You can tell he actually read for 24 hours because the clock is the same time at the start of the video as it is at the end
this comment is funnier than anything in the video, I applaud u 👏🏼👏🏼
Jack Edwards Thank you! 🤣
He said the clock is Brocken
Ava Kirk that’s the joke
@@jack_edwards 😂😂
Me : haha cool challenge, i should try it during the holidays
Jack : i have a lecture at 10 so...
Me : wait... WHAT?
This video has 'i'm an english lit student' written all over it
Is there anybody else rewatching old Jack’s videos in 2022?)))
the fact that Jack folds the side of the page as a bookmark is bothering me how could you😭
jack you need to discover the Booktube part of youtube 24 hour read-a-thons are actually pretty normal and I think youd enjoy their content. LOVED THIS SO MUCH AND REALLY DID MOTIVATE ME TO READ TOO
Is it just me or would Jack be an amazing doctor who?😂👍
I’m also an English student but reading solidly for 24hrs is my idea of a hell. How??
I would love more book’s content :)
You should read lady in waiting I’m not the biggest fan of books but I really enjoyed it
you look extremely tranquil when you read. It's very soothing to watch you
Not like you to miss a pun.
ONLY READING FOR 24 HOURS STRAIGHT (for 'lit'erally no reason).
That is all.
I LOOOVE this kind of videos
I can't even make fun of him because I would also do this for no reason
Beloved is my English A-level book!! Really enjoy studying it but yes it’s a long read😂
one of several of jack's guest appearances on booktube :')
What is the name of the Graphic Novel?
Also, it looks like a Manga to me. Caus it seems like it is printed in reverse
Your violently British
this is so hard. I am planning to do one next month
such a great Video! :)
U guys how do you read books like not reading it loud like i cant remember what i read if im not reading it loud😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
this screams procrastination in 47 different languages
Lol you have got 666 likes right now(20 October)
I guess today is your last day on earth 😂
Everything about this screams English Lit degree and i'm here for it
did i MENTION-
@@jack_edwards what? I don't think you did😂 tell us!
I'm doing political science degree but I'm still going to attempt on doing that challenge on the next weekend
@@angelikakrawczyk2207 good luck, you got this!!
@@jack_edwards u did
that is why i kept watching XD
Bro Icant even read for 20 mins without getting distracted how do you do it
me. me. me.
Same
Poetry is a good place to start, then you should move on to plays (read them in one sitting with a break in the interval, its actually easier that way)
Gosh, same
fintan beirne that’s actually brilliant advice right there. Plays are always my go-to for when I’m trying to get myself out of a reading slump
the lack of planning for this stresses me out but i hope you survived
true chaos
This is pure dedication to English , Shakespeare would be proud
big up willy shakes
Imagine being subscribed to Jack for months and only just finding out he was head boy at your old school...WHILST YOU WERE THERE
hahahahahaha omg 2014/15 throwback!!
Head boy is a real thing? I thought that was just in Harry Potter? Lol

Since harry potter was based in England, it makes sense for Hogwarts to be based on actual english schools.
We have head boys and houses (as in hogwarts houses).

just lactose intolerant things hahahahaha
@@jack_edwards bro what
U can tell that he has an English lit degree when he tries to solve the math. Great
I was honestly slightly upset when I realised that the title didn't say '(for literary no reason)'
😂😂

Rookie mistake jack!!! Most people start their 24 hours of reading at midnight 😂
now this..... this is very clever
For some people it’s hard to read for two nights
... Your profile pic... It's a NCT easter pic or I have watched to much to NCT Life and NCT vines and I see NCT everywhere, probably you don't know how I am talking about 😅
Sorry for that.
Why do people start at midnight? Sorry, new to 24 hour readathons!
heyle if you stayed up all night the night before then when you’re finished you can go to sleep at a fairly normal time and sleep through the night! But if you start in the morning and then stay up all night and finish in the morning you might end up sleeping all day!
So even if I was to sit down and read for 24 hours I still wouldn’t even finish a book because I’m the slowest reader ever, how do you do that???
The more you read, the more your eyes adapt and you start reading faster, so you just have to read a lot
Keep going
I read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for a week but now I'm taking months reading this 300 page book.
Ah yes, a 24 hour read-athon
Your metamorphosis into a booktuber has begun :)
Your clairvoyance stuns me.
The metamorphosis is complete…
'eyebags so big Tesco's could sell them for five pence'
your humour is amazing, imagine still being funny after no sleep 😂😂
Jack, you are lying about the time bruh. The clock in the background says 3 mins to 4
*SIGH*
Jack: reads like 3 books in 10 hours
Also jack: why am I tired i haven’t done anything today
Me: reads one book in two weeks😂
A book in 2 weeks, impressive still trying to get through biff and chip
Shaylan Roy underrated comment 😂
Study. ing엘로위즈 I’ve been reading the same book sonde October:/
mabel pope as long as you are reading 💕
This is me at the end of the year, frantically trying to complete my Goodreads challenge...
😂😂😂Same
I have a feeling this will be me. December is in two days and I still have 6 books to read...
Jack: posts anything about reading
Me: ready to spend my time watching this
I liked the fact that he had different positions for every book 🤣

