Fantastic. All of it. I’ll be supporting your page soon!! I hope you are safe and well during these times. I do have a question. How do you record these tunes and have your drums front and center sound wise to go along with the music track? It’s as if Bonham has been removed and your sitting in his place. Wow! That's incredibly kind of you, Alberto! I would highly recommend Bonhamology's cover of this as well (if you haven't seen it already), as I think he's even more accurate than I am in some areas, and he does a great job with all things Bonham! Still, I'll take your words of encouragement and keep putting everything I can into these covers! I promise there will be plenty more to come!
That's awesome! I'll be the first to admit that it took me a while to fully appreciate the brilliance of this one, so I take my hat off to you for digging it so much this early into discovering Zeppelin! I really appreciate the kind words on the cover, and I hope you have a lifetime of enjoying Zeppelin ahead of you!
As a scrawny youth I watched Zeppelin perform this at Knebworth England in1979..The greatest gig l have ever seen and I have seen hundreds...It is now on UA-cam and it still gives me goosebumps Your performance was superb, well played🥁
Count me as chartreuse with envy! It's tough not to default to seeing as many Zeppelin shows as possible if time travel were real, but alas, I was born three years after Bonham gave up his ghost. I really appreciate your kind words, especially given your experience. I'll keep trying to do the man as much Justice as I am capable of.
Thanks so much, Ethan! I'm still in awe after a thousand listens at how fearless Bonham seemed when cutting these tracks. That's why he is the legend he is, and I'm sitting in my garage playing along to his songs nearly fifty years later. I haven't gotten tired of jamming along to them after any number of times, though!
I remember when the album came out when I was in High School, Zep blew me away to another level, learned to play this on guitar in my 30's, we never could find a drummer who would play it!! Fine job!!!
:)...Great job with one of Bonzo's most trying grooves...This is such a fun song to play along to...You pick up so many awesome licks to add to your own inventory...This song separates the wheat from the chaff...I've been playing this song for 40 years and not until today did I read the lyrics...WOW! They gave me an even better appreciation for how great Zep is; Here they are; It was an April morning when they told us we should go And as I turned to you, you smiled at me How could we say no? With all the fun to have, to live the dreams we always had Whoa, the songs to sing when we at last return again Sending off a glancing kiss to those who claim they know Below the streets that steam and hiss The devil is in his hole Oh to sail away to sandy lands and other days Oh to touch the dream, hides inside and never seen Into the sun the south the north, at last the birds have flown The shackles of commitments fell in pieces on the ground Oh to ride the wind, to tread the air above the din Oh to laugh aloud, dancing as we fought the crowd To seek the man whose pointing hand The giant step unfolds To guide us from the curving path That turns our feet to stone If one bell should ring in celebration for a king So fast the heart should beat as proud the head with heavy feet Days went by when you and I bathed in eternal summer's glow As far away and distant our mutual child did grow Oh the sweet refrain soothes the soul and calms the pain Oh Albion remains, sleeping now to rise again Wondering and wandering What place to rest the search The mighty arms of Atlas hold the heavens from the earth The mighty arms of Atlas hold the heavens from the earth From the earth I know the way, know the way, know the way, know the way Oh the mighty arms of Atlas hold the heavens from the earth
I can't... I just can't... Seen this vid a hundred times. This dude completely dropped the mic on anyone looking to perfect a cover of this drum track...
Ha, ha! And your comment certainly stands out amongst some of the very generous things people have said - it makes the 800 attempts it took to get this particular take worth it! 😂 I promise I'll keep giving these covers everything I've got!
@@KickItLikeBonham I've seen a few very good covers. But yours just slightly beats them all. There is the one lightning fast drum fill and then a very Junior version of it later on that I judge all covers by LOL you nailed it. You nailed both of them
In reading the comments you have received it is difficult to add something, but not as difficult as to the detail and attention and commitment you made to achieve this most incredible reenactment of the Great Bonham. Come one, come all to see the greatest show on earth. After just seeing Live at Knebworth, your epic work here has raised the bar to challenge us drummers to excel at the impossible.
