When Jack smells a book and can tell that it hasn’t been read before. 🤣 I’m the same with just lifting a book. BTW, you haaaaaaaave to read Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson. It’s absolutely so informative of walking the Appalachian trail while also being drop dead hysterical.
Speaking as the world's slowest reader I feel pretty impressed with myself when I finish a book in three days and Jack is reading them in two to three hours. Makes my yearly reading goal of 75 books seem woefully inadequate. 😭 This is why the Bible says those who compare themselves amongst themselves are not wise.
there's this french fantasy series I'm reading at the moment and I'm really really liking it, it's called "The Mirror Visitor Quartet" ("La Passe-mirroir" in French). I literally just finished book 3. I'm kinda obsessed with it right now i guess. Just a book series recommendation :)

Am I the only one disturbed by the number of books in English stored in an AirBNB in Paris ? I thought the challenge would be tackling some French literature at first, but no, you had to find the only landlord in Paris who has full bookshelves of books written in English. Not even upset, that was cool.
I work at a bookstore. A bookstore that has 30 copies of The Great Gatsby at all times.. and I never knew that Fitzgerald ALSO wrote The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I’ve literally held that book in my hand and shelved it right beside The Great Gatsby..
About the book about the Canadian girl living in Tokyo: her mocking Japanese people's English and non-native speakers in general is unfortunately EXTREMELY ACCURATE. I came to uni in the UK from abroad and part of my degree included a year abroad in Japan, and A LOT of my English-natives acquaintances would make fun of the way Japanese people spoke English despite the fact that we literally study Japanese at uni and are supposed to know more about the country and like it enough to spend a year there. Not to mention that we were studying Japanese so we should have been immersing ourselves in the language rather than encourage our Japanese friends to speak English to us just to laugh at them afterwards. Of course I am not a native speaker either, and although I have experienced some mocking because of it, it was never as bad. Then I realised: Brits will give you a pass as long as they find your accent 'cute' and as long as you're white-passing.
all of this to say: English native speakers!!! Stop treating people like they're stupid just because they're not proficient at English!! You try learning our language instead!!!

5:02 -"Our pal Agatha just always gets the pacing just right..."
*people walking by behind the window *
I am just wondering what kind of conversations Jack holds? He must've a plethora of knowledge
If you’ve ever seen a Whit Stillman movie, I imagine he speaks socially like a character from that
Jack liking a book set in Cuba, which is the country I live in makes me so happy. I don't know why, it just makes me happy💚💜
'pyscho- analysing my air bnb host' - ive never felt so personally attacked in my life
Jack is giving us different ideas how to read more books but also read those books on shelf that has being calling us for a long time. Thank you Jack
No because the way I'm excitedly waiting as if an album is about to drop😂I can't imagine how I'll be when he publishes his second book.
1:06 the fact that this wasn’t sponsored by Airbnb, absolutely ROCKED me.
I’m aiming for 10 books this year so please don’t think your 75 is woeful 😅 I think it’s very impressive!
I love Agatha Christie! I'm so happy you liked her book! ☺️
there's this french fantasy series I'm reading at the moment and I'm really really liking it, it's called "The Mirror Visitor Quartet" ("La Passe-mirroir" in French). I literally just finished book 3. I'm kinda obsessed with it right now i guess. Just a book series recommendation :)
The fact that this airbnb just literally has books so you can read for free 😭 how lucky one must be 😭😭
How come I found jack just now ?!! Like I know he graduated as a lit student…. But his story telling are so captivating and I can’t get enough of him
How on earth do you read so fast?? It takes me a good 5 or 6 hours at least to get through a short contemporary novel, and I don't think I'm a particularly slow reader.
Oh my goodness, I completely agree!! I also really hate when you have two people from the same country (for example Japan) and instead of going back to their native language, they continue to talk in broken English. That does not happen in really life!! Unless you are trying to communicate with someone that doesn't know your language, you talk in the language that you are most comfortable with
How freaking fast are you reading? (It’s a compliment) I would probably only finish about two books in that time 😂
1.the curious case of benjamin button - f.scott fitzgerald
2.curtain : poirot’s last case - agatha christie
3.Shakespeare - Bill Bryson
4.lost girls and love hotels - catherine hanrahan
5.nonsense poem - edward lear
6.the high window - raymond chandler
7.dreaming in cuban - cristina gracia
Honestly I've never been this excited for a video
HOW THE HELL DO YOU READ THAT FAST !!! it must be because you read so much books that it became easier and faster to read ! So great . And the books you chose look really good . The airbnb seems to have an amazing taste
Haha I'm a house keeper of two air bnb.. (not the owner) and I love borrowing and reading the books, a lot have a note at the start as they were gifted and that's cool. One cottage has a lot of classics... but the other two have a great selection lol
Am I the only one disturbed by the number of books in English stored in an AirBNB in Paris ? I thought the challenge would be tackling some French literature at first, but no, you had to find the only landlord in Paris who has full bookshelves of books written in English.
Not even upset, that was cool.
Could you do a video reading the Reese Witherspoon book club books?
Omg yes
You have no joke gotten me out of a 2-4 month reading slump, and I thank you for that.
I'll never understand how people read more than two books in a day
I work at a bookstore. A bookstore that has 30 copies of The Great Gatsby at all times.. and I never knew that Fitzgerald ALSO wrote The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I’ve literally held that book in my hand and shelved it right beside The Great Gatsby..
2:19 - Wait until you find out that F. Scott Fitzgerald is a descendant of Francis Scott Key who composed the Star Spangled Banner, Jack.
Wh... What? 😳
@@laiatezenas3300 Yup! They’re second cousins 3X removed - whatever the fuck that means. Fitzgerald’s full name is Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald.
@@ingridsanchez9787 That's incredible! Thanks for this totally unexpected anecdote !
whoever wrote the subtitles hearing jack say "agatha had smarticle particles" and writing "agatha had [mumbles]",,, iconic
I start a petition for a Jack Edwards Poetry Collection! That limerick was - considering the spontaneity - chef's kiss! 👌😗
