    These are in my opinion the very best mods you can do to the rc390 to get the most performance out of it. Sure they're not cheap, but nothing worthwhile is. Check out my previous videos to see the installation guides for suspension, and how i knocked several seconds off my lap times with these mods!

    Hi!
    I also have an RC390, I’m very glad with it. I did almost the same modification. I wish I had waited from your front suspension upgrade video before I did mine!!
    The biggest weight cut that I found where the battery and the front light.
    I changed the stock battery for a Lithium one. The difference is massive! Almost 5 pound!!
    I also took away the front light, it was super heavy. Of course, my bike is no longer street legal.
    Where do you ride? I’m also from Texas.
    Great videos, thanks a lot for them bro

      Pablo Fazzini I seldom ride my rc on the street. I mainly ride it out at msr cresson on the 1.7ccw layout. I also have since removed my front headlight and you're right. Massive weight savings. I haven't bought a battery for it yet, but it's at the top of my list. Then a light weight sprocket and chain set up. Check my other videos for more updates.

      RC Rider I have a membership. I really dislike ridesmart though lol. By their qualifications I'm more than fast enough for level 3 but couldn't ride my 390 in it...which is super dumb, cause I don't wanna be stuck behind 600's and 1000's pulling me on every straight, but blocking me in every turn. I still have my horn, it happens sometimes on the members days, I just start honking at people lol.

    Where did you get the akra re flash done? I just got a 2016 duke 390 and put akrapovic exhaust and a k&n air filter with a cutout air box. The dealership I bought it from (Riva motorsports) told me the akra remap isn’t a real thing it is just the idle reset which made no sense to me. I planned on getting a power command someday but I would love to try out the akra re flash. How did you have it installed and how much was it? My stock rev limiter is 10k and I hit it way to much when the bike wants to keep pulling!!! Btw I like the videos keep it up 🤙

    • @shiftlove
      @shiftlove  6 років тому +2

      well...your dealership either doesn't know what it is, or they're lying...either way, i went to my local ktm dealer and they reflashed the ecu from the white service port located in the tail section. there are two different akra maps, one for the akra exhaust with cat, and one for the revised akra exhaust for the 2017 motoamerica season. both of the maps raise your rev limiter, and i think since you have airbox mods youll want to get the catless akra map to compensate for the extra airflow. i dont recall the reflash part number, but if you google search it you should be able to pull up an rc390 forum with the info to give your dealer.
      thanks for watching! be sure to subscribe as i post weekly videos!

    Nice help Buddy!! Can I ask do you believe that the Akrapovic slip on exhaust will give any performance or it's better to go with ghibli mivv or even tyga double exhaust? And finally is there any better airfilter like DNA or BMC are the better ??

    • @shiftlove
      @shiftlove  5 років тому +1

      I went with the ghibli exhaust due to cost and extensive dyno testing done by formula390. It was shown that the competition works and other style short pipes make less power. The ghibli exhaust comes with a variety of baffle inserts to adjust back pressure and sound. So yes, these pipes can make more power as long as youv'e had the bike tuned for it. I used a drop in k&n filter because thats what was available at the time, and had the ecu reflashed because I wasn't so focused on making more power out of the bike then I was just having a little bit more sound, and having it run smoothly. The pipe, filter, and reflash made a few more hp, and made the bike more fun at the track. Do research on the exhaust you choose, and always have it tuned.

    Did you just bypass the ABS or did you remove the whole ABS servo and if you remove the ABS servo then how did you got the speedometer working. On the subject of rev limiter and mapping the ECU, there's a company (race dynamics) who makes piggyback ECU for KTM and it's plug and play so you don't have to cut any wire. You can shift your rev limiter to 12000 RPM, you can make your own fuel map and ignition timing map. I am using it on my RC 390 and it's awesome.

    • @shiftlove
      @shiftlove  6 років тому +1

      I just bypassed the module. Reused the brake lines instead of buying new ones too. I wish I could remove the module and keep the speedo. But I don’t think there’s a way to do this without going to a trailtech speedo or something similar. And thanks for the tip on the electronics. I’ll look into it. It’d be nice to make some more power. But I was interested in seeing how far I could push this on a budget without any real power mods. But I may be ready to add some power...

    • @cranky1812

    super channel, as I'm prepping up 390 RC too for track days this is very very useful ! very stupid basic question, I'm getting tyre warmers and I need a front stand. I can see you are using one that plugs at the top of the fork. There's a plastic cover up there on mine, can it just be removed?

    • @shiftlove
      @shiftlove  5 років тому +1

      yea, just pop the plug out and use the headlift stand. i actually prefer headlift stands to fork stands because you can move everything around on the front end easier.

      Mine also reachs higher temperature while driving in the street compared to when i ride on the highway. I talked to a few owners of another rc`s 390 and they had the same "issue". Dunlop alpha 13’s. They’re replacing them with the q3+ though. Eventually they will make the q4 available in the sizes we need. Another option is Pirelli supercorsas. You can’t go wrong there. It’s a great track tire.

      John Paul Victor I haven't had an issue out of it yet. I'm to about 5800 miles or somewhere close. I did preemptively buy a new radiator fan. And it's never over heated on me and I've never let it get that hot from sitting still either. As long as you're moving the radiator will cool efficiently.