Ha, ha! Well, I will say your comment does stand out as incredibly kind, but also resonates as a rewarding call-to-action to keep pushing yourself to be the best you can be. There's a still plenty I would like to revisit in this song - more ghost notes, I screwed up one of the hits at the end, and for the life of me, I couldn't play the funky disco hi-hat part at the end correctly after multiple takes, so I had to cheat my way through that part. But I really do appreciate you noticing the effort I put into getting this as close as I could, and it is with that standard that I shall continue to try and hold myself! Make the myths, my friend!
Nice job man. Definitely the hardest Zep song to play on drums. Its fast, has heavy fills, time changes, oh and it's 10 minutes long. The endurance required to play this in time is insane.
This is definitely a tough one to get through! I've found that once you get past the first half of the song and get into the middle section, the composition allows you a little break for your body to catch up, but then that end hi-hat shuffle is REEEAALLLY tough to lock into cleanly (for me, at least). Believe it or not, I think the studio version of "Rock and Roll," might be the toughest song to play accurately. Bonham is playing soooo many notes on the kick, much more than he ever did live, and then you've got the ghost notes on the snare, and the tempo; that's a calorie burner, for sure! If you haven't heard the isolated drums before, you can hear them here: ua-cam.com/video/POLNS8avoyU/v-deo.html
@Kick It Like Bonham Yes, Rock and Roll is very hard to play correctly, and the endurance to play Achilles last Stand is tough for me. These two definitely stand at as the hardest to play for me. Bonham truly was one of a kind.
I finish my boxing workout to this drumbeat/song, the best Zeppelin song, after 10 round and finishing with this song I take my hat/groves off to you dude and of course "Bonham"
Such a tiring and hard song to learn and play in it’s entirety but when you learn it and you’re playing it, and feeling it…. god it’s such a great feeling
Man, I was just in Brazil touring around with the led Zeppelin band I play in! We're called Led Zepagain! This was our third year going down, and it's always a great time! Also, I know nothing!
Unbelievable! I know nothing about drumming but *this* is what the Chinese call "kung fu" and this is the work of a kung fu master! Thank you for sharing it!
😂😂😂 I truly appreciate your comment! I wish I were more well-versed in martial arts, but I'll definitely value being considered competent in any form of "Kung Fu!" Thanks so much!
That's awesome, man! And I agree - like all things Zeppelin-related, JPJ is the underappreciated master of holding or driving a song to it's glorious heights! His bass on this track is what makes the heard of buffalo that it is. Bonham's drums are amazing, but JPJ is the one that's chopping down trees with his razor sharp pick!
I've commented a little while back how I thought this was the best cover of the song and I still do. I'm not sure if you recall, but I mentioned how I judge it on the two drum fills. The obvious lightning fast one at about the 1:16 Mark and then the small subtle one at about the 2:55 mark. I said it back then and I will say it again. You nailed them perfectly! Oh and the SHOWCO t-shirt is a nice touch! LOL 😉😉😉😉
Absolutely phenomenal! That track is a true test of stamina by anyone's standards and you absolutely nailed it. Not a step wrong for the entire ten minutes...very impressive!
That means a ton, Steve! Just the stamina required to try and remember everything, let alone try to play along with it, was one of the accomplishments I'm most proud of for this channel. I really appreciate your comment, man - Thank you!
Much credit this man's a beast his fills at like 5:29 are Savage, this monsta could play with any band he wants, he's that good, this rendition is perfect! Bonzo would have been thrilled with this copy, in all reality can't tell the difference its soo good. Much Respect to you 👏 👏👆🏻🫵🏻
Christ, I'd no idea Jon Snow could play drums as well as he wields a sword! Joking aside, brilliant rendition of the great man's work. Thank you so much - I really felt the heart and soul in this.
