I have the pro grand double oven, gas w grill. Do you rec the extended warranty/thermador appliance service plan? It’s super expensive-1K for five years? And 350 for one year?
Are thermador remote blowers reliable/durable? Also, I have a ph30hs range hood, I’ve had it for a while but never had it installed. We’re building a home now, so I picked up a remote blower and I think it’s for the ph30hws after further inspection. (the info online for these range hoods can be confusing). Will the blower work on either range hood? Or is the wiring/electronics totally different for the range hood models, thanks.

We'll never buy Thermador again. 10 years ago we bought a 36" gas cooktop, 30" oven, microwave and dishwasher. The dishwasher was free as part of the purchase. At year 6, 2 gas valves froze on the cooktop. Repair cost estimate well over $1000. In the trash. Replaced with GE Cafe'. Year 7. The microwave died. $750+ estimate to fix it. In the trash it went. Replaced with GE Cafe'. Last year, the oven failed. Luckily it was just the main thermocouple that failed. So it got repaired. Which brings me to "service". Located in the SF Bay Area, our "factory" service turned out to be subcontracted to a 3rd party service outfit. In the first 2 cases, it took over 2 weeks to get a service call. For the oven, it took 2 weeks, plus a week to get the part (as ordered by the service company). 3 weeks without the oven. $10,000 in kitchen appliances, half of which are gone. Never, ever again.
Yep. They are terrible. The $10,000 range died at 8 years. After a number of expensive repairs. It’s like they are made by range rover. I will check out GE Cafe.
Thermador was acquired by BSH group aka Bosch since then and they have improved a lot since then. A lot of old Thermador units aren’t able to be serviced because BSH isn’t making parts pre-acquisition because they can’t and won’t. It sucks, but it does make sense why they don’t. Same goes for Dacor when they were acquired by Samsung. Terrible acquisition but it’s the same deal.
Thermador refrigerators used to be made by KitchenAid so it’s not just the cooking products that are affected

Please discuss the backguard needed for the range if it is up against the wall so as not to scorch your backsplash.
Some places like San Francisco require you to have a back guard no matter if the wall behind you is combustible or not. Some places require a back guard only if you have a combustible wall. Just check your local codes. A lot of manufacturers have limited the BTUs of the back burners for that reason.
For example, Thermador used to have 18k BTU burners all the way around, but they have recently dropped the back burners to 15k BTU burners.
You’re not going to scorch your backsplash unless it’s made of wood or you’re doing something wild like keeping it on for days. Make sure you have proper ventilation to help with off gassing
Hello, great video! Question: do you offer cooktops? If so, do they apply towards the 1-2 rebate? We are looking to have refrigerator, dual wall oven, microwave, and dishwasher purchased.

How do I decide between Thermador gas or electric oven
I love Thermador
We want to replace our Thermador 30" gas cooktop with the Freedom Induction cooktop. 1) is it possible to just swap it out once you turn off the gas and add the electricity. It is sitting over a Thermador electric oven (PO301W). We are concerned about clearnance. 2) is there any sort of trade-in available? 3) How do we find someone to do the entire installation, from gas to electric?

Yes - I bought everything at Canadian Appliance, although I would recommend Appliance Canada or Caplan's - they are much nicer stores and prices are all the same. But order way ahead and be prepared to wait several months for everything to come in. Some items, like the dishwasher and range hood can take 6+ months.
"All three are basically top of the line Bosch dishwashers". Ha! In that sentence 'basically' is doing a lot of heavy lifting. The Emerald is basically a massively overpriced Bosch 500 series.

I bought a dual fuel thermodor range in 2003 and control board went and they told me they discontinued the model and I basically was just out of luck I contacted a company that allowed me to get a rebuilt control board and I put it in myself I'll never buy thermodor again
20 years old. I think you did okay.
I did the same thing I bought a Daycor 2001 my control to the oven went out maybe 10 yrs in it was replace, good as new 🆕 until this year but couldn’t get it replace because Samsung bought them out and we couldn’t get the parts because they no longer made them. So now I’m looking to buy a range but what do you buy looks like all I read is problems in all of them.

Dishwasher will not start
Do not buy a Thermador. If you have a problem, which I do, customer service is nonexistent. I spent $8500 on my range, and the oven overheats and has convection on full time. After 3 visits with equal number of parts they determined they can’t fix it. I contacted customer service and a month has gone by with no resolution. There are plenty of luxury appliances out there. Do yourself a favor and get something else.
Dishwasher will not start help!
