I’ve heard of Kudo, it looks like a bit of Muay Thai with the elbows. In fact it seems to resemble the very old school Kyokushin which including throwing, elbows and much more. The ‘modern’ Kyokushin is more knockdown sport oriented
The founder of Kudo, formerly known as Daido Juku was the late Azuma Sensei who ranked 3rd if I recall well in one of the world open championship. For some reason, Azuma Sensei did not find kata interesting so he removed them from Kudo/ Daido Juku and decided to allow punches to the face, but to avoid bruises and/or broken noses he introduced the helmet which is by far the best in the world right now. So Azuma Sensei was a great Kyokushin fighter in his youth before founding Kudo, no wonder you see common points between Kudo and Kyokushin. Interesting to.note that Shidokan Karate, also founded by a former Kyokushin Figther, Ueno Sensei also introduced some Judo elements in his Shidokan like Shido boxing with no helmet though and some ground work and throws.
@@Giovanni-lk7ey that's proper karate. kata is good for form, but does very little for developing fighting ability. in my school, we had no kata either, and were just focused on fighting hardcore, which I loved.
How would you compare Kudo to Kyokshin, Jesse? I have been a Kyokshin practitioner for 42 years, started when I was 5 and now I am 47. There are obvious differences but they are using head protection, leg protectors and very thin gloves, something I am not used to at all, neither am I used to fighting on the ground, so that would be a very huge difference. Ha en riktig flott dag vidare!
Kudo evolved from Kyokushin so there are many similarities , particularly in the budo mindset and in the formal structure of training practice. However the inclusion of grappling and head strikes makes it technically very different. The fighting range, the type of strategies and techniques employed etc. are very different to Kyokushin. But for Kyokushin practitioners it is a very comfortable MMA style to transition into.
Thumbs up always for Jesse and Oliver. I'm always a little suspicious of new styles; "traditional" schools evolved over long periods, and I'm wary of people who try to invent on their own. @@iaindonald7302it does looks like they’re both holding back, because Jesse’s bigger than her, and Ayumi because she’s a Kudo champion

This was not "a karate man vs a kudo girl" this was a nice karate nerd vs a kudo champion : not exactly the same thing ! Anyway, you probably outmatch her in force and didn't attack too hard but ... what a speed she had ! Thank you very much for this amazing video.
Agreed, she is fantastic in Kudo, but it is clear that he was holding back and if he did grappled her, she would have lost.
He's very respectful 😊
@@allysonmcgrory2180 and that's why we love him : the common misconception about martial artists saying they are muscled stupid mysoginistic brutes are wiped in these videos by his smiley and gentle behaviour.
@@herbertrealtorImo she was also holding back in force of strikes due to it being a sparring match, in which you want to avoid hurting your opponent badly but also maintain speed etc. Overall great match between them either way, but don't wanna take much striking cred from the Kudo lady
*lol, his kicks looked half speed. It was comical. It's never good putting a male vs a female because the male in these type of videos will definitely hold back due to respect.*
Oliver is really good. That head twist hiza guruma to guilloutine choke 4:30 is something I'm going to try often from now on.
I been waiting for this video for a longtime sensei, i love It!! Kudo it's what all Martial arts should be, a combination of traditional and new forms and the mindset of budo, sensei Ayumi give us a very wise words 🥋
My family and I are so thankful 🙏🏼 for the content you create. You have a fun and happy way of breathing life into martial arts for the whole world to see. Thank you for bringing us along on your journey. ✌️
Thank you! 🙏
She seems like such a sweet person. Happy, humble and just enjoying life.
Thank you Jesse for introducing Kudo to a wider audience. I spent several years exploring different martial arts, but never finding one that fulfilled all my wants, until I came to Japan and discovered Kudo. For me it has been the perfect blend of traditional martial arts philosophy with modern practical fighting skills. Even after 20 years of practice I still feel this art has so much to offer and to continue learning from.
Really good to watch Jesse Sensei and I love the mutual respect everyone has. It is very positive and Kudo seems to offer very good balance with old and new together retaining the Budo spirit. The Female Teacher is very humble and yet lethal with excellent rhythm and good mastering of space where to get out and in for strikes. I really enjoyed watching this video! Thank you!!
This karate style is so realistic. It's like fighting in the street somehow and MMA
Karate has been realistic
Karate has always been real, yes, but what he meant by realistic is maybe "applicable"