When you said Beloved was next I thought “oh no your brain is going to hurt” 😂
Omg and the crying of lot 49 😭😭 you’re asking to be confused dude
I think ink outside the box should make bookmarks
omg LOVE this idea!
I have a box full of bookmarks but if you check my books, there’s old scrap paper, train tickets and receipts in there to mark pages... There must be a secret way of being able to use bookmarks.
Jacks one talent: reading for 24 hours
I WASN'T EVEN GOOD AT THAT
Ouch
Me: gets tired after reading for five minutes
Jack: reads for 24 hours straight
How were you so coherent still at the end - when I did it I could barely gets words out, let alone complete sentences 😂
it took EVERYTHING i had to form a sentence haha
@Jack Edwards Please can we have an update on your day afterwards with your lectures?? Would be hilarious
@@laurenharman5797 omg yes would be amazing! functionality afterwards is so difficult (and funny in retrospect 😂)
Gabriella FitzGerald I can barely function in lectures with 8 hours of sleep nevermind none!!
Really hoped you vlogged the day and gave us all the details otherwise I'll be highly disappointed 😂😂
Wait, Jack's doing an English Lit degree????? I swear he's *never* mentioned that before /s
Once I spent 7 days where I did literally nothing except from read, sleep, and eat. Any time I wasn't either sleeping or eating a meal, I was reading.
It was boring as fuck, but at least I managed to read 13 novels in 7 days, with some hours to spare by the end of it I think.
Jack - reads 4 books
Also Jack (midnight)- I don't know why I'm tired I haven't really done anything
Me: reading is such a good way to spend time away from a screen!
Jack: reads on his laptop 👨💻
😂 (obvs joking)
THIS explains the sudden stream of updates on your goodreads lol, i was like hoW
I remember finding 24 hour read-a-thons over the summer when I was in 6form and honestly a nap before hand makes it so much more fun. Joining in on them with other people on Twitter helps make them feel like a sleepover, but never did one on a school/work day.
Getting ahead of that reading challenge I see! I feel accomplished if I read one book in one day so this must feel satisfying, but one question, how and why do you sometimes read standing up? I like to be cosy reading hahah
to stay awake ig
you're really avoiding your work as much as you can aren't you
GUYS SOMEONE FINALLY FILMED AN ACCURATE REPRESENTATION OF MY DAILY ROUTINE!!!!!!! ♥♥♥
♥️♥️
no one:
not a single soul:
Jack: I DO AN ENGLISH LIT DEGREE SO I READ
and here I am struggling to finish even one book in between my uni work 😂
Replace ‘ Reading’ to ‘sleeping’ and you’ve just summed up my life in a title
How do you read standing up??? I have never seen anyone do that before 😂😂
DESPERATE TIMES, DESPERATE MEASURES
DANG, 7 books?! The best I did was 2, if I remember correctly (was 2 years ago I did my first and (so far) only 24-hour readathon! :')
I do this all the time but usually I start at night so when the 24 hours are over I can go to sleep. Very accurate vlog of whats it like tho lol
the idea of doing a completely arbitrary all nighter that you don't actually need makes me want to go to bed right now out of sheer pettiness
This video has inspired me to try and tackle the enormous TBR pile I currently have. Maybe won’t read for 24 hours straight though...😂😂😂 would NOT have the willpower for that!
I would’ve gotten a massive headache, for sure 😂
I did so many of these books when I studied English lit at uni! It’s interesting seeing the different texts (or similar texts!) different universities offer on the same course
oh gosh i'm so glad someone didn't like 'the crying of lot 49', currently procrastinating an essay on it bc AAAAAA
I’m actually planning to do this after mock week (for fun, so it doesn’t matter how long I actually read for :))
"normally eating cheese gives me like, crazy dreams" wHaT? i think we need more information about that.
i know you said you aren't really that into graphic novels, but i think you would really enjoy "Maus" by Art Spiegelman.
Jack : reads 4 books till midnight
Also Jack: I've literally done nothing today
Me : I can't even finish reading a book in one day
Eh, I don’t see the big deal in this. I did this when each Harry Potter book came out. nothing could’ve torn me away from them. Good times.
It is just me that after I finish a book I do like a period of mourning for a day to 'remember the best parts' before moving on to another one?
The arrow on your shelf kinda looks like the Brexit party logo lol
I am never this early and that confuses me so I'm just going to come back later when there are comments 👋
Cheese gives you crazy dreams?? Funniest shit I've heard all day. 😭 😭
This time last year I was watching your videos with awe and a huge distance between what I loved doing (LITERATURE yes) and my situation at the time. Now I'm in the second sem of my lit degree and so, so happy. Things do get better and your videos are still there to remind me that maybe the blue we can't quite reach *is* surmountable.
This made me tear up a lil bit. Wishing you and your books all the best xx

In glasses, I think you look like Simon from The Mortal Instruments series.
10:44 You were so cute. Yes you did it and your subscribers are proud of you ♥️
Am I the only one slightly disturbed by Jack reading whilst stood up? I don’t know why haha.
I thought I loved reading until I realised I will never be ready to 24 hours of it like you have😭😂
Have you read Mcewan’s novel ‘Atonement’ ? What did u think?
jack saying it’s gonna be fine repeatedly is something i related to far too much for my liking
Well, you did inspire me to finish 'The Catcher in the Rye'. Thanks!
Don’t you read fantasy books? Then what will you prefer?By the way,I love to watch your videos.
I laughed so hard at this...I've watched many 24 hour readathons but yours was the most interesting! You def made it sound hard! ;)
“WHY. WHY WOULD U DO THAT”
me: *watches a video about reading to procrastinate reading Pride and Prejudice*
me being sad that i am a medstudent in my parents house and watching happy you living with your family makes me feel good❤
Well done you went 1 minute without mentioning your English lit degree.
To those who wanna try: Inspired by jack I did a 12 hrs of non stop reading and it was TOUGH. But most importantly It does help to lengthen my focus span. So say that I did 12 hours yesterday so today it’s quite easy to do 3 hours while the day before yesterday I needed a break after one and a half.
what the heck, how do you not fall asleep reading. I fall asleep reading 4 sentences
Why am I obssessed with books ( even I can't buy book that I like , reason = my parents.) And why am I obssessed with you too ??
Btw, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH 💜💜💜💜
Sorry, but you are not John Fish
