For the Good Times (Ray Price) reaction
Ray's gorgeous, silky baritone, the poetry of Kris Kristofferson, and wonderful orchestral production make this one of the most sublime sad songs in music history.

The Impossible Dream (Grace VanderWaal) reaction

Gorgeous song, wonderful orchestra, lovely Grace, but her voice is strained and stretched, taking away some of the impact and emotional effect. Wish I didn't have to say that, but there it is. Please give me YOUR opinion on the performance. Seriously!

Benjamin Orr's voice again takes you places, and Ric Ocasek's guitar, lyrics and arrangement give us that splendid quirkiness that defines the cars. Orr's bass on this is terrific too, along with the keyboard funk.
All Mixed Up (Cars) reaction

These guys had such a cool, funky sound that somehow still managed melody and musical impact. This is a fantastic (though a bit cynical) take on the psychodrama of relationships, with Orr's voice carrying us away.
Homeward Bound (Simon & Garfunkel) reaction

There just simply may be no better duo harmony in the history of music. Combine that with exquisite acoustic guitar and a strong drum/bass backing and a bohemian lyrical journey and longing for home, and you get this masterpiece.

How is it possible, my friends, that a majestic masterpiece like this sublime song could ever be created and exquisitely performed to absolute perfection, rocketing the human spirit to places unseen but purely felt? It is an Odyssean journey of lyrical loneliness counterposed by soaring orchestration of defiance and hope. Just wow. 00:00 Setting scene 01:30 Reaction begins
To Sir With Love (Lulu) music reaction

Man, man, man, man, MAN! This adorable and delightful Scottish lady has the pipes and undulating emotional inflections that mesmerize and captivate. This is an exquisite song, with wonderful drum work, guitars and, yes, violins till your heart's content. It was the biggest song in the U.S. in 1967 and rightfully so!
What's Left of Me (Grace VanderWaal) new-song reaction
Переглядів 2,4 тис.4 місяці тому
This is very well written, angsty, sublime in moments, powerful, a choral powerhouse with fine instrumentation, and Grace's voice is almost back to where it used to be always emotionally affecting. I hope this is a harbinger of things to come.
Anyone Who Had a Heart (Cilla Black) reaction

One of the greatest and most emotional voices of all time singing one of the greatest lyrics (Bacharach/David) of all time. This is a goose-bumpy performance by Cilla in 1964. Absolutely mesmerizing. LOVE LOVE LOVE this lady!
Mercy Mercy Me (Marvin Gaye) reaction

The wonderful lyrics are about ecology and what man is doing to the world, but again, Marvin conveys his meaning with such tenderness and emotion that even if you don't completely agree with him, it just doesn't matter because the beauty of his sound is almost unmatched.
What's Going On (Marvin Gaye) reaction

If modern music and rap had even half of this man's brilliance for lyric, meaning and melody, I might listen to it. Marvin is a template for class and transcendent emotion and message all rolled into one amazing man.

Powerful orchestration and choral magnificence with a mellifluous narrative integration about Quasimodo and other characters make this 7-minute intro on the movie "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" a moving experience. Wow! From Patrick Page's channel: ua-cam.com/video/qtuUw5jnTns/v-deo.html
Something in Your Eyes (Tori Holub) reaction
Переглядів 5307 місяців тому
Wow, a Carpenters song I'd never heard of. Turns out it was never performed by Karen because of her tragic demise. It was written by Richard, and Tori has now done her rendition. She does a bang-up, moving performance, but the song, unfortunately (for me), is rather mediocre. I hope you enjoy.

