ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. The most effective strategy for individuals with ADHD is to work in short, focused sprints, similar to the initiatives used by Google.
How difficult it is to stick to a strict schedule. If you don't comply you get very frustrated. Your suggestion of two calendars makes us more human in every way. This is very real.
Two calendar method is really good especially like let’s say you’re going to time block for a new task, you can quickly check your past entries and do a better estimation
this video speaks VOLUMES to me. procrastination, stress, time blindness, perfectionism, doing everything last minute & the cycle repeats itself. my energy levels fluctuate so much throughout the day that i feel that im not in control. idk, sometimes i think that my body & mind work together just to auto-sabotage. its reassuring that im not alone in this fight (and that i might have an undiagnosed ADHD lmao). thanks for the advice ruri!! 💜 im excited to try this out!
My favorite is when people tell me, "You should write them down so you keep a list of the things you need to do today." The problem is, not only am I a Pro Procrastinator, I'm also a Forgetful Aficionado. I can write my tasks down on that piece of paper but I'll have no idea where I left that piece of paper afterwards.
Maybe a good idea would be to keep notes on your phone, or get one of those giant calendars to put on the wall above your desk? I can relate, but was reading Atomic Habits and have been keeping those things in more accessible areas that I see everyday so I don't forget... out of sight, out of mind 😅
As an autistic adult, I struggle with something called autistic inertia. After completing one task, it takes me a lot of time to start to focus on the next assignment. This amount of time varies, depending on how much energy I have on that day and on how many task-switches I did recently, but it is typically from half a day to a full day. Once I have started, I remain focussed even when I interrupt my work with for instance sleeping. The next day, I immediately pick up where I stopped before, to the point of postponing breakfast in order to get the work done - and it does not make any difference when I know that the task will take weeks (so skipping breakfast does not make any real difference). I used to confuse this with procrastination and/or a lack of discipline, and beat myself up for my inefficiency. I now realize that this is part of how I function and that I should schedule my tasks as bigger blocks, so when I am working on one project, I should not interrupt that to pay some bills for instance. And that I can actually use the time in between larger tasks, to do many small things that don't take a lot of focus, like household chores. See you next time, Paul
I think that the biggest problem with content creators now is their lack of strategy. Like they upload everything straight away, and then they run out of ideas. This business is about constant uploading, but not too many times per week (and also after I upload something, I use a bit of Famester to make that piece of content instantly viral and popular). It's better to upload like once or twice per week, and it helps to avoid burn out.
Since I met your channel I thought you was a really wonderful person, but now I can understand better the English and you became my most inspirational person, someday I want to be like you. I hope you achieve all you want and still growing ♥
Very well said about procrastination, it's a dream killer. Always stay with your daily goals and keep breaking the procrastination cycle. TYVM for sharing this with me Ruri 🖤🖤🖤🖤❤❤❤❤
Oh Ruri, you are very relatable. You are so matured and open-minded. I feel like you're a 100 years old trap in a young body. so much wisdom and honesty! Thank you. Im a mom with Adhd and when I'm stuck I watched your videos.
Your page is so helpful I’ve been talking about time management so much , and this is the second time I’m just trying to post all the time because because if I stop I feel like I’d procrastinate and not start again, everyday…. But this video is helpful cause I need to change my time skills to optimize sleep for ideas and more time
Thank you so much for your videos💜 I felt frustrated when I didn't follow my schedule strictly. But one thing that helps me about the time blocking method is time blocking with flexibility. I'm fine with not following the exact schedule as long as I have done what I needed to on that day. Time blocking to me is just a guidance but not something that I strictly have to follow. And I also use the time tracking to track how long does it take for me to do one task, it helps me schedule my task with more accurate prediction on how much time should I use💜
As someone with ADHD, your videos are so validating and relatable. If you ever make a course specific to folks with ADHD, I would love to learn from you!! 😊
I remember coming across a similar video by Rowena tsai about time vs energy management. The advice has worked for me better than time management and I’m glad more channels are talking about it so it reaches more people struggling like me. I’ll try the two calendar method from this vid thanks Ruri!
for the first time ever i felt like RURI ALSO HIRED AN EDITOR. though i was planning to pitch my editing service to her as it used to feel like nothing is there in video to demonstrate in a animated way btw GREAT EDIT RURI
I was just 5 minutes in, and this was already the most relatable video I've watched all year. Thanks a lot for this Ruri ❤. Your advice really helped me.
I've been following you for a while now and I feel like I look a lot like you in several videos, this was the one where I felt that way the most. Especially regarding the difficulties of ADHD, that part of the video where you cry reminded me of times when this happens to me and I even saw that you also have an MX Ergo haha. Thank you for valuable days like these, not only but especially for those of us who have this condition.
I don’t like time blocking either. Every week, I set three medium goals and break them down into daily tasks. I give myself three tasks a day and the freedom to tackle them however I want that day. I also combine this with certain habits to make it easier for me, such as writing first thing in the morning and working out twice a day. On weeks when I have low energy (like during my period), my daily habits and targets adjust according to my energy levels. It’s working great so far because I make progress without burning out.❤
Why has no one else talked about having a reverse log? That's something I gotta try! I also gotta work on condensing my tasks because I ALWAYS feel overwhelmed
Thank you for this video Ruri. I also have difficulty following time blocks but love time logging. Now I have to pay attention to patterns like you said. Hope you are doing well Ruri 😊
I binged your whole channel a year ago and got really inspired to do what I had to do. Recently I have been really struggling with guess what... EXACTLY what this video is about. Hi Ruri! It’s my first day subscribing to your channel!! And this is your 2nd video I’m watching! You give me ideas and motivation for my upcoming “fearful” podcasting 🤣😂 Yes, I’m still procrastinating on doing it.. but on the other end, I kept reminding myself to update a tiny little bit of my “script” in bullet points 😅 And since you mentioned ADHD, i just wanna let you know that I work in a bunch of health spaces, and some of the suggestions (below) are super useful. 1. Try eliminate gluten/wheat, all ultra processed food, and food that’s fortified with folic acid (yes, folic acid, get folate or methylfolate instead, it’s about methylation cycles/pathways) 2. Keep track of food that’s high in tyrosine (you may wanna keep a food journal), cos too much may make you more “hyper” mode, whereas less makes you inattentive, what you need is a balance here. 3. Other crucial vitamins/minerals include B2, B9 (5-Methylfolate), B12 (methylcobalamin), and Magnesium. I really hope these tips will help you or others having similar issues ✌🏼
Ruri your videos makes me so calm and peaceful, Thank you so so so much for making such a wonderful videos for us and I will always be your big supportive🥹💫💗
You have hit a lot of points in this video Yuri, I always struggle to follow schedules, and it always brings me down. I will try this daily and reverse log you spoke about, and see what comes out of it. Though I will like to ask, foes it involve using the calender?, or something else. Thank you for this video!
I love you Ruri, You've endured traumas, You've pulled yourself out of your traumas and now you have a big audience and now you're helping people. I deal with ADHD/ADD myself and I can so much relate to this struggle. IF I remember it, I use an egg watch to set a timer, and set the time to 20 min when i need to work. Then the 20 min only, I focus so much on my work and are full focused. So before I get distracted, the egg watch reminds me to take a break. So doing this many times in a day actually leads me to do more work and even get enough breaks, so I don't get burn out. BUT only if I remember the Egg watch 🙈 I will definitely try your suggestions! Thanks for sharing ☺