I will definitely try to cover more kick drum-related technique moving forward! My goal is to have a lesson video that supplements each of these covers from now on!
Thanks so much, Markus! I really appreciate the kind words, and am glad you dug the kit, too! There will definitely be more of this one coming along soon!
I always enjoyed this song because of the drums' arrangement. You made this very enjoyable to watch especially when you do the fill around the toms. I only hope BMI or whoever manages Led Zep now see this for what it really is. Keeping the flame alive on great music, you showed a lot of skill putting this together, thanks for sharing your passion.
Very impressive setup, a pairing Bonzo would most appreciate. Good groove from an epic Zeppelin tune the pinnacle of their career. The drums in this song definitely carry the momentum and expresses it's importance in every dynamic. Stay well ✌🏻🇺🇲
Absolutely fucking awesome. You can hold down that amazing groove, once again dude ..... you are killing it, love it bro! Gorgeous kit. Keep kicking it!
Your comment is good for my heart, Mario! I really, really appreciate you taking the time to comment, man! It's really nice to read! I wish you all the best, brother! And I'll keep giving this music and these videos everything I have!
It is a serious challenge! I would just recommend putting on a good set of headphones and jamming along to this one, section by section. If you have the ability to record yourself, even just using your cell phone, it'll help immensely to hear where things are solid and where you need to improve; recording yourself is easily the best way to improve, in my opinion - just like an athlete studying footage to improve on their mistakes. And! If you've only been playing drums for a short while, definitely be patient and give yourself some time. I would definitely say this is a solid intermediate-expert song to try and lock in.
Ha, ha! That's awesome! I know any number of Zeppelin songs can be the gift that keep on giving, but you really do have so much to tap into with this one - how much energy and focus is required to get through it all, the fearlessness of Bonham's approach from start-to-finish, the way all the musicians meld their parts together... I really appreciate such a kind comment, and promise I'm really looking forward to putting some more videos together in the near future! Any particular songs you're interested in seeing?
Again, I really appreciate it, man! Thank you so much for all the kind comments you've thrown my way! Man, I'm sorry to hear about your shoulder! I've had some back issues in the past that have definitely affected my ability to play up to the standard I hold for myself, and it's felt like a looooong road back to the quality of drinking I want to put out there. As a result, I really feel for you if you haven't ever recovered enough to play to your full potential; it's definitely disheartening. You're not kidding! This song, and trying to play the studio version of 'Rock and Roll,' with all the ghost notes and kick drum going the entire time, are easily some of the better endurance workouts you can put yourself through. Oh, and four sticks is another stamina challenge! I really appreciate the kind comment, as it did take quite a bit of work to get to this take! ☺️

I really the kind words, man! Thank you so much! It's definitely a blast of a song to play, and I love being able to really lay into this kit and have it give so much back to you! All the best to you, Donny!
Ha, ha! Well...the shortest advice I can give is just to do 16th note singles on your snare drum for at least a full measure / 4-count. Once you feel pretty good with that, start working your way around the toms doing the same thing!
I'm a big Zeppelin head man, and John Bonham is my favourite drummer, I've heard jason play this 2, and I've got to say u sound just as good, maybe even a little cleaner then him... Thanks 4 sharing
Wow, that metal kit sounds unbelievable! Are there crazy overtones to deal with when tuning? Is that a reissue, or vintage? That's a 15 inch mounted tom. That is ridiculous, and gotta find that kit! Great job on the cover too
Overall, the overtones aren't too bad. With Bonham's sound, you almost want some of that 'ring'. This is the reissue kit that Ludwig and Ron Dunnett put out back around 2006.
@@KickItLikeBonham I've got the 24 Giant Beat, and 2002. Both are the best ride/multi purpose cymbals out there (vintage 602's nice too) Anyway, to get those crashes, I have to angle em basically like yours. Bonham had em like that too. If ya wanna make a statement live, nothing like crashing on those sucker! Using a speed king?

