China and India both had remarkable growth in the last 2-3 decades. Yet, China became so clean and disciplined with great infrastructure while India doesn't look like it benefitted a lot from that growth. Its cities and towns are still filthy and the overall life lacks any discipline or respect for law.
I do not mean this in a derogatory way, but I would like to know the perspective of an Indian as to what that is the case?

I love riding trains in China. One more thing I would like to add to the train is you have many trains to choose from throughout the day. So whether you don't want to leave early in the morning, or you don't want to arrive late in the evening, there is a train for you.
I'm coming to Guangzhou and Chongqing in late October. It would be awesome if I could meet you and Cyrus.

Exactly, I remember that between Shanghai and Nanjing, which are about 300 km apart, there are more than 100 high speed trains running every day, all on schedule. It’s even more convenient than traveling by bus. And if we have to reschedule or cancel, it is just a click on the smart phone app

I saw a video of the refurb of the grand central station in NYC and they were so proud of it meanwhile in China they have built so many mega high speed train stations, subway stations etc
Iike it’s very normal. That is the big difference , US celebrates small achievements with great hurrah while China remains humble of their achievements that are actually world breaking and word class.

All the tickets were purchased on line and I have become a firm believer that hi-speed rail is the most effective, time saving, safe and economical way of traveling in China, even for a foreigner. The trains in China are quite precise. The planes on the other hand are often delayed. I've not experienced a single domestic flight being on time. Once we'd to sit inside the plane for three hours before finally taking off. With the train we could have arrived in a little more than two hours.

Since train stations are typically much closer to downtown areas than airports and often share facilities with subways, and because passengers only need to arrive 15 minutes before departure, high-speed rail is at least as fast as air travel for distances around 1,200 kilometers (750 miles), such as the distance between Beijing and Shanghai. Additionally, traveling by train is much more comfortable.

did you guys know that before WW2, into the 1930's parts of china was in the process of such a huge developments and changes where almost everybody was in love with western influences with elegance but not only was china amazed with western style and way of living but so was the westerners that couldn't get enough of the natural preserved architectures and culture which china did so well. The harmony with the west was taking such a huge shape it was amazing to see what is considered to some the very 1st colored film in china i came across yesterday. The reason why I brought this up was because seeing those beautiful buildings reminded me the shock for people not only in china but also for the western counterparts who had invested so deeply would one day witness those japanese fscious rain down thousand of bombs right on top of those infastructures, in huge city all across china, murdering hundreds of thousands, and prisoning all types of people, including westerners in china. I just couldn't believe how a human being could do something like that. It would be the same as if a country was to drop bombs in the middle of new york city. Unbeliveable.

This reminded me of 'Top Gear' races. But it was unfair because it was set up to favor the train. The plane guy had to wait and get breakfast for 1 hr and then took the metro in Guangzhou (55 mins) while the train guy took taxis both ways and the start time was set to align with his departure time. Realistically, the plane should be 5hrs 30 min.

In my country there's this proverb that in literal sense, depict what happened in Japan and then China.
The proverb sound like this : "the mentor is peeing by standing, the disciples are peeing while running"
The proverb meaning : student always do by the teacher/mentor example.
But i somehow link it to the old chinese proverb : " the waves behind drive on those before"
The West always been the east patron or teacher of their style of development and technological advancement.
But now we happened to see the sign of the proverb above, the teachers are getting sign, to be outdone by their student.
Most of countries in the East actually doing by example of what the West been teaching.
Like student in class, some come out to be outstanding.
The teacher are old, the student are young and energetic.
The East should thank the West, for their mentorship, the advancement of life quality standard that they have been teaching.
And lets hope the West has not forgotten what it has been preaching all the time.

The high speed train has been losing billions. Only needs one buffalo to derail it. Aeoplanes are a lot safer.

actually, fatalities per mile traveled, and total fatal accidents in general, high speed rail is the safest way to travel. there has only been one fatal passenger crash in the history of Chinese high speed rail. there are multiple fatal plane crashes just about every year. and Japan hasn't had a single fatality from crashes in their entire 60 year history of high speed rail...

@@OlJackBurton Countries where terrorist have been imported they will find it easy to derail these trains, A simple metal wedge attached to the line and bye bye train. China and Japan do not have terrorists but the West has many.
