Scramblers in the Rockies! Ducati Scrambler vs Triumph Scrambler | ON TWO WHEELS
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- Before there were ADV bikes, enduros, or even dirt bikes, there were Scramblers. Simple, versatile bikes that you rode everywhere, including off road. In this episode of On Two Wheels, Zack and Ari take on the Rocky Mountains aboard modern-day Scramblers from Ducati and Triumph, to see what motorcycle adventures were like before the advent of the modern ADV bike.

Finally someone uses scramblers the way there were intended. Not just going to Starbucks.
Exactly
Too expensive for this abuse.
Went dirt biking in the red wood mountains gonna get a scrambler I plan on taking it there
I agree with what you said except the big rocky part... Bike is just too heavy and not enough clearance, it isn't an Enduro.
🤣👍
I'm more impressed by these guys skill than the bikes themselves.
And hallelujah for that! A rariety these days where youtube lardasses are looking for technological "advances" to replace the lack of being "men"!!
Absolutely, these fellas dirt skills are amazing.
@@tonyboughman8050 You took that to a weird fuckin place dude hahaha
Their skills looked pretty entry level to me. I still take my hat off for having a go though.
Yes!! They're awesome!!! Lol @ the woods
As Tolkien said, "Short cuts make for long delays."
Triumph sounded so much better after the weight reduction
+OspreyBravo18 Looked better too!
Dont know why Triumph is still using this shitty exhaust system :-( And buyers need to replace it with after market one in most cases.
OspreyBravo18 oh yea definitely agree
No shit. It sounded GREAT
So true!
I happened to run into this video and I'm glad I did. This was one of the coolest down to earth videos around, no hype or bs, just plain adventurous fun. I appreciated the nod you gave your dads and also staying with the retro look. Reminds me of old films I saw of my dad spinning his Triumph in the mud, taken just after the war. That little Duc and also the Triumph were really put to the test, you guys rode them well. I've had four Ducs over the years, my latest is the 999R. My hats off to you guys!
+Ari Henning
There's something to be said about taking inappropriate equipment to out of the way places!
I've got to say, I'm surprised you didn't break any shifter/brake pedals on the Scrambler... I'm on my 3rd shifter and 2nd brake pedal ;-) and loving it!
Nice name - great video.
Clearly the Ducati was the better looking bike scooting around with a rider on it.
please like, share n subcribe my video guys.. 😘😘

That is such a great comment, well said. Very well said all.
The voice of your dad's saying "turn around, boys" when you opened that gate to singletrack land...lol. Very professional video, yet lotsa fun. 2 thumbs up!
What they won't tell you: the cameraman rode a scooter.
Won't doubt that one bit, you need at least one pair if wheels capable of hauling ass in such terrains when the rest are just overpriced pussy-bikes.
Krzysztof Bosak lol
Honda sells an adventure scooter where I'm from.
@@jerdasaurusrex557 Are you from planet earth too?
@@jerdasaurusrex557 Honda x-adv eh?
4:15 As a fan of traditional (retro) bikes I am glad to see that Triumph does stick rigidly stick to their tradition of attaching parts not very rigidly ;-)
I wouldn't call you guys idiots. I think you're right, that's the true spirit of offroading. Bikes are supposed to be fun, and you guys once again showed that you can have fun on these bikes! Awesome video.
How can you not love this sort of video? These guys' personalities, the retro throwback bikes and gear, awesome scenery and terrain! This is living, these guys got it right.
7 years later and this is still a great video. Especially because it shows the actual limit of what these bikes will actually do - knobby tires included.
Must be true. I didn’t realize it was an old video until I read your comment
The best thing about the video is that they didn't compare the bikes like in the other videos. They showcased the true nature of the bikes and showed what they are capable of!! Keep up guys!!
These are the best motorcycle videos on UA-cam
William Wallace as a Fortnine fan, I'd like to have a word with you.
BlooJay lol
GOD DAMN!!!! FINALLY a worthwhile motorcycle video on youtube! You guys are FAR better at this than those who pretend to be seasoned motorcycle journalists...and you capture the TRUE spirit of adventure in this video!! Jealous?...damn straight!! Impressed? ...ABSOLUTELY!! You just gained a new subscriber!!
This was one of the best "review" videos I've seen. I can get all the specs from the company website and when people doing a review focus on the minutiae the personality of the bike gets lost.
From this video, I feel as if I have a good understanding about what it's really like to ride those bikes. You showed where the bikes worked well and where they reached their limits while at the same time coming across as regular guys who are reasonably good (competent) riders. Well done! I subscribed and I look forward to more videos like this.
I started riding in 1972 on the old enduros and those were great days.

Well said
No 2 inches of tyre should be riding over 6 inches of rock.