I've been a drummer for over 55 years and I got to say this is the best I've ever seen miss this gentleman is a professional drummer and so far I've watched this video over 22 times and by the way you're welcome because I'm still going to be watching this video for a long time it is great drumming I remember always practice cuz that's how I learned how to play drums by listening to these other bands
DUDE!!! you killed it!!!! note per note,,,,, Bohnam would be proud of you...
I really appreciate the enthusiastic comment, Tony! Thank you so much! I can promise you I'll always do my best to honor Bonham!
Recently discovered Led Zeppelin and this is by far my fav song by them. Insane cover, very well done!
The simulation knows what it's doing. 😂
Jon Snow is so underrated as a drummer!
Ha! There wasn't much to do beyond the wall, so the drums seemed like a good option. 😄
You my sir, are a badass
Hell yeah dude! Fuckin amazing cover. That fill at 2:30 was incredible.
Thanks so much, Marcello! I really appreciate it!
@@KickItLikeBonham Fuck yes! That must be the fill where Dave Grohl says that shouldn't be humanly possible. Mother of God - you are awesome. Wow.
All of the fill were incredible ...he nailed them all even the cymbal crashes ...
Absolutely
Agreed. Most people covering the song leave it out, that was sick!
so happy this got unblocked. incredible stuff!
The drum fills towards the end of the solo are phenomenal dude
Thanks so much, Ethan! I'm still in awe after a thousand listens at how fearless Bonham seemed when cutting these tracks. That's why he is the legend he is, and I'm sitting in my garage playing along to his songs nearly fifty years later. I haven't gotten tired of jamming along to them after any number of times, though!
Awesome display of musicianship well-done
Thanks so much, Monty! I really appreciate it. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
that's a pleasure to watch and listen to
I'm glad you enjoyed it, my friend! Thanks so much for the nice comment!
dude that is absolute mastery......
Thanks so much for the kind words, man. I've hidden the multiple takes it took to get to this, but I'm happy I can share this video!
@@KickItLikeBonham keep it up dude, if you aren't making a living on those drums you should and could be
I remember when the album came out when I was in High School, Zep blew me away to another level, learned to play this on guitar in my 30's, we never could find a drummer who would play it!! Fine job!!!
Dude you’re actually insane, to pull off this song takes lots of dedication. Bonzo would be very proud❤
:)...Great job with one of Bonzo's most trying grooves...This is such a fun song to play along to...You pick up so many awesome licks to add to your own inventory...This song separates the wheat from the chaff...I've been playing this song for 40 years and not until today did I read the lyrics...WOW! They gave me an even better appreciation for how great Zep is; Here they are;
It was an April morning when they told us we should go
And as I turned to you, you smiled at me
How could we say no?
With all the fun to have, to live the dreams we always had
Whoa, the songs to sing when we at last return again
Sending off a glancing kiss to those who claim they know
Below the streets that steam and hiss
The devil is in his hole
Oh to sail away to sandy lands and other days
Oh to touch the dream, hides inside and never seen
Into the sun the south the north, at last the birds have flown
The shackles of commitments fell in pieces on the ground
Oh to ride the wind, to tread the air above the din
Oh to laugh aloud, dancing as we fought the crowd
To seek the man whose pointing hand
The giant step unfolds
To guide us from the curving path
That turns our feet to stone
If one bell should ring in celebration for a king
So fast the heart should beat as proud the head with heavy feet
Days went by when you and I bathed in eternal summer's glow
As far away and distant our mutual child did grow
Oh the sweet refrain soothes the soul and calms the pain
Oh Albion remains, sleeping now to rise again
Wondering and wandering
What place to rest the search
The mighty arms of Atlas hold the heavens from the earth
The mighty arms of Atlas hold the heavens from the earth
From the earth
I know the way, know the way, know the way, know the way
Oh the mighty arms of Atlas hold the heavens from the earth
My #1 song of Zep.......you did a awesome rendition...spot on👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻✌🏻
Nice job man.
