- The last song on the now out-of-print 1986 album Misfits, Loony Tunes and Squalid Criminals. The voice samples are from the cockpit radio conversation between Captain John Testrake and the radio control tower of Beirut International Airport during the highjacking of TWA Flight 847 on June 14, 1985.

the track was called Ram (I was Jim Jones attorney)
@u33sun "Rattle Stick Cruss," the song before this on the album. Two different guys, actually; to hear more of the source of the "I was," look up the video with the 5:53 version of "Ram."

Some are, truly, a Pineapple or two. Most likely one.
A newscast, I reckon. I can't say for sure, but there are transcripts of the recording around, so the recording must have circulated among the news networks. The album title, BTW, is from a statement Ronald Reagan made right after the hijacking: "We are especially not going to tolerate these attacks from outlaw states run by the strangest collection of misfits, Looney Tunes and squalid criminals since the advent of the Third Reich."
it was broadcast live from the airport in a mistaken belief that it would save lives. I remember watching transfixed by the live broadcast on the evening news and thought what the fuck are they broadcasting this for? What a callous world we live in when states get to dictate what passes for "entertainment" and public service. But that was then...oh hang on, they just got better at shock and awe of the general population since then. Still feels like a callous world we live in. Bravo to ZF for putting this out when they did...
the man was Jim Jones
@Sister Sister: Jim Jones' attorney, actually.

If the band doesn't like it maybe they could, oh, re-release the bloody albums? There are still some I'd like to buy, starting with a CD re-release of "Gris."

The cover of this album (the only one of theirs I have on vinyl] spells it with an S.
@@eyevocal Interesting...I kind of recall that now that you mention it.
Perhaps they were just trying to keep us all guessing!
