The dam insures the beavers ' nest' called a lodge which is a pile of logs and sticks forming a chamber for nesting and resting. The created pond has water deep enough to keep the entrance under water. That protects them against predators.

Years ago, I found myself saying "Someone should do this (fill in blank--pick up garbage, remove sticks, clear drains, etc) then one day I realized ** I am someone**. I have been doing things in community every since.

Hey Post! Love the video as always. I've always loved the way you talk about the spider friends you find on your travels. Your ID for most spiders was spot on, the only thing wrong was that the 'black widows' (Latrodectus hesperus or mactans) as you called them were actually brown widows (Latrodectus geometricus)
Hey Post 10, after that area gets some good rainfall you should go back and do a follow up video and try to get more of the debris away from the opening. I know a lot of us plus me would like to see you go back to this location. Keep up the good work and awesome videos we love them!!

You obviously didn't get to know him yet. This guy can do anything. He's gotten rid of more beaver dams than you could ever count. You seriously need to look at his channel and playlists. You won't regret it. His latest achievement was first noticing, then clearing, and then persisting again and again until a $2.2 million rebuild of a lake overflow drain that he knew was collapsing was complete. He knew it was creating a huge sinkhole under a busy highway. He was right. The sinkhole was filled, and they refused to reveal the size. That 6ft tunnel did collapse. This guy is something else.

Some time ago a storm caused damage in a nearby forest where I used to live and I just had nothing else to do than cut down dead branches of a tree with a lopper which were laying around and blocking the path (it was dark, rainy and I had no shoes on).