This cat is a is beast I love watching this guy he's come as close as anyone I've ever well done and cheers
I finish my boxing workout to this drumbeat/song, the best Zeppelin song, after 10 round and finishing with this song I take my hat/groves off to you dude and of course "Bonham"
That's the most badass thing I've heard in a while! Thanks so much for the awesome comment, man!
Such a tiring and hard song to learn and play in it’s entirety but when you learn it and you’re playing it, and feeling it…. god it’s such a great feeling
jon Snow on drums! Amazing ,mate! grettings from Brazil!
Playing this masterpiece on bass and it is pretty hard to keep this tempo all the time, just rock dude u are awesome. Best drum cover definitely.
Much Respect to you 👏 👏👆🏻🫵🏻
Beautiful, your playing actually put a smile on my face!
✌️😀🎸🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
And your comment put a smile on my face, so I'm happy to keep reciprocating as much as possible!
Jeez, dude…that was perfect in every way!
You're very kind, Joel! I really appreciate the comment! All the best to you, man!
If LZ were auditioning for a drummer they would stop after hearing your audition. Absolute perfection.
Keep on rocking!
You're very generous, Sebastian. Thanks so much, my friend!
I really want to see you vs Jason Bonham now
Christ, I'd no idea Jon Snow could play drums as well as he wields a sword! Joking aside, brilliant rendition of the great man's work. Thank you so much - I really felt the heart and soul in this.
wow' great drums cover sir, thanks for sharing..
I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for the kind words, my friend!
Yes sir' you're always welcome :) keep it up...
Envolvente....emocionante.....os melhores!
absolutely spot on man! This is terrific drumming! When will u put a camera on the base drum so we can appreciate and learn from your technique
I will definitely try to cover more kick drum-related technique moving
forward! My goal is to have a lesson video that supplements each of
these covers from now on!
Out on the tiles,Rover and Achilles Last stand are deeply Bonzo tunes.and your rendition is very very close to Bonzo.great job!
That is one of the best renditions of that song I have heard. You even have the period specific ludwig drum kit, double awesome!
Thanks so much, Markus! I really appreciate the kind words, and am glad you dug the kit, too! There will definitely be more of this one coming along soon!
Yesss, one of the Bonzo's best. Superb performance! Thanks!!!!
Amazing.. sound is spot on 👏
I'm happy you dig it! Thanks so much for the nice comment, Heri!
*Masterpiece cover. Perfect work and the best on UA-cam.*
Chapeau!
Jon Snow on drums!
Stellar! Spot on.
Thanks so much again, my friend!
FANTASTIC JOB BUDDY
I really appreciate it! Thanks so much for the kind comment, my friend!
You must feel so smug/relieved when you pull off the fill at 1:16. Incredible stuff
Definitely the hardest song I’ve played so far, great job I hope I can play it like this one day
It is a serious challenge!
Dude. Just stellar. I can't stop watching it. one or two times a day for the last month.

You are really in the pocket man! So many great fills in this cover! Nice Job!
Again, I really appreciate it, man! Thank you so much for all the kind comments you've thrown my way! This really is a fun song that forces you to take chances from start-to-finish; I don't think there's any point where I can relax and say, 'okay, we're in the clear!'
All the best to you and your endeavors, my friend!
You know, I have up playing (shoulder issues) 2 yrs ago. Now it just makes me smile watching someone else doing it better. Someday if your in Milwaukee I'll buy ya a beer.
I can promise you I'll keep giving these videos and drumming everything I've got! It's certainly a fun hobby making these videos whenever I have a chance, so if there's anything in particular you're interested in hearing, just let me know!
@@KickItLikeBonham Your body breaking is just what happens when you try to play like Morgan Rose for yrs lol. I don't know how he still even does it. If I just would have gotten into Bonham earlier I probably wouldn't have had as many problems 😁
No sour grapes, I had a awesome life and loved playing. I only wish I would being so hard on myself and practicing myself to death.