2 Clowns disrespecting professional engineers.
@@dreyn7780 Tell that to the trial bikes :)
awesome, this is what the motorcycle community lacks. just plain down to earth test rides that is suppose to be fun and sets value on the feeling of the bike and goofing around, not all about data on horsepower and suspension or chassie or other stuff that is secondary... most of the customers don´t care if bike x is 3 horsepower less than bike y.. for most of us it´s the feeling of the bike and/or the lifestyle that it represents or comes with it....
No, that's the fault of male gossip.
Keep away from men. Don't speak to them about anything and get to tune your bikes and have a great time on earth.
LOL when the Trumpy’s muffler came off. Props for living the real ADV spirit: it’s not so much about picking the machine itself, as much as what you choose to do and where you choose to go with it. You guys now have some epic stories, pics, and video.
PLEASE NEVER STOP MAKING THIS SHOW!!! You guys are a blast to watch and the realism of this show is great!! i love the adventures you guys do! Ride safe!
I need a scrambler right now
Yeah tell us
@@jaidevtyagi1033 Something close, got a dirt bike modified for dual sport. Thinking of a Svartpilen tho
@@iTooob nice bro... Keep it up. Happy to hear 😁😁😁
You guys are my heroes. Watching you guys tear it up in the mtns. reminds me of my childhood on my KDX175 and a axe making my own trails in the hills of TN., Now I sit and dream of days gone pass from my wheelchair from over aggression on my ZXR1200 back in 2009. Lucky to be alive and able to watch you guys and dream of that CanAm Spider...Never say never and never give up. Keep'em coming it was great.
When the triumph lost its exhaust I just thought to myself “eh sounds better that way.” Because I owned a straight piped Bonnie a few years back 😂
Hands Down best Review ever.I Never understood the scrambler Hype. Now i Need One.
I come back to this clip every few years just for the good will of it .. I have a 2017 Street Scrambler left over for a great price and have 11K on it with 2 seasons of riding around my local back roads ..It is a wonderful back, bumpy road roadster ...Broken a few bits off dropping it in deep sand and gravel but with lots of laughs every day ..
Motorcycling needs you guys! Keep the vids coming. Looking forward to the S1000XR video
You guys rock. So glad to see these two still churning out the videos. Keep 'em coming!
Very cool guys. Really enjoyed the video!
This is probably the most entertaining "On Two Wheels" episode yet. Thanks for going out and trying something a little crazy!
Best episode of the season so far! Keep em coming
This was really cool. I grew up hearing stories from my dad about Triumph Scramblers from the 60's and this makes me want to sell my Speedmaster and get a Scrambler more than ever.
One of the best motorcycle videos I have seen in a long time. I suppose Ducati Scrambler is a better one of the two considering the fact that it a full 48 Kgs lighter than the Triumph and 18 horses more with the almost same torque. Some Skid plates and upswept exhaust with some tuning to the suspension would make the Ducati a really good offroader .
The Ducati would be incredible with some longer suspension travel and an engine guard! The look of it is also really cool, modern yet classic. And good size tires too
Ducati desert sled :)
Reminded of me of taking my Bonneville down the fire fighting trails of the Brown County Forests during the mid-60's, often at night, in all kinds of weather. I didn't know anything about off-roading and I never saw anyone else on a bike off the road; I just did it, because it was fun.
You'll have a cracking story to tell the grandkids in 40 years from now. Bravo!
This video really made me smile. It's what riding a motorcycle is all about. FUN!
I really enjoyed watching this episode! It’s great to see the extent of these pretty bikes’ ability to “rough it out” off road in nature. I myself ride the Cafe Racer version of the Ducati Scrambler outside of its “pre-destined cafe norms” ... 😬 with clip-ons, and stock Pirelli Diablos on 100+ mile trips with unexpected off road routes, but NOTHING like this video. Great video guys!!
Amazing for your video of Scramblers in the Rockies! Ducati Scrambler vs Triumph Scrambler | ON TWO WHEELS. It is really happy with your driving.🥰
I went to the Rocky's and it took my breath away and I went to the hospital for a week
Zack + Ari = Zachary, two awesome guys on bikes.
UN vídeo genial!!! yo tengo una Urban Enduro (Ducati Scrambler) y la meto por todo tipo de terrenos, es una moto divertida y ligera. Vss!!!
No sorries! Great job! Great cartoon music to match the excellent 'fun at any cost' bouyant attitudes! You guys rocked it!
Welding the muffler back on? I'd say losing it was an improvement.
Something tells me you don't have a bike. ;)
I've never liked those pairs anyway
It could affect the jetting/ fueling and have a bad effect on the engine.
@@thumpertorque_ I just commented on this, would that matter with fuel injection also?, i have only ever owned carbed bikes.