@@dundee1080So I guess that’s a wrap, a handful of fights where karate lost means karate will never win anything ever again no matter what. I guess BJJ will never work again considering it has lost as well. In addition to Muay Thai and just about every other fighting style.
Dude, Kudo is badass. Thanks for exposing us to so many cool new sub categories of martials arts. We love it!!!
oh i miss the old style Karate gloves (same as the Kudo gloves in this video) we used for sparring and competing 20+ years ago !!
Wow, this looks like so much fun, contact but with safety. Thanks for sharing. I love the budo mindset, but I also enjoy sparring. Hope I can try kudo sometime.
as someone who's done Ashihara for nearly 20yr, I appreciate how Kudo basically adds back everything we're disallowed in sparring, yet includes some safety equipment and adds on ground combat.
Jesse, you are such a gentleman. Seeing you go so lightly even against a pro.
Fascinating style! I am always excited to see you try new things! 🤗 Kudo looks interesting to me!
I'vee been waiting for your Kudo episode, thank you!
I believe the founder of Kudo was inspired by Jon Bluming and even invited him to Tokyo a few times to give seminars. One of them is on UA-cam.
Damn, that helmet is really good, also for other styles of martial arts. I train pencak silat, we teach attack to the eyes as integral part of our moves. That helmet would provide a more realistic training!
Happy to see Jesse finally trying out Kudo! Kudo has always been a crucial part of my life as I've been doing it since I was a little kid and it certainly shaped me into a man I am now, so seeing it getting love from all over the world brings a smile on my face
wow!! Never heard about this martial art. I loved it!!
Thank you for this video. Its amazing. Im learning so much from your films.
I was waiting for this video for all summer after camp
Gracias Sir Enkamp. Good window to the world of Kudo.
Wow this is a style for me... Thanks for sharing video and experiences :)
I did boxing and searching now for training something like oldboy. I think kudo will be perfect choice ;)
Wow. That style is hardcore!
Your videos continue to be entertaining and informative.
3:36 that's it, I knew it, you 2 are vampires 🧛♂️ 🧛♂️
Exactly 🤣 When I saw that smile I was like, "Wait a minute... Who are you??" 🤣🤣🤣
She is very good at striking then getting off the line immediately making counter strike hard. Very humble. Awesome.
@JesseEnkamp-f2d how about no. you are not the real @KaratebyJesse ? Im gonna tag you both to raise awareness.
Buen video Jesse
Saludos desde esta parte del mundo 😃👍
Muchas gracias 👍
Very awesome! Thank you for sharing!
I never heard of Kudo, interesting. 🤩
Jessie was nice and went light on her
that's why he regret.
His reach would make it unfair in a full fight. Great video!
I've never seen Jessie not go light. The man always hides his skills when he spars. He is incredibly nice and humble.
It's only when you see him demo a technique or a weapon that he turns it on. And hot damn when he does.
@@loristronci4897 You can see a bit of his serious sparring skills against Sensei Seth in that video when they sparred in 14 arts. Jesse was being playful and chill as usual, but when it came to Karate style sparring he turned it on. Check it out !
@@cvz8849 More about the strenght difference, most likely
My exposure to Kudo was revealing---that was when I was younger. Now, I am older, my Kali experience complements each other. Thanks for the video, Jesse.
I'm guessing Takashi Azuma brought "osu" with him from his extensive experience in Kyokushin when he started what became Kudo
Upvoted this one! This video is a good one! Keep it up Jesse.
0:53 ah hell nah they allow that in matches? 💀 hope jesse doesn't get groin kicked lol 😂
geezuz, this is great. some rly kind words at the end and this is, for me, what i thinking by myself. im not a kudo guys, im into classic ("traditional") taekwondo but these just names for something, ive joined a lot of martial arts classes in the past, and also was 9 years into shotokan and if there is a place with good ppl and a good atmosphere i would stay, doesnt matter what stand on the shield above the entry. if this dojo would be around my corner i would like to visited and enjoy it. rly nice video, as always.
I’ve heard of Kudo, it looks like a bit of Muay Thai with the elbows. In fact it seems to resemble the very old school Kyokushin which including throwing, elbows and much more. The ‘modern’ Kyokushin is more knockdown sport oriented
The founder of Kudo was 9th dan in Kyokushin 👍
@@KARATEbyJesseI wish I could try it. There aren’t any dojos where I live that offer this kind of training sadly.
Thank you for introducing Kudo on your channel. Very good video.
0:45 He won against Sohail Khan 😢😢 from India.
India will definitely dominate in Kudo in a few years, that's my word as a Indian🇮🇳
Your videos are always Great! Thanks:)
i need more kudo videos
Awesome video, this is one of the coolest karate styles I have seen.
I like the way their training is conducted, it does not only focus on Traditional karate but also on real life applications
Jesse...when will you do Sambo ??