Freakin' brilliant!!
Thanks so much, man! I love your UA-cam name!!!
this is extremely impressive. You deserve the praise you’ve received for this piece. Excellent.
Amazing! I’d love to see you tackle the Knebworth version. Bonzo was on fire with the fills!
I'll definitely be making my way around to that one soon enough! I'll set the stainless steel kit back up and go through as many performances as I can from that show!
@@KickItLikeBonham Fantastic, looking forward to it! Bonzo and Jonesy's interaction during the Over the Hills solo on the 4th is another one I'd love to watch/hear.
Nailed it!!!
Thanks so much for all the nice comments, my friend!
Well done 👏, Led Zeppelin at their finest, My favourite track by them, People say Kashmir is their best and as good as it is, Achilles is off the chart .....best rock track of all time IMHO and enjoyed your playing...Bonzo was the man 🤘
BONHAM approved!
Great hoss!👍🏼
Thanks so much, man!
Well done, I wasn’t sure anyone could play this track for 10 and half minutes and sound that good 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👊🏼
You're not kidding!
This is my favorite song all the time!! So cool😁👍👍
I love hearing that!Thank you so much for the nice comment!
What a champion. I was exhausted just watching this, it's a drummer sprint
Ha, ha! That's a great way to put it - sprint! The kick drum work in this is just shin-crushing. Still, it's a blast to play and definitely satisfying once you've made it through!
Wow,,,, that was perfect!
There are two parts in particular that I know I messed up on. At some point, I want to revisit this song and correct those...
Phenomenal!!!
Thanks so much, Tim! I really appreciate it, my friend!
Drum set sounds great & great playing...
I really the kind words, man! Thank you so much! It's definitely a blast of a song to play, and I love being able to really lay into this kit and have it give so much back to you! All the best to you, Donny!
1:17 *Yeah ok teach me how to do that hahah*
Ha, ha! Well...the shortest advice I can give is just to do 16th note singles on your snare drum for at least a full measure / 4-count. Once you feel pretty good with that, start working your way around the toms doing the same thing!
What about at 2:30?
@@GutoFleury YES,2:29 is fucking GOLD !!
BRO! I was having a pretty shit day. Then for what ever reason I found this video. I'm sure that my day is not going to get much better, but for 10:26 min. I have had just enough of a break and had my sprits lifted just enough that I am pretty sure I wont hurt anyone or myself. Thank you for your video, you have no idea how bad I needed that!
NOT BONHAM, but pretty damn fucking awesome!
Man's got the groove
You brought Bonzo’s spirit back to life ! I play this song often while driving to then gym ! Spectacular ! I also play often now “ All My Love “ which had a superb beat as well ! I relate this song to losing my father a few years ago.
He is definitely the feather in the wind ! Wish he never went away…
Glad we can still revisit some things we always dreamed of experiencing “ Live “ because I never saw Zep live especially Bonzo kicking’ it like you do !
Awesome !
Achilles is definitely a great pump up song for the gym! And it's always a heart-hurter to hear you didn't get enough time with your father; I'm glad music, and in particular, Led Zeppelin, has helped to keep you moving forward. I can promise you I'll keep giving these covers my best effort, and we'll keep celebrating Bonzo together!
@@KickItLikeBonhamThanks my friend! I saw some others so Achilles and it doesn’t compare to yours. It is just phenomenal! We shall continue to celebrate Bonzo everyday of the week ! Take good care and please keep on kickn’ it as always !
Outstanding!!! That massive ride mounted to the kick 👍🏻
If you ever want to feel like a kid again, sit behind drums and cymbals this massive! 😂
Whomever tuned this set was spot on ! And those cymbals no 2 are ever alike . spot on ! Impressive !
Stellar . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . and what beautiful bass drum