Elegant is right. Beautiful song!
Burt said this was his favorite Hal David lyric ever
Burt never wanted Cila to do this. Dionne was his singer for this
It breaks my brain that this song was written in 1962😮 Not knowing that information it almost sounds like an Anime intro. Literally has “space” in my mind as I listen to it❤
Finally someone who knows the music and the movie. This movie helped form the person I am today I was 7 in 67 saw the .movie in believe was 1969. Still remains so meaningful, Sidney P was my first actor crush ! GREAT Movie GREAT REACTION
My final comment. I think she did the very best she could with what she had, to please Mr. Coppola.
I admit, also, she really had to strain and push her vocalization and it didn't sound like her. That was difficult for her to sing. She would have needed more capacity and more practice...it was forced. I agree with the reactor. But she did her best and put her heart into it, so all was not lost on this song.
Your such a liar dude. & the way you keep talking & stopping the video proves it. 🤷🏾♂️ YOU HAVE HEARD THIS SONG FROM BOTH ARTISTS BEFORE 2021
11:06 Hey SPEAK FOR YOURSELF WHEN YOU TALKING ABOUT GUYS. ALL GUYS ARE NOT THE SAME & NEITHER ARE WOMEN ‼‼ REMEMBER THAT FOR THE REST OF YOUR DAMN LIFE. YOU DEFINITELY NOT SPEAKING FOR ME
CELINEs live version was better than her recorded version just saying
Jennifer RUSH, CELINE Dion, & LAURA BRANIGAN GREATEST POWER HOUSES ALONG WITH WHITNEY HOUSTON & JENNIFER HUDSON
GOLD!!!!
Everyone from the Eagles is (was) perfect, but I found Glen's voice to be one of the most beautiful ever. So calm and yet so expressive, heavenly. This is one of my favorite songs of theirs, Don Felder's guitar is so beautiful and I love Randy's high voice in the chorus. I can really listen to this song over and over again.
It is rather funny when Neil refers to the rents being low in la rents are always high but Neil is comparing it to the rents in New York City which are Sky High out of the roof
That's not Bruce Hornsby playing the piano.
Tony burrows had 145 hits singles and 5 number one singles in couple years and with greenway the flower pot man
I'll have to take exception to your calling Dave a "one hit wonder". He has a long and storied career as a singer/songwriter/guitarist and is widely considered one of the world's foremost at all three. His first hit was in the 1960's called: "You're feeling alright." and it is one of the most covered songs in history. Like a lot of of UA-cam reviewers, if you're going to post it, it's always a good idea to do some research first.
* DaxMusix, you've highlighted so many of the fine points of this song well !! I would also like to point out the profound way the Bassline covertly supports the rythm and melody while dancing around the main beat, it's almost as if two songs are playng as one .
Vestal virgins was 16 virgins that kept the Roman (Greek?) flame going as if it went out bad luck would follow. They had to be virgins (purity?). They gave 30 years of service.
Celine Made a Hit
I cant help but keep watching it, she's so beautiful and voice of an angel!
Needless to sey, It's Jennifer who conveys emotion and drama. It's not that Celine is bad, but she exrpesses it in her own way, and I feel the same way she exrpesses it in other songs…!
So much emotion in her voice, amazing
I don't feel the same as I think it is the best I have ever heard from her and her heart was absolutely showing up completely. What a perfect rendition of this song.
People like Michael Jackson Charlie Chaplin Jackie Chan Albert Einstein Léonard de Vinci. Carl Benz They were all exceptional
Angels voice❌ God voice ✅
Cilla certainly had a distinctive voice tone and manner
Every adjective you just used to describe his voice on this is exactly how I feel. Could not have said it better myself. It just doesn't get any more beautiful than this. Thank you.
@@alphonsowilliams5072 thank you!
@daxmusix You're very welcome my friend. Loved your reaction.
Our Cilla. Very underated.. she should have done so much more! She was on the liverpool scence same time as the Beatles!
Watch the Dutch group The Analogues play this song and all the post touring Beatles music live. They aren’t a tribute band but reproducers of the sound using the exact equipment used by the Beatles.
I saw them in manchester 2-3 yrs ago..they were unbelievable..his voice...the band and backing were amazing..but...his voice..
I love you're reaction❤ cannot explain to others how accurate you are, my father has always loved that song from her, exclusively her..and I'm so glad to.show him your video. Stupendous ❤

The TEN seconds from 3:53 to 4:03 is sung WITHOUT A BREATH. Listen to it again. From the time he begins to sing the word "Dream..." until he finishes "Long Ago..." is just one continuous run... I get goosebumps every time I hear it...
You missed the joke at 10.04.. Reporter - "I remember the launching of Frank Sinatra, Johnny Ray and Elvis Presley.." Paul - "Great ships.."
I so agree with you 100%
Great reaction to a classic. This song reminds me of my home country Wales. I recently saw Tom in Chepstow and he still sounds unbelievable!
We come and hit his woman anytime. I hit it that way

Her voice is hauntingly beautiful! Raw, pure, authentic, from the ❤. Perfection!🙏
I heard Jennifer’s performance, voice, video, years ago, and then just now, … could it be Jennifer is one of the greatest artists in modern history ? That’s sounds a bit much but what other performance quality of artistry song writing can I remember equal to this ? Maybe David Gilmore, bochelli, Led Zeppelin at their best, only something on that level can compare, not to mention Jennifer seems to be an Angel, hmm I simply cannot imagine any song performance more magnificent than…. Thank you Jennifer ….j
Growing up in the late 80s early 90s on hard rock/heavy metal, I distinctly remember hearing her voice for the first time thinking "who the hell is that, who sings like that?". She has a one-in-a-million voice, full of sophistication, control, and operatic power. She could have been an opera diva, and ended up being IMO probably the greatest pop singer ever.
One of my favoritesongs ever. His voice is so smooth.
I completely agree with you on this. It came across as forced, heavy and overdone, which means it wasn't at all natural for her. Someone can post a list of all of the traits her voice is known for, but a beautiful and unique voice doesn't always mean she's going to elevate a song to something it's not. I think she relies too much on the raspy qualities of her voice. We all love Grace, right, and she's uniquely beautiful and mesmerizing. But this wasn't a stellar performance.
@@Cee-t8r Spot on. “Forced, heavy and overdone” are the perfect adjectives for this uncomfortable performance. There is almost no real joy or ecstasy in this. Grace is the Johnny Depp of music. She is weird and fresh and new. You don’t really know what to expect, except for something extraordinary. At least, that’s how she used to be. I’m surprised, honestly, that any of her fans really like this performance. It seems to me that she really did not want to be here.
It is an exceptional performance, and the high praise she has received for it, as well as it being the most viewed performance from this night of industry legends, seems to back that up. Her interpretation of the song is powerful, and she delivered it with the emotive vulnerability that is a staple of hers. She didn't "force" anything. The performance not fitting your preferences is a different matter.
@@daxmusix Not at all the case. The complete opposite actually. In her red carpet interviews from this event, she seemed to feel unworthy to be there and was tremendously honored at the opportunity, and it has certainly paid dividends.
