we couldn't come over to help XD He did get it... eventually.
I remember all of that but it's only been a year since I began using the game :) I swear I would have loved to fight Dvalin again in that mode by the way
Many forgotten that in early gameplay become aero game who is flying shooter.. It is so difficult for me at that time because im bad at aero shooter game..
There was also a quest called The Chi of Yore in Liyue that locked you out of Co-Op even if you were out of the area or wasn't in the battle.
I remember suffering so much... couldn't Co-Op with friends for days because I couldn't beat a room full of ruin guards. I think, iirc, the only shielder was Noelle... not even Beidou.
I hear now though that you can do it in Co-Op... but it forced me to level characters I guess..... I don't know if other players who have been playing since 1.0 remember it too. Genshin had painful moments.

i always used to think youd get all characters for free doing quests..
The only thing I remembered from the old days is when you dispatch your character to an expedition, you cannot use them in your team until they finished. perfectly logical mechanic but very annoying.
I thought this would be the case, but it didn't happen with me. Did they change it?
@@ShizZel0O I think It's removed since Dragonspine update, now you can still put the character in your team even if their expedition is not finished yet.

Once I was helping a low ar player in dragon spine and when we reached the top I saw those triangle floating enemies.
It took me a good 3 minutes to remember them 😭
I remember when the side of Lisha just says "Chasm". It was so mysterious to me, what could be there? I also remembered going to Liyue via the foot of Dragonspine, because I thought the enemy level is based on the area. The enemy I saw near stone gate was lvl 30+ and I'm just lvl 20, as an RPG gamer, those difference in level meant danger for me. The altenate route gave me those spinning shit (geovishaps). I wasn't having it.
Number 16. I was very desperate to complete the challenge but I couldn't and I was new to the game and I sent a mail to hoyoverse back then😂 and I even got a reply saying that I can just lower the world level lol 😂😂
Gosh I remember the Tainan Valley challenge, my co-op was locked for 4 months and because I’m an unskilled player it took me forever to finish it and I thought I was never gonna co-op again😓

I still remember 4, 5 for sure. 7, it took me forever to fix that. 11 and 12, defo. 13, I sure hope not.. but yeah, probably. 14, I've always loved Paimon. 16 I didn't even know. I played by myself for the longest time since I only want to play co-op with friends, and they didn't play.
The 16th one gave me ptsd. I could never forget it.