Hey Ruri! I love the energy and effort you put into your channel-your content is so engaging! I was wondering, have you considered trying a new style for your thumbnails or experimenting with some fresh editing techniques? Sometimes a few changes like that can really help boost views and reach a wider audience. Keep up the great work!
This is the first time I have heard about this whole "time blindness" thing, but it describes my situation exactly. I will definitely try your solution for a few weeks, it looks like it would help a lot. Teşekkürler kraliçe 👑 Next day edit: Okay, I just remembered that I did something very similar but completely forgot about it since it was 4 years ago. As a translator, I have always been good at estimating how many *days* a job would take. However, especially for smaller jobs, some clients always wanted to know how many *hours* it would take, so I started keeping a spreadsheet to provide more accurate estimations. I organized the translations into different categories such as law, business, fiction, etc. I also recorded the word counts of the texts I worked on. Each time I started translating, I would set a timer and record how long it took. After a month or two, I calculated the average time it took to translate 100 words for each category, and used that information to make accurate estimations. Now I'm trying to start an e-commerce business and need to do this again, but it was indeed very effective and helped me become more productive. Knowing the exact amount of time a task will take often reduces my tendency to procrastinate. Just wanted to share my experience.

This is the first time I have heard about this whole "time blindness" thing, but it describes my situation exactly. I will definitely try your solution for a few weeks, it looks like it would help a lot.

Next day edit: Okay, I just remembered that I did something very similar but completely forgot about it since it was 4 years ago.
