I love the tutorial. I know it's been posted a while. Only now I have the need for it. REALLY HELPFUL! You guys save the BMW fans a tone of money. Good job guys. My only advide will be : A voice guide will be best. We can focus on the steps instead of reading.
Just completed 2014 X5 battery replacement with a H9-AGM battery. No any warning and registration reqirement prompted. Every thing works as before. Thanks.
I don't think the car will give a warning for registering. The registration is to tell the car you put in a new battery so it would change the charging behavior of the alternator. Not registering the battery might reduce the life of the new battery.
Search online forums for problems coming your way if battery was not registered after replacement… Yes everything will work 100% right now and you may think why would I need to register new battery with my car, but there are valid reasons to do that and will only cost you more $$$ in couple of years, trying to save $200 now
Hello, thank you very much for the video, it helped a lot. I have replaced the battery on my F15 with a compliant Varta but not did the registration. Do you think this is a problem?
Highly possible it will reduce your new battery's life. The car charges the battery differently based on its age. Not registering the battery will make the car think it still has the old battery and would keep overcharging the new new battery which could reduce its life.
It looks like I need to replace my 2016 X5 F15 M sports battery, but when I looked at the battery compartment, I saw two batteries, one small on the right and one bigger in the left. Should I replace both?
@@DronethatThanks for replying back. I am about to get my aux battery from Costco this weekend i hope or the next , they have the interstate agm in stock.
@@burnjack291 How did the registration go with new battery? I just purchased Costco battery last night and my registration would not allow me to change the CCG specs. I think/hope it may because the Costco battery may not have been fully charged so I will try again after running the car a while.
True, the Autel is expensive if only buying it for this task. Have seen cheaper bmw scanners that clam to do the job on amazon, but I haven't tried any of them. I have used inpa and ista in the past, they are cheap to get but very hard to use.
i was told to reset my electrical system because air compressor is acting up - question if i disconnect my battery do i need to recalibrate like you did for any reason and will disconnecting my battery and holding the 2 cables together with that reset my elcetrical system ????
The battery registration is only needed when putting a new battery in so you wouldn't need to do it. I'm not familiar with your issue but I don't think disconnecting the battery would solve it and I wouldn't put the cables together.
@@ZakiGarage I put my two connectors together and blew up a module somewhere. Ended up costing me over 1,000 to have it fixed. definitely do not recommend doing that. LOL.
I would see what type the old battery is or go the parts department at the dealership and ask. Or check the parts catalog (www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/select)
An H8/49D battery class size is not as long as an H9 and usually has an AH (amp hour) rating of 90AH, 92AH, or 95AH. The H9/95R battery class size is longer and usually has a 100AH or 105AH rating.
Programming has to be done if you want to prolong the life of the new expensive battery. Does it have to be done by the dealership? No, any person with a capable scan tool and knows how to use it can do it.
Certain vehicles need to run more power as the battery gets older and weaker. To avoid damaging and allowing your vehicle to run properly, you need to register the new battery so the on board computer knows to run a lower voltage. TLDR Hit the reset because old batteries worker harder and new batteries can burn fuses.

The computer of your car will not let charge the Battery properly , BMW has set the trap for your wallet carefully , you can`t escape (me neither)
Great step-by-step instruction

I have a 2018, where can I purchase a battery? Also, is there an upgrade you recommend? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Not sure about upgrades but got mine from the dealership
Question, if I replace the battery myself, will it start without the flash? That way I would have chance to get it to the shop
Should be fine

What’d happen if I use a regular led acid battery on my X5? Will it explode?
