Project Stinky Ella - Day 1 - Tear down of the Cat N Sport Fiat 500 Salvage from Copart.

- The long awaited first day of the repair. A long long way to go on this one. It's gonna be a challenge but we need to start the tear down and see what's hiding under that bumper. The interior seriously needs sorting. It absolutely stinks in there and is covered with dog.
I use Elbow Grease to clean almost everything. It's amazing stuff and is really cheap.
You can buy 8 bottles of it for just £13.99 here on Amazon.

Its not waffle at all.....and a good missus letting you put the time in to film & fulfill your hobby 😉
Loved this episode. How can someone have a car in this condition? Great work Paul
Top video thanks for sharing 👍
I would agree, change that rad as I think it could be problematic down the line for the buyer and at least if you replace it there’s no comeback on you for it
Dent-Remover you tube channel ,thought mabe some ideas of body panel repair to help with this project , all very best , great show love it
Ciao paul un’altro bel progetto bravo
Project Umbr-Ella! 😂. Should be a nice car once you turn it around John-Paul.
You’ve probably already got one but if you need a scaffold pole let me know,I’ve got a couple lying around in the garden.
Cheers Dave. Where you based?
Sounded a bit down in this one Paul, think the filth was getting to you, how/why do they do it 🤦
Hopefully all good from now on 👍 I sprayed the backs of my seats, mishap shifting rubble, look as good as new 🎉
It was just how stinky it was. It’s much better now.
Hi are you sure that was the cambelt you was looking at and not the auxiliary belt?
I was looking at the aux belt which I said didn’t look 10 years old which would usually be done at the same time but as the sticker hadn’t been removed then the cam belt clearly hasn’t been done.
@@Love500 sorry thought you said the cambelt had been done.
But pretty sure you can't see the belt without taking the cover off
@@richardbest3575 you can from underneath.
Cracking price . I would try getting car a little closer to wall, raise a cut down piece of scaffold plank up wall and use a piece of 4x4 inch timber sat on stand or blocks of wood to meet outer side of leg were its still straight. Cut opposite end off crash bar bolt it back on damaged side then attach scaffold tube horizontally to crash bar {bind it on with length of rope around both} then use that as the leaver pulling it forward. Obviously needs a bit of heat on inner side were kinks are to help it (ideally two person job) . This would be how i would attempt to straighten it , lots would have their own way of doing repair and prob scold me but hey ho just an idea .best of luck with it Paul . regards Rich.
The high strength steel is very difficult to straighten, even with proper tools, so I reckon it will end up at bodyshop if he wants it looking right 👍
Sounds like that might be worth a try although crash bar has gone to scrap man.
@@Love500 Well you shouldn't dump anything until job is finished old boy 🤣
@@SalvageMasterEssex who would have thought I would need an old mangled crash bar 😫
@@Love500 The thinking is it will bolt up square to end cap and hopefully as you try to pull it straight it wont bend the end cap. Sounds good but only if it works
Any progress on this one yet?
Yes but due to me accidentally deleting the video half an hour after posting it I’m cobbling together some rescued bits, lots of it lost unfortunately. It’s been back on the back burner for a while.
Have you thought about buying some wheel skates to simplify moving the cars around. I used to do the same as you on Mk1 TTs and it makes life so much easier. Now do the odd Abarth and still use them. Just a thought.. I did an Abarth with the same chassis leg damage. I put a block of wood inside the good chassis leg and used my hydraulic tool to push the bent leg off the good leg. Worked well.
I have got some skates but really got them to get off a truck when I’ve got busted suspension. Interested in the concept of the block of wood. Isn’t there a danger of pushing the good leg over the opposite direction?
I wouldn't try that, would be alright for a light push but on this one you'll risk bending good leg out too far 👍
@@SalvageMasterEssex that’s what I was thinking.
isnt this suppose to be Cat S , looks badly damaged since front chassis leg is bent, just a thought ?
There are many that should be a cat N that are an S so it’s nice the other way round.
@@Love500 looking forward to 2nd video already, that leg will be a tough one but i am sure you will get it right
Curious how difficult/involved is to replace the chassis leg rather than repairing the bent one?
Not massively. I’ve done it before by cutting it out and welding a good one in but it was my first go at welding and looked a bit of a mess.
It's worth checking the fan pri resistor in the radiator surround when you change radiators cos they tend to corrode and fall apart then the fan won't function leading to potential overheating also the oil leak on the sump pan could be the crank pulley seal although uncommon to leak on these engines! As we known sump pans rust away and leak, drip oil aswell, your 1 looks corroded, crappy metal quality like the rear beam 🙄
Resistor is fine. I did check it. I don’t think there’s a leak but I haven’t inspected it properly yet. I’ll clean it up and see what happens.
Great price, Paul did you try Silverlake for your parts?
Yes, well their eBay shop but nothing.
Those back seats just need to go in the bin ..especially when replacements are available and aren’t too expensive.
Way ahead of you.
I just keep wondering what kind of dog it was 😮. 👍👍
A very hairy smelly one.
@@Love500Hope that was the dog 😲
My dog sits on the front seat (on a towel and I have seat covers) 😂
Well if it sits on front seat I hope it wears a seat belt 🤣🤣
@@SalvageMasterEssex it does indeed otherwise it beeps annoyingly 😂😂
@@sarahfrith1984 😂😂
meant to mention to cool "hat" intro last vid...anyone else comment on it? I got a laugh out of it
Only one person I think. 😃
@@Love500 - ooh..also...I love your "waffling"...I feel it makes your content more entertaining than people that go off a script....also...I do hope you washed your hands like a thousand times after putting them in that dirty water. 🤮
@@MarcoAntonio_72 I think I linked my fingers
they stopped knocking off the loading fee a month or so ago.
Did they? I’ll have to check my invoice. They kept it quiet if they did.
@@Love500 I know they did mention it but as I haven't bought anything for a while I don't know if they implemented the changes at my local Colchester branch or not 👍
Westbury are charging me £40 lot retrieval on my deliveries for about a month now
@@berneseduke yeah I checked my last three invoices, same here. They kept that quiet.
you really don't like dogs. How about a Love500 dog chewy toy for the merch shop?
Very cheap, are you ever tempted to take out the carpets and jet wash them ,when it’s a smelly one ?
Not really. They tend to come up de ent enough by wet cleaning them. Bit of a pain to remove.
@@Love500 I did wonder if it was an easy job or not that brand of radiator you mention is that from Halfords ?
@@simonp1 no I get them from carparts4less.co.uk but they seem to always be out of stock recently.
There’s a few red wings on eBay
Only old ones and ones in the wrong colour. Needs to be nearer the same age to colour match.
She took a little tap. Sad. Bonny car