@@stehfreejesseah7893 yep it also matters. That's why its important to tune the ecu on FI bikes after changing the exhaust to prevent backfiring
i used to live near there and owned an adventure bike and never knew this existed. I live a thousand miles away now but i want to make the trip. this looks amazing
The Triumph sounded better without the muffler
That Triumph sounded sick as hell! :)
When you think about it, lawyers have killed of ballroom dancing. Look at the fun things we've traded away for NO benefit to our lives.
We've traded 100's of activities for a much worse life in 2020.
THis channel deserves millions of subscribers, it is the best motorcycling channel on youtube
The Triumph sounded great without the silencers...
I could smell the dirt, grass and mountains in this video.
You should have invited one more and taken the RnineT scrambler with you. Would love to see how it coped.
Would have lost a cylinder head going down like the triumph did many times.
Dude one drop, and they'd crack the cylinder head cover and be stranded
Yeah that would have been interesting.
I love the scrbler style coming out but haven't seen many people out to put them to the test. great to watch you guys having fun and getting muddy.
These are the same bikes being sold on Craigslist with “never been dropped” in the description. Lol
I wanna see these guys try this again with the new Scrambler 1200. I'm still excited as hell for that bike.
Fantastic video!
lol
Looking at getting a triumph scrambler 2015, and 100% not going to go this heavy offroad. So glad to see the bike actually did pretty well seeing it was not meant to do this kind of riding.
I bet you guys were happy you had TKC80's! Keep it coming guys!
You guys are awesome. Street tests of these bikes are a dime a dozen, but people who are willing to test them offroad like you did seem to be scarce. Thank you for sharing. My first scrambler was a honda CL 350, and I drove it to work every day, and drove it on the trails on the weekends and occasionally raised a few eyebrows at the MX track when the guys on their RM 125s could not shake me off their tails... Thanks also for pointing out some of the off road issues, like the Duc and the lack of ground clearance.
Great video, would've loved to do this with ya. The triumph sounds better sans exhaust, haha.
Kinda of reminded me riding my 305 Honda scrambler on the fire trails in hills of northern Michigan in the 60's , totally enjoyed watching your ride...
that bike sounds so sexy with no muffler
It just like "day gone".... without zombie.... how cool is that
Hey..man..I was thinking the same!!
i would guess the camera guy was on something more capable
I think they showed a pretty good off road capability (the scramblers)
He rode a vintage Vespa...
Like a horse
Very generous guys, all the hard work and looking silly was a pretty good time for me! Thank you good job.
That is probably one of the better reviews of a pair of multi purpose bikes. It looked fun. I did that on a1971 Triumph Tiger for sixty thousand FUN miles mostly east of the Mississippi. More fun than any other bike that I owned, from a nifty thrifty Honda 50 to a Suzuki GS1000 Rocket.
Nice bikes... I like the Ducati, but not suitable for rough handling
Motorcycle riders for romantic 70s
Good adventure video
best regards
Medel
ouch scrambler muy bonitas pero ouchh
Nestor Tellez si... pero son tan bonitas... la ducati la que mas
The video contradicts your statement
+OspreyBravo18 Until they try to go into the woods but up till that they proved that dirt trails with rocks and mud aren't something that these bikes flinch at and you can have some fun adventures and still be aesthetically pleasing.
What video were you watching? The Ducati did well here all things considered. Certainly proved to be better than that Triumph, least it didnt have any parts fall off of it.
The scenery and sound of that bike with the mufflers off reminded me of the great escape
This looks fun as hell. A lot of respect for tackling those double diamonds!
Nice video!
These are my favourite type of bikes, and I think what I got into riding for. A little two wheeler that is versatile, looks good and can take you most anywhere.
One point to think about is that most 1960s and 1970s Scramblers were anywhere from 100cc to 500cc with the most popular being around the 350cc until trail bikes like the Honda SL 350 made them obsolete ,, 800cc and over as a scambler is a bit nuts and a bit heavy IMO ,, They need to make some at about 350cc ,that would be worth a look ,, but I think an XR400 R or a hair raising Maico 490 is a bit more practical ( well maybe the Honda anyways ) lol ,, or you can do as other's do and custom build a scrambler from old CB Honda's and such ,, : )
+Steve O'Hare yeah im wondering why triumph doesnt do a 675 version of the striple for offroad that would be a 107cv 160kg moto it will be the perfect scrambler this one is too heavy and not handling well at all
+Steve O'Hare I rode a BSA B40 as a trial's bike in the '70s and it was great getting through places where other bikes struggled.
I rode a 1972 Yamaha TY 80 Trials bike as my first bike ( for Trials ) ,,A wee bit smaller lol
Michael Fulks Wow ,,Love those old BSA's ,, bet you wished you had it now ,, I had an old Montesa Trials and a TY 125 ,, lots of Bultaco's back then too where I was : )
+Steve O'Hare .. BSA's, Bultaco's, Montessa's and lots of other off road bikes bit the dust when the magazines started doing dynos and showing how little HP they actually had... too bad they didn't upgrade their products so we'd still have lots of companies to choose from... of course, it was also difficult for them to compete with 40c/hour Asian wages...
