Very useful info! I just replaced the washer fluid pump yesterday following this video. One tip - the fender arch is nearly impossible to pry out from exterior, and you should NOT yank it with brute force since it might damage the tab on the plastic fender. So I loosened the two front tabs on the arch (as shown in this video) and that gave me enough space to remove the front fender liner. After the liner is removed, i was able to pry on the arch tabs from inside to release the arch. This is THE HARDEST step of the entire process 😂😂
Realize this is an older video now, but my washer is no longer spraying. I’m assuming it is my windshield washer pump, do you have a part number for the pump you purchased? Great video, thanks for sharing!
Would it not be possible to seal the leaking plastic part instead of replacing the whole pump ? I have the same issue now on my BMW i3s 😅 But at least with the i3s you have direct access under the hood to the pump. So I will probable first try to seal the leak and if it does not work, I will replace the pump.
It would sure be a great thing if somebody could just add longer tubes to the reservoir and mount those pumps in the engine bay where they are easily accessible.. I’m taking my X5 F15 back in for a second time for this. The first time they replaced the windshield washer pump but they didn’t do the headlight washer pump. Also, the rear washers only work for about 15 seconds right after the car is started. After that I get a low washer fluid warning and the rear washers quit working. Such a pain in the ass.
AMAZING.. I have some pictures of the curve outter cover. Therefore you can realize how to remove it. Not knowing how it looks like, harder to remove it
Very helpful video, but frankly just another reason to be furious at BMW. Might as well remove the engine to get to the leaky windshield washer system...... Frankly, I just want to swear and cuss, watching the degree of nonsense that you had to go through to get to the washer system. This is absurd, completely absurd. They couldn't have found a more accessible place for something that will certainly need service!?!? I need to walk away......count to "10"........ Unbelievable. Why do we continue to reward them by purchasing BMWs when they are so thoughtless towards their customers? Never again. Toyotas or bust.
This is my last BMW. Beautiful vehicle but the worst design ever. I took my X5 to a mechanic and they want $1300 to start could go higher should other parts need replacement. So at this point their guessing what part needs replacing. Hey BMW do better.
Spot on. This is so idiotic, to put a system that always needs attention after a few years behind a fender should be criminal. BMW should certainly not be rewarded for such thoughtless designs with new sales. It is an f'n windshield washer, literally a PE milk bottle with a fish tank pump on any other car design. Nooooo, the oh so clever krauts have to "integrate" the system into the wheel well. Wow, I'm impressed, up until the point I have to pay someone to fix it, or spend the weekend raising my blood pressure working on this teutonic nightmare!
Thanks for the video. Taking apart half of the car for such a small component was the worst nightmare ever!
You're welcome!
Very helpful thank you. Now I have to remove the fender . Very detailed on the clips and pins and screws
great video, exactly what I needed.. Happy New Year!
Same to you!
Great video thanx brother, I didn’t know i had a problem under the fender. I bought the car with windshield light not on when i drove off the lot.

Great video, thanks for sharing!
I bought it from my BMW dealer
Great video now I gotta do the job!! doing it for my neighbor?
Go for it!
Great video, quick question. How did you know which parts needed to be replaced? Therefore ordering said parts ahead of time
If the pumps work you could just order the seals but I’d replace it all
Great video
Thanks!

I'd just replace the pump and seal. Don't want to make things worse with the sealer

Thanks for posting I'm considering doing this myself. How long did it take you to complete the job?
Two days since I made a video :)
@@frazierpless8355 Wow, really? I guess that's why the BMW dealer wants to charge me $1,100 to replace the pump!
Awesome, mine started to leak and i never thought it would take so much work and i also have my valve covers leaking😳🙁time to get a porsche
Just fix it. Just wait until the Porsche breaks!
With the correct set of tools and some patience you can replace that valve cover yourself.
AMAZING.. I have some pictures of the curve outter cover. Therefore you can realize how to remove it. Not knowing how it looks like, harder to remove it
Thanks
A lot of damn labor for a washer pump, looks like a 2.5-3hr sitting.
Yes it is!
thanks man for your video, but I will not do it. I will fill the washer tank every 3 days rather than replacing of this damned pump 😤

No different on a Toyota, here's the procedure ua-cam.com/video/n3PtKfQxrrg/v-deo.html

This is actually one of the easier ones I've done on a modern car. They all are difficult since they are so large nowadays.
Thanks for the video and idiotic design by bmw
No problem 👍
'promosm'
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
Great video
