    One thing I’ve learned from having toxic family members is just because you share blood doesn’t make them family. Family is home. Family is a sanctuary. Family is a safe space. The people who make you feel the sunshine on cloudy days are who you need the most in life.

    • @TrishLee
      @TrishLee  Рік тому +8

      Very well said, not all blood related could treat you just like a family, sometimes they are worstt than that! But there are people who isnt blood related but will accept and love us for who we are, that is true family! Thank you for watching! ❤

    I have been struggling within a toxic household for years and because of that I had to start therapy. I had to pick myself up and mend the broken pieces. I have learned to walk away and don't try and fix it and just like you said in the video everyone has their expectations. This video is a reminder that not because we are related means that it's good for you. Whoever, reads this please don't let no one tell you that you are unworthy.. And please walk away from whoever that doesn't care about your well being 😢

    • @TrishLee

      I am so sorry to hear that and you had to go through all that, we dont deserve those kind of treatment because we deserve to be love. We need to protect ourselves and prioritize it more than anything or anyone else, cutting off people is much better than suffering from them! I am really hoping that you are doing much better there now, always take care my dear and know that you are worthy and amazing ❤️

    Toxic family members are such a bad influence on psychological health. I am struggling with that everyday and it makes me feel sad. I try not to resent them, but at this point I really don't see any other option then leave and let that people behind. It has been very tough last half year, although I really tried to sincerely talk to them and set boundaries. It just got worse by time. Draining energy out of me every day and even kill my self esteem and inner peace.

    • @TrishLee
      @TrishLee  Рік тому

      Having this kind of family really drains out people and it affects their life, having the choice to leave is one of the things that you could do to prioritize yourselves because you cant overcome it if you dont cut them off! We should prioritize ourselves too!❤

    Blood is thicker than water. Always pondered on this statement. First I was like... hmm yes, the consistency of blood is more of a plasma than liquid.. then later on in life I understood the meaning that a sister or a mother is more important than a friend. But theeeen, even later in life I understood that some friends can be even more precious that some family members.
    I would go to hell with a good friend.. but I would not go to heaven with a bad family member.
    Awesome vid Trish!

    I'm here because my fathers side of the family (not my dad) has judged my poor life choices and talked about me behind my back instead of to my face. They come up with their own conclusions without having all of the facts. I have the majority of my family support but I keep getting hung up on the two people who are negative to me. I was betrayed by these people and still feel it lingering all these years later.
    I wasn't innocent in this particular situation but I was also 19, being manipulated negatively and didn't realize I was in an abusive relationship with a particular person until over 5 years later. All my family saw was that I messed up and didn't care why.

    • @TrishLee
      @TrishLee  6 місяців тому +1

      I am really sorry to hear about this dear, it’s completely normal to feel hurt and betrayed. Those emotions are valid, so don’t be hard on yourself for feeling that way.
      Have you considered having a direct conversation with those family members? I know it might be difficult, but explaining your side of the story and how their actions have affected you could bring some closure. Even if they don’t change their opinions, it might help you feel better. Being manipulated while you are still at such age is terrifying because they control you and you are not aware on it, Im glad that you are over those hardships and free from the relationship as well. Its nice to know that you have the support of your family as well at those times, thats really important. Their positivity can really help balance out the negativity. Maybe spend more time with them or lean on them when you’re feeling down.
      Setting boundaries is also crucial. Protect your mental health by limiting interactions with the judgmental relatives. It’s perfectly okay to do that. Remember to focus on your present and future. Letting go of the past can be hard, but try to set personal goals that excite you and give you a sense of purpose. Practicing gratitude can also shift your focus from negativity to positivity. Think about the good things in your life and the people who love you. Positive affirmations can boost your confidence too.

    I'm almost 20, just graduated college. I literally locked myself into the living room to protect myself fron all the mental disturbance my parents and their golden child create. I starve like minimum of 24hr to 36hr regularly. I have some books to read and cloths to wear with me in the room, That’s it. I sleep, study, do all the stuff in a single couch. I'm surviving like this for a month now. They don’t let me work or go outside. They don't even provide food 2 times a day. They forget they have another daughter and make me starve all day. They call me to get out of the room in a day or two. When I get out they do give the food and then shout scream while I'm eating. They make me cry while eating and I feel like I was better locked. They put false allegations and then argue. When try to prove my point, I become the bad kid. I can't even get up and go back to the room cause I'm already starving for a day and half. Then swallow the disrespect and life's going like this. There's literally no one I can share my feelings and talk. I sometimes don't talk for days. I'm just grateful I'm not dead or crazy yet.

      My dear, I am sincerely sorry to read this. I can understand how challenging it can be to live with toxic family members.
      Check out this video I made last week on How I deal with TOXIC family members and become a HAPPIER person | Abusive sibling survivor: ua-cam.com/video/l9xgg6zYm4c/v-deo.html
      in this video, I share about my near death experience (several times).
      A few things that comes to my mind as I read your message:
      1. It seems you either have a phone or a laptop. Can you call the police for protection / help?
      You DO NOT deserved to be mistreated!
      2. If you can't call the authorities, then ask a friend to help you.
      Please take steps to take care of yourself because you only have ONE life. No one deserved to be treated like crap.
      Praying for you.
      Truly,
      Trish

    What you're saying works for people who want peace with you. This can't apply to toxic family who gang up against you and only want to hurt you. They don't want to understand and they don't want peace.

    • @TrishLee
      @TrishLee  2 місяці тому +1

      "I hear you, and I understand that not all family situations allow for peaceful resolution, especially when it feels like people are actively working against you. In cases like this, protecting your peace may not be about finding understanding with them, but rather about setting boundaries to safeguard your mental and emotional well-being. It’s true that we can’t control how others behave, but we do have control over how much access we allow them to have in our lives. For some, that might mean limiting contact or creating emotional distance, even if they don’t want peace. It’s never easy, but protecting your peace is always worth it." Thanks for watching! Hope you are well!

    It’s hard being around a toxic family member.
    You can neither severe ties with them nor run away from them.
    But it’s not ok to keep offending feelings of one’s blood,i would say people who are not blood related tend to be much better,for instance my acquaintances and neighbours with whom i have healthy ties if not getting along frequently but our tie is intact even if we meet irregularly.
    Unfortunately every family in this universe has that one villain in their family who always try to set fire to their own blood’s happiness and envy that they are leading a peaceful good life.

    My sisters don't put me down by what's said to me, more like what they say to each other about me or by excluding me from everything. Sometimes feels like they want nothing to do with me. I'm just inconveniently there. I'd be there for them but they can even share a picture to help me promote my art. Hell they don't even give so much as a casual glance or a oh that's nice. It hurts, especially when I have done things for them. They just don't want me to be part of the family.

    • @TrishLee
      @TrishLee  3 місяці тому

      I’m really sorry you’re going through this. Feeling excluded, especially by family, can be deeply painful. It’s understandable that their actions would hurt, especially when you’ve tried to be there for them and they don’t show the same support in return.
      You deserve to feel valued and appreciated, not only for your art but for who you are as a person. Family dynamics can be complex, and it might help to express how you feel to them, if you think that could lead to understanding. It’s also important to focus on your own well-being and surround yourself with people who uplift and support you, whether they’re family or chosen family.

Despite the fact that already they have wasted 5yrs just in conflicts and doing nothing else productive.
