- Homemade Green Mango Atchar / Mango Pickle
@capemalaycooking
This is a very easy yet delicious mango atchar made from green unripe mangos which is generally available from September / October in South Africa.
Those who knew my mother in law will agree, she made the best atchar in Lansdowne. This tutorial was made using her recipe, only difference is she used to soak her cut mangos in salt water for days until its soft. We've since taken a short cut and know a days we give the green mangos a quick boil!
For convenience, I used my own atchar masala mixture, available online for delivery in South Africa and the UK at capemalaycookingdelights.com/...
You may of course use a different brand of atchar masala...

May I ask please, why do you add the pit? Thank you for the easy recipe
Is any mango or specific Manga for atchar only?
What is the spice mix for the achar masala mix, have to buy the spices separately and make up myself. Thanks
After adding oil, how long did you keep it before eating. I just sae the colour changing and thicknesd immediately aftet adding oil, or does it mean it's ready to ne served

Heat the oil NOT water
Jo with ripe onei? I one's tried , it was not good at all
N pits were like aloe (like bitter )
It takes me almost a month to make my traditional atchaar. Saw this video and tried the recipe yooo it so horrible
where can I get the original recipe@@swatilady5312 please
Don't you add any salt
There’s salt in the atchar spice already
The way people rave about atchar you'd think it tastes great until you actually try it.
It doesn't take great by itself (although not bad either) but when mixed with certain food, especially non spicy food, it makes it complements it. It's great in certain soup for example.
😂😂 true. But its a beautiful add on to certain dishes or stacked up sandwiches
It’s like an Avacado (i love avocados) 🦧
Maybe you didn’t try “proper” atchars yet 😊
