- What a workout this one is! Great rhythmical structure, I've always loved this tune. Here, we also introduce a set of brand new Remo vintage emperor heads across all the toms as well as the snare. I hope this vid sheds some visual education for parts that were unclear. Enjoy.

Crazy thing is Bonzo would play this as part of a 3 hour plus set (often nearer 4) along with a 20 minute plus drum solo. Incredible talent and stamina.
Is called cocaine bro 😎
@@justchilling4881probably just alcohol lol
Well, if all ya do is play drums for a living, that's kinda normal.
Billy Cobham laughs at fat boy bonham’s stamina.
Flawless performance of this mighty song! Bonham himself would have been proud.
Agreed! And, loving that profile picture!
You sir, are correct.
'Flawless'? Obviously none of you know this song.
I always see people arguing on cover videos about how someone didn't play it the right way or they aren't very good, and I always think about how when I play it I'm hanging on to the edge the whole time haha
Ha! Watch Yoyoka do it
My favorite Zeppelin song. Had always wonder how Bonham played that, now I know. Some great work. Hell my leg hurt after just watching.
Also my favorite Zep song. Dan Zalac is the incarnate Bonham. rsrs
The fill at 2:25 is the best fill ever played on drums in history of music. I always shit my pants when I hear it, and to see it played perfectly, unbelievable, man!
Also, I always admire how that fill fits perfectly into lyrics, it comes right after "Into the sun, the south, the north, at last the birds have flown" - and Bonzo's hands just spread their wings over the drum set... And of course, let's not forget that epileptic right leg. Dear GOD
Not a drummer, but... 5: 22?
Brando551 Same stuff, same gold. The first one is only better because of the lyrics, but it's a really small difference... Beautiful.