When I first bought my Multistrada I believed the hype that it was an adventure bike. I took it on Owl Creek Pass west of Gunnison to Montrose. Not terribly difficult, but certainly taught me the adventure part of ADV should be in lower case. I wouldn't even consider riding it on the trails you guys took. You both have a big pair of brass ones!
Awesome video guys! You really fueled my recent fascination with scramblers. I'm 6'3 300lbs and currently ride a DRZ400S, do you think they make one that I could adapt well enough to fit me? I'm afraid of a broken back and dead suspension.
+ColoradoDualSport I want to do this rally with you and Hermit some day. Looks so fun!
Capable bikes ,not just for the extreme off roading. Thank you for sharing
Hey what are the brands and specific names of your leather jackets?
Interested also in knowing brand and model from jackets!
I know aris jacket is a scorpion 1909
The soul of motorcycling on full display. Amazing video
Just wondering how the royal enfield himalayan will do on this route!
hahahhaaahahahahahahahahaaaa
hahahhaaahahahahahahahahaaaa
the idea is not that crazy, royal enfield are incredible bikes, it has a 410cc very utlra mega reliable engine that runs forever, is the adventure bike for india... or you just can go for a new 2016 KLR that will do the same but cooler
That was a real challenge for man and those machines. Much tougher than l was expecting.
Guys didn’t bring any tape, ratchet strap, wire, or jb weld?
My Enfield always had this problem, silencer falling off at the wrong time. Nice to see you taking that home. Nice video and keep on sharing
great vid! We could do without the woo-ing.
+jakobreid79 Sorry, we'll tell the boys to have less fun next time!
+Motorcyclist Magazine seriously...some nerve! ;-)
+Motorcyclist Magazine Could you tell me what jacket ari henning is wearing, I can't seem to find it online. Thanks!!
The Scrambler 62, yes!
I have been watching these dudes for years, awesome content, always.
What is the camera man riding.! Seriously?
Vintage Vespa 125
This is the kind of terrain I was hitting every day in the summer on my pieced-together 90cc, '74 Honda. Then on my 200 cc Yamaha dual sport.
ordered a scrambler on ebay for $40.39.....
Whattt 😂😂😂
At 5:15 the Triumph finally sounds like the bikes your dads would have really rode!!
"taking a Ducati offroad" just doesnt sound right somewhow.
That last shot was beautiful!
How to ruin 2 nice new bikes
Awesome video. i have not ridden the Triumph, but I have the Ducati Scrambler and props to you for keeping that already jumpy throttle it has under control when bouncing through rock gardens like that.
I did notice the wheel hugger / plate holder on the ducati disappeared somewhere. LOL
Poking around looking at enduro and scrambler videos and I came across this. I have to say, you guy impressed me with the limits you brought these bikes too and I will watch any video with this type of testing! I don't care if you are on a roadking hitting the back woods! Great video!
That is a kickass video. This is amazing quality even by professional standards. Hats off to your cameraman and editor. And you make motorcycling look fun.
Suddenly that muffler coming off is the best thing ever. sounds proper !
Great job guys! I'm totally one of those 300\250 2 stroke guys who rides in the rockies, and you were doing so great on those machines! and then ride them on the road again, so awesome! brilliant video!
Props for the treck ~3min mark on those scramblers. The whole trip looks like a great time!
Wow! You guys are living the dream. And thanks for showing us how beautiful Colorado is on bikes.Great Video!
Gonna keep it short and to the point. I love watching the video's you all produce.
Well guys that was a breath of fresh air review-absolutely stellar! I hate these reviews when you're looking at an adventure bike and all they do is ride round canyon sealed roads and putter around a nearby lay by area and call it a review. I think what you did was properly test both bikes under all sorts of conditions and leave people to draw their own conclusions from what they see. Very honest comments and entertaining-well done! I hope you do more reviews in the future!
The triumph without the muffler sounds soo good!
For, at times, being totally out of their element, they both did extremely well. And, although the Triumph muffler bracket broke, I personally think it's the better looking and all around bike. Thanks for an honest un-biased review..looks like loads of fun.
+gremmann Yeah...I ride a Triumph.
Looked like a lot of fun. Almost as fun as riding the Jake Pine !
Watching this right as I'm upgrading/repairing my 73 Honda cl350 scrambler k5
Never been so jealous in my life. This definitely beats the streets of NYC.
Best comparison Duke and Triumph both are famous brands. Nice to see they are back to the market and still keep their popular name.
This vid came up in my recommendations. It would have to be the best ive seen on UA-cam.
