HOT TIP!! I jumped in the car and drove to the Frattalones in Arden Hills like you suggested. All those annuals were 75% off now!! I bought about 80 plants for my daughter’s wedding for $150. Regular price would have been $600 plus higher tax. OMG. Thank you for the hot tip! And they had a lot of stuff still available.

Awesome! I'm going there this evening! They must be closing the tent early this year. I don't usually see 75% there off until after the 4th at the earliest.

Woo hoo! Just loaded up on trays of stuff and might go back this weekend if I find more places for things. So exciting when everything is $2 or less, even PW! When is your daughter's wedding?

September 14. I’m a little worried about keeping them all alive, mostly because i don’t really know what i am doing. 😅 I will just keep an eye on them I guess and move them into more shade if necessary. I hope i don’t have to move them all into bigger pots by then.

@@annespun Oh my, September is a long time to keep them looking good. I would suggest moving them up to bigger containers so they stay looking nice for the wedding. You could combine things into single containers too, like if you got any 6-packs. Combine several into a bigger pot to give them all more space for their roots to keep growing. Even the bigger 4-inch pot annuals will be happier if you can bump them up a little. Nurseries may be willing to give you used gallon-sized perennial plant cans if you need extras. I know I have stacks in my garage!

Maybe for the plants that need more shade you could plant tall annual in ground or pot to help your shade loving plants something like castor bean, thithonia, or some standard small tree/vine. I lost a trumpet vine ,that would cascade over some of my shade plants and I use a hibiscus standard I have potted to help shade those plants along side I also planted liatris that is about a three foot tall clump providing shade.

Good idea! I have some extra canna and elephant ears and was thinking if planting them in front of the area this year to provide shade and also look pretty. 🙂 Now that the days are getting shorter they'll start getting a little less sun every day.
