    I have 10 different hardy hibiscus in my yard. Always on the look out for more. They are truly a show stopper in my opinion. Also tons of rose of Sharon. Beautiful in any garden.

    Thank you for the hibiscus tour❤ I'm a beginner gardener and was looking for the candy crush but fell in love with the Holy Grail. After I came home with that beauty my man had to pick me up a cherry Choco Latte. I was so happy with them but the cherry's foliage has some beautiful dark pink in with the dark leaves. Can't wait to see next year's new ones once again thank you!

    I have had great luck with Evening Rose, cherry Choco-latte, and Berry Awesome, but my Ballet Slippers does not perform in my northern Michigan zone 5/6 garden. Planted on 2019, I was hoping it would be “leaping” by now. It’s interesting to see how plants grow (or not!)!!

    • @gardencrossings
      @gardencrossings  Рік тому

      That is very interesting. I would think that they should all do the same. Is that one possibly not getting as much water or sun?

      @barbaramccann7944 Рік тому

      @@gardencrossings last year I knew one was not getting enough sun, but all 3 (different locations) were just unhappy. I moved them where other successful hibiscus are located (planted with Biotone) but now in year 4 they are still only about 1 foot wide, perhaps 3 feet tall. They look sparse but I’m not giving up, YET!

    The newest one, Cookies & Cream looks gorgeous!!! I really like the dark foliage with the clear white blooms. Curious though as to why the one bloom has a pink tinge around it??? Will they all develop the pink ring? Or was this just an abnormality??

    • @suzannefronzaglio2427
      @suzannefronzaglio2427 Рік тому +2

      I was going to comment on that too. I bet it was hard to come up with a no-pink flower in this cookies and cream variety. And that you occasionally get a flower with a tinge of pink.

      U have to tie down the base of the stalk at the bottom of the plants to plant stakes on either side. Cuz if not. The wind gonna rock the plants and loosen the roots and the plant dies. Worse if it's a hybrid hibiscus. Will die quickly.

  • @GreenGrow-ck3pg

    Yes indeed & I never would have ever known the name of this specimen if I didn't accidentally propagate this in water. My grand parents had these in the late 80s. I thought how ugly of a flower. Now in my mid 40s they are okay. I only grow them bc they are extremely simple to propagate. I got the white ones, sky blue & beautiful off yellow all around my backyard. I wish roses were equal simple

      I have never seen a sky blue or yellow Rose Mallow. i bet they are pretty.

    • @lovehandr
      @lovehandr 24 дні тому

      @@gardencrossings There were a few blue-ish perennial hibiscus that came out about 10 years ago and I believe they were bred in Texas (Cordon Bleu, Bleu Brulee). Unfortunately, the flowers did not open widely and whatever the breeding background, they did not prove winter hardy here in Zone 4b. It was exciting when they were released but ultimately disappointing especially given how impressive recent selections are in the standard colour range. They made a big brief splash in the market and quickly disappeared.

This year, up here south of Boston, some tiny, green caterpillars 🐛 has found them and have turned the leaves into lace! 😭😭😭 I’ve sprayed with Neem Oil but, question 🙋🏼‍♀️ Will I have this issue every year?
