I may be misremembering, but the swordmaster used a "master" variant of the insults, so you had to match the "novice" insults combinations you acquired fighting the pirates roaming the island with her advanced version. It made sense from a thematic standpoint that she would not use the same insults those knucklehead pirates were circulating on the island. She was the swordmaster after all! So (if memory serves me well) it was not a matter of simply gathering the insults and use them as they were in the boss fight. Thanks for covering this classic game in such detail!
You're not misremembering! That's a good point, you don't have the same spat with the Master so there is indeed that extra layer on the puzzle. Thinking about it in retrospect, that does help - if the fight with her had been the same as the fight with those knucklehead pirates, then I'd say that would've made the insult-sword fighting a much bigger chore. Will make sure to keep this in mind when talking about it this part of the game in the future!
good video, to the point, in a time where people ramble on and on for hours never delivering the point its good to see someone putting in some effort to being consice
Maniac Mansion, Zack McKraken and Monkey Island were the best. Wish there were more games like this. Would translate to a mobile game perfectly! I gave thimbleweed a go but just wasn't it for me. I'd love to see a Maniac Mansion remake.
This is the special edition with the OG graphics switched on, except for that very first shot of the "Lucasfilm Games" logo! The special edition has updated intro screens, so we pulled that from the original release. The resolution boost is huge, even after we punched in on the frame to fill the screen and cut out that UI. The special edition really lets that pixel art shine.

The music instantly gives me nostalgia
Fantastic music, brings back memories.
I've been spoiled because Monkey Island was the first adventure game I ever played.
Life since then must seem so drab! Have you been able to find a similar experience with any other games?
This game still looks great aesthetically.
Great editing/production in this video by the way.