I've been playing drums for 5+ years and I'm pretty sure I know A LOT about drumming and drums. We all like different things, I, personally, love the combination of snare+bass drum in a fill. It's not about technicality or skill, it's just how it fits the music, that's why I pointed out the fill at 2:25 because I think it's perfect for that place in a song. If you're into technical drumming you probably think some fills by Buddy Rich or Dave Weckl are the best. Or if you are a metalhead you probably wank off to Dave Lombardo, Benante and similar drum machines? It doesn't matter, really. For me, it's Bonham, Chad Smith, Nicko McBrain and Danny Carey. The more I listen to music and play drums, the more I'm loving these guys.
TheTrooper9169666 I think its just an issue of calling it the "best fill in history".
I would say the best fill in history exemplifies both technical and artistic expertise, and Bonham was never the BEST at either one.
He's still a god in my mind, just a demigod.
TheTrooper9169666 Trooper - you're bang on - nice assessment. I'm a drummer of over 30 years experience. That is one of the most amazing rock fills that I've seen or heard up the point of March 1976 for sure & not many after that can match !
5:21 I'm dead
totally agree... that killed me
1:13
You're just being honest.
It's not as hard as it looks but you have to have the cymbals set up just like he does so you can go R L R and then L R L the other way and then do it fast 4 times so back and forth twice.
@@frankburdodrums8984 Bonham' s creativity was was on point.
Was it as good for you as it was for me?
You honestly sound more like him than any drummer that's ever played him, including his own son Jason. You are a PHENOMENAL drummer. You have an incredible feel for rhythm and the groove. Page should have hired you for the reunion concert.
+MrChuckwagon55
Thanks, I think it's due to the fact I studied the Carmine Appice books when I was young.
GrooveDrummin me toorealistic rock was my first book!
💯
And the cymbals match 👍🏼
FUCKIN A man that was some serious drumming. How are you not a famous session drummer? Nicely done.
Thanks very much!
Ghost notes, that's what led zeppelin is all about, great performance, great tone, it was a real pleasure watching it.
Romulo Ferreira Cool. Yeah, even the bass drum ghosts :)
Extraordinary drumming and very entertaining.
Also at 8:51 OMG!!!!!!
I am sitting here at my computer watching Led Zeppelin videos / cover videos when I should be sleeping. Just hard not to watch when you come across some great work like this! That was amazing!
It gives insight into how very talented that band was (is) and how they inspire us.
I am a guitarist & this song , along with Kashmir, are my favorite songs ever. These are also 2 of bonham's best bodies of work . This guy knocked it out of the park ! To see someone's right foot go that hard & fast in a 9 minute song is incredible. It doesn't have to be note for perfect ... This was impressive.
Dude I logged in just to say what a pleasure it was to watch someone play my favourite tune note perfect most excellent, many thanks
Thank you kindly!
You've mastered Bonzo's bass pedal Technic. Kudos mate.
Absolutely awesome performance. Made Bonzo proud, along with many Zep fans.
John Karnuth Thank you kindly!
John Karnuth damn!!!!
Ive been waiting whole life for this to come back 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Lost count of how many times I came back to this video, honestly
This is craftsmanship, you seriously rock!
Thank you so much!
Best drum cover on Achilles on UA-cam! Exceptional Job!
Covering LedZeppelin thank you!
Perfect.! Epic !amazing! This is the best drum cover ever in the history of you tube. Never will be beaten. You hit every ghost note, every pause, every fill perfectly. Your timming was of a meteronome! All hail the best drummer on the net. Love perfection!!!!
If this was double foot peddle drum cover on Achilles Last stand! I'd change the channel. But this guy stays true to the roots of drumming and most of all the one and only John Bonham.. Amazing Cover
Not only is it kickass perfect, it was recorded properly as well! Holy moly!
Holy cow. I'm a guitarist but this is one of those songs I would air drum to when I was a teenager. This cover was amazing to watch. Thank you for making this video.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT THAT WAS INSANE!!!
+Jasper de Laat
coolness!
Boring
You should be knighted by the rock gods for this demonstration of accuracy and superb attention to detail.
It was astonishing to watch you play this song with the exact grove/feel, texture, time inflections on the fills, etc
I've only seen a few drummers capture the essence of Bonham but nothing on the level that you've demonstrated.
Thanks for sharing your hard work with us. Every music college should be knocking at your door asking you to be a professor to teach your knowledge Bonham.
Simply awesome - I must've watched this about six times since discovering it the other day. Couple of things it highlights to me: How busy the bass drum is on this; how high Bonzo tuned his toms; and the fact that he never stopped that snare shufflin'!
All this years I keep coming back to this video. Perfect.
nice!
I hate to say it but this guy might actually love Led Zeppelin more than me. If that's even possible.
My personal all-time favorite Zeppelin song. Nice job!
That kit sure does sound awesome, great playing man!
That was flawless and absolutely awesome! Thanks for sharing it, man.
Man, you destroyed it. Excellent cover.
Dude. You friggin NAILED it!
Kudos!
You my friend are an awesome drummer I wish I played half as good as you!
Thank you kindly.
That was crazy awesome my friend -- probably my second favorite ZEP tune. You nailed every note lol wow !!!
Gods of thunder, Great drummer
i'm glad that young drummers appreciate Bonzo's talent... he was so important in Led Zeppelin's structure..
I could type for hours about why that was the best drum cover I've ever seen. This deserves endless likes!
I think this is my new favorite way to listen to this song. What a great song. What a great drum performance by bonzo and also yourself. You ripped it man.
Thanks a lot!
No Zeppelin song moves me the way this one does. An criminally-underappreciated masterpiece, in my opinion.
This cover is one helluva crisp rendition, too. Fantastic job! :)
thank you so much!
This is an perfect example of well tuned passion. The driving force behind all great performances
