Messmer quickly rose to being one of my favorite Fromsoft characters and one of the best fights in the series. His voice actor goes hard, his cutscenes are absolute cinema, and his theme is one of my favorite soundtracks they've ever created. Fantastic boss and character. Also great job on the no hit.
100% agree, I feel like he took the spot for my absolute favorite boss, the flow of dodging the spear and fire and the snakes in phase 2 is unmatched imo, plus his attacks are just so sick looking. Love his VA too, was really cool seeing a different variation of his lines compared to the ones in the trailer. Thanks, it’s not a no hit tho, I got hit twice or so in phase 2 by the big snakes lol. Next time
01:06 the look on his face is priceless I imagine Dark Sun Gwyndolin would be green with Jelousy would he behold Messmers Combat prowess, considering they are both Characters with Snakes emerging from their bodies
I loved watching that moment in 0.25x speed lol For some reason I never thought about the two snakeboys together. I’m glad gwyndolin is more of a pushover as a fighter, dodging the magic and arrows alone caused me more pain than I’d like to admit lol
I killed Messmer quite quickly with the help of bloody blades. But now I already regret it because the boss is divine, he is both difficult and more or less honest, he is important for the DLS events, and he also has beautiful techniques. So the boss is 10 out of 10
@@FireKnightMeldstor true, easiest 10/10 of my life. I had a blood martial arts build on my first run, still took me 38 tries. Refighting him was so much fun and still really difficult, I had moments where I would just giggle and grin while dodging his insane attacks
I appreciate the effort for OST sync and cinematic fight along with No HUD! but I'd love to see the first cutscene as well even if it's edited out of other tries
thanks! I’ve thought about it at the time and now I wish I would’ve included his intro cutscene, it’s one of my favorites of all time. I might upload another version with the cutscene or do it on my next run
I don't know you guys can play without the hud, basically hitless, and showcase badass gameplay. I wish I was this good lmao. Underrated channel that deserves many subs and views!
FYI, if you roll INTO the flying combo Flurry strikes (the multiple stabs part) and dodge the first hit, you can literally ignore the rest of the stabs. At least ive never been hit by any of them after. You do have to dodge the final hit tho, obviously
I‘m aware and I tried it for a while but when staying relatively close to messmer during most of his combos blind spot ended up missing or going the wrong direction for me lol (skill issue)
4:39 4:48 The sequence of rolling without getting caught and then doing the special attack was crazy. Not bad this outfit too it reminds me of Eileen in Bloodborne this kind of raven fur.
dodging the snakes is so satisfying. And I like that he gives you a good window after that to do some longer attacks. Also yeah I love the gravebird set so much, it’s probably my favorite outfit in the entire game
That‘s the reason I sometimes watch my own recordings while learning a boss, as an outside viewer you can process the moves a lot better. When you’re in the fight everything feels faster and more stimulating (but you might be crazy as well who knows)

It’s the gravebird armor (blackquill version). You can find it by the rot area near the temple town ruins. Helmet is the winged serpent helm