I wonder how good Jesse is when he goes all out. I see you holding back a lot, but I am appreciative of your videos! They are very good to watch!
1:38 sounds swedish to me
I mean the accent
Thumbs up always for Jesse and Oliver.
I'm always a little suspicious of new styles; "traditional" schools evolved over long periods, and I'm wary of people who try to invent on their own.
But given how sport karate has changed into a kind of ballet, this approach seems a return to real fighting. Great video. Thanks.
Any boxer here?🥊
Started with boxing💪🏾
No
Oliver brought the heat hands down. Good job!👏👏👏 Jesse, clearly, didn’t want to hurt this woman or show her up. You’re always a class act Jesse Sensei. 😀👏👏👏
4:03 Oliver would have been slept if it weren't for that helmet. The fact that he was wobbly with armor on is all the proof you'd need. 😮
Headgear doesn't prevent kos tho
@@notevenalex He literally said he felt nothing thanks to the headgear.
@@Deusaga perhaps he's referring to the physical contact itself. But headgears doesn't prevent kos, only superficial damage
@@notevenalex It absorb a lot of damage. It doesn't prevent KO if the strike is HUGE, but this kick would have KD him, if it wasn't for the headgear.
Also Oliver really goes hard, when the Kudo guy went light on him, and was just trying to show him what style Kudo is.
Also wearing a GI and not wearing a GI make huge difference.
Combat Aikido is specifically different. ( Sensei MacEwen Documentary Requested) Thanks for what you do!
Another great video Jesse, from all of us older Karate guys, great content…TY
Vilius's ego was shaken. He should continue this practice of shaking the ego.
If you've never sparred with a pro MMA fighter, you don't really get it. Like DC says, there's levels to this shit.
Absolutely, one of them trains every day, all day and gets paid for fighting, the other one does it whenever he can. There’s a big difference between how much a pro fighter and a top amateur can afford to put into it.
@@stickgarrote8582 true, but there's also just raw talent, athleticism, and intensity. It's the difference between a dog and a wolf.
@@Jamoni1Sir, the difference between a dog and a wolf is human intervention and generations of genetic manipulation. Every dog on the planet can be traced back to wolves. They're not two different species

If I was younger I would be positive to practice kudo. I find it very complete as a martial art and very interesting. Actually is a more inclusive mixed martial art also. I love muai thai and Grecoroman wrestling which I start first at 1988 by the way. I'm sure kudo includes muai thai or at least basic elements of it. And here in Greece we have something similar from ancient times in Olympic games except boxing(ΠΥΓΜΑΧΊΑ) ,kick boxing, (we call it back then punch-kick, ΠΥΞ ΛΑΞ) and wrestling(ΠΆΛΗ), we call it pagration from the ancient Greek word ΠΑΓΚΡΑΤΙΟΝ fron two words combined which means he who have the dominant power. Nice video Sensei Jesse. 🙏
I love all your videos Jesse but this one is the best so far!
Kudo is so awesome!
Thank you!
So: first she punched and kicked the hell out of you, and then she taught you a lesson about the acceptance, gratitude and the peace in the world. How not to love it?
I was waiting for a video about kudo! Thank you Jesse!!!
Jesse fighting skill is not good..he is like a point karate fighter...boxing skill is pathetic..
Great video as always, human and technics.
The words of the Kudo Sensei really resonate with me
To train to accept and have gratitude for ourselves, and then for the world.

I wanna say that just be simply watching your videos and ofc others in the martial arts community like Seth, wonder boy, icy Mike, Kevin lee, Jeff chan, Ramsey, rokas etc. watching all of you has giving me more of an understanding on the human body in terms of movement and fighting. Watching all the sparring training and technical breakdowns has made me body so much more usable, I haven’t taken much karate but I know boxing and your vids have allowed me to be able to handle my own agaisnt small time mma guys (no grappling) in the gym and just have fun fighting in sparring
Love these videos with both you and Oliver, I forgot how much of a beast Ollie is. I love the sensei's mindset of gratitude, and allowing oneself to feel pride in their training, but without growing arrogant. Another banger vid Jesse-san, oos! ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