The worst part was when it ended. :(
If anyone can cover this song any better I would like to see it.. Fucking awesome brother. Simply blown away because that is a very hard song to cover. Fantastic job and you should be very proud of it. Rock and fucking roll.
much appreciated
Groove on Brother, when music was music. And Drummers made the band. Keep the music going on for us 50+ dudes that grew up on this music. Awesome Drumming, sounds and looks almost like the man.
Very cool comments! Thank you!!
Dude I must have watched this AT LEAST 15 times. Literally. Inspires me every time
Thanks for watching!
nice foot work
This is just the best Led Zep cover on UA-cam - fantastic work
I can't imagine a more gratifying song to play on drums. Well done.
2:27 That part where Bonzo goes crazy always makes me smile. Fantastic work!!
Same here. There's something different about that fill. I think as epic as this song is and awesome as Bonham's playing in on it is, a missed point is the amount of restraint he shows. There's a lot of "space" left in it by Bonham and that adds to the whole drama of the song's arrangement. But 2:27 and 5:22, he can't help himself and has to blow off some steam.
Great drumming is as much about knowing what to play, when to play it, and when NOT to play it. Lots of guys miss that.
Yup!
Give that man a YooHoo! That was an epic cover. WOW your good. Thanks for the entertainment. I think I'll watch it again. Are those 14 or 15 sound edge?
Thanks my man! 15"...
At 5:23 John Henry Bonham smiles and Knights The as worthy!!!
Great drum song and great job covering it.
BRAVO. What a great performance!
Lol, that would wear my foot out in 30 seconds
ya i try playing this and after 2 mins my legs tired
You should do a cover of 'Dazed and confused' all covers on youtube are crap today, you are the only youtuber capable of this.
George Fludas did a pretty decent rendition. If I were to do it I'm not the kind of guy to copy it note for note as I really believe even Bonham didn't always do it the same and to do so is boring imo. It's very subjective to how the MOMENT feels at that time in space and what occurs naturally is the magic as a result.
I think your approach it's very intelligent and I agree, and the good thing about you is that you got the perfect feeling and groove for covering this songs, I see no spirit and even no dinamics control in the covers I see around there, i will check the one you said tho. Thanks for your response mate.
You absolutely crushed it!!!! Amazing job!
Absolutely stunning
I see 19 jealous tin ear mofo's gave a thumbs down. WTH is wrong with some people?
Excellent job!!!
Wonder how much calories you burn while playing this. lol.
Sadly almost none, it's just fucking exhausting haha
+Jack J. Pelletier if it's exhausting, you're losing calories.
He said almost none, which is true. It completely depends on the specific person but I'd guess you'd burn maybe 100 calories. That's approximately a banana or a tablespoon of olive oil.
U wanna burn calories ? Play a few slayer songs
Absolutely Brilliant in every way!
Absolutely brilliant!
You GOTTA be some kind of good to cover that song!!
You have his kit and have it sounding near perfect, you also have nailed his technique and playing pretty close as well, except for one thing and that's you lack his forceful power and heavy handedness.
+Ash Hudson
Sort of an illusion...If you were in the room with me you would be surprised how loud it actually is. Most guys think Bonham bashed or beat the crap out of his drums but in fact, did not. This technique is parallel to the "one inch punch" but on drums. Thanks for watching.
GrooveDrummin No, I agree. Bonham was heavy handed anyway -naturally, but I agree about the "one-inch punch technique" as I do it myself. I was wrong to critique you. Maybe it's just the room sound or the mix on the recording then
that's right!!there's people who still think bonham was a hard hitter, when in fact you have to keep control to play the stuff.he barely raised his arms when playing, ecept if he wanted to.of course i got to leave my praises here for your playing!!spot on on Everything!!amazing work
Bonham wasnt the basher everyone thinks he was....
Still, I have heard from a few that played with him that he was one of the loudest! One inch punch!
Just perfect!! I love this song.
Wow......That was epic!! Fantastic cover of a fantastic tune.
The thing about Zeppelin songs and Bonham's drumming are the small nuances that make them kind of akward and hard to play correctly. When guys want to cover a Zep song I'm always reluctant bc it's really hard to do them justice imo. Then they always go for the “well let's just pick an easy one" and i always laugh bc I'm like which one of their tunes are “easy" to play? Even the most basic Bonham beat has some tricky nuances that can be really hard to reproduce without alot of time to break it down and practice it. He just had one of those special feels and outside of the box ways of playing shit that makes him one of the true masters of rock drumming.
Beautiful playing on a gorgeous kit.
I could watch/listen to this guy all day long. Very good
Epic drumming. Very inspirational and an enormous help for aspiring drummers to be able to check out the different angles. Thank you very much and I hope to see more
Dude....wow...just, wow. Always among my favorite Zep songs.
This was just brilliant!!
THAT WAS INCREDIBLE!!!!!
Great work sir. Best job I have seen/heard on Tube so far.
I'm flattered! Thank you so much.

I am happy to hear this!!
6:16 Is it only me or does that part of the song always hit me with a bunch of feeling? I get so into the song at that point. I freaking love Led Zeppelin.
Whoa! Beautiful feel, awesome drumming!
Your the man! One of my all time favorite songs by them.

Loved it. My fave LZ track played wonderfully.

That's incredible!
Best song of all time which you covered brilliantly. Thanks very much.
Great job on what is one of my favorite Zep tunes and recorded drum performances of all time! I've been a fan of your vids for a while. I've drawn much inspiration from you. Over the past year I've pieced together Bonham sized vintage Ludwigs and used your tuning vids to finally get the sound I've been searching for the last 20 years! I get more compliments on my sound now than I ever have from bandmates and fans. Thank you and keep up the great work!
My favourite drum cover of all time!!!!
Dude this is great ....you did this song some justice ...respect
