Suzuki VanVan 200 vs. Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro Rags to Riches! | On Two Wheels

- Опубліковано 4 сер 2024
- Instead of some faraway land, Zack and Ari are off on a local adventure, and turned it into a challenge: what’s the cheapest (and most expensive) way to go camping on a motorcycle? Ari has chosen his weapon, and Zack has piled multiple weapons on board his machine. They’re off to the wilderness where blue skies, and some trouble, await.

When Zack pulled that knife out, I thought "That's exactly what I need for my ride into London".
He'll say it's “part and parcel of living in a big city” ;)
I keep one similar in the van but not sure where I’d put it on the bike! 😆
MrH fucking right it’s true.
Oh actually you know what I’m a mean racist!!!! You know because stating overly obvious facts is being racist!!!’
MrH yes! I think we need to be more culturally sensitive towards the rape!!
I'm nervous when I ride into London and I'd be worrying about my bike every night if I had to park it in the city.
Without a doubt, the best motorcycle show on TV, internet, or otherwise. An honorable mention to 44 Teeth.
I wouldn't want to choose between these guys and 44T... they're both must watch video for me. The four of them should do a trip together I bet it would be pretty hysterical.
Fortnine
Love these guys, definitely my favorite
44T BBB has been hilarious so far
This and 44T are the only bike channels worth subscribing to.
I have the VanVan 200. I have terrible coccyx tailbone pain. I thought I’d never be able to ride again. The seat of the Vanvan is so comfortable, I’m back to riding! 🙂
Awwwww Zack brought a second chair for Ari, that's the cutest thing ever, bromance on!
I prefer the van van! The multistrada is too big, heavy and technical! And fitting advanced electronics to an Italian bike is dangerous. So many things can go wrong!
Italians are the reason the phrase "the less there is ,the less can go wrong" isn't accurate a lot of old simple Italian cars and bikes are not reliable at all,as I grew older I realized reliability is more related to good engineering and design language
100%
Got a Vanvan 200 after watching this video. $4500 Canadian (= to $3400 US). Great trail bike and commuter.
Its new vanvan?
@@evgenygolovlev9579 yes.
I’ve been wondering if anyone commutes on it. I’m looking at the vanvan because I have a short commute on city roads, and also being able to ride some trails is a plus. Wanted to know if you’ve modded it at all or made any gearing changes, etc.
@@adamdowns3075 yes, I changed the rear sprocket to 42 from the original 46 so i can go 60mph without over revving the engine. Put a small windscreen to cut through the wind at higher speeds. Put a rear rack. For city commuting it's perfectly fine stock.
Yamaha TW200 great option too
I want to see a heads-up between the VanVan and the TW200. Heck, toss in the Himalayan too!
That would be an awsome trip, do likev the hull road or something
Did this ever happen..? Sounds like the perfect video
I think the van van and the tw would be way out of the Himalayans league
TW 200 needs fuel injection.
Trying to decide on TW or VV, presently.
As a cafe racer guy, I fell in love with the Van Van instantly! Great content you guys have!
you know you won at life when your best plan is breakfast..lol
Damn that looked fun. I'm a vanvan guy. No multistrada for me.
Ladybug Adventures. Yep me too and I'm a big guy. 250, a tarp, a sleeping bag and a knapsack(with a hammock in it for rough sites or hot nights and a micro cooker). Oh I stretch the tarp off the high side. If it rain the bike drips down to the kickstand.
Same I love VanVans
Ladybug Adventures agreed same here
I would buy a 400cc vanvan
@@Dave-sw2dm It s my first time to know 400CC on sale abroad. As 200CC is Max Van Van in Japan.
"this is exactly the right amount of adversity for us"
haha loved that line.
Zack: "Nature, here we come!"
Nature: "Oh god, not again..."
This haha ^
Wow, excellent video! Although I am not a huge fan of big bikes off road, the amount of gear they can haul is amazing. I loved how you guys showed that no matter the budget, motorcycle adventuring is a great way to get out there and have some fun. In fact, an argument can be made for making do with less as it adds to the adventure. Loved this video!
14:11
I gasped out loud. Almost like the first time the new&improved General Lee took damage in the Knoxville-Scott version of Dukes of Hazard.
You guys always remind me of enjoying the simple things in life... Go Ari, show us more examples of what‘s really important. That Multi sliding down the hill looked a bit scary. On two wheels - the best youtube has to offer when it comes to inspiring people to enjoy life. Seriously, it speaks for itself that you will soon reach 400.000 subscribers! Looking forward to the next episode.
Best motorcycle channel on UA-cam. I would rather have the vanvan for this trip.
Absolutely love the chemistry between you two! Awesome fun!
I own a small 150 cc bike and guys thank you for your inspiration. I love your videos and that final quote was amazing. Really looking forward for more videos.
@@quru83 Tu kaun hai be?
Definitely the best motorcycle channel on youtube, I always have a great time watching Ari and Zack have a great time.
True friendship. Brings an extra chair because he knows his bro will regret not bringing one.
Have to say you guys put out the best content on UA-cam along with 44 teeth and TMF
1990 they are so funny well worth watching
Agreed! Though I'd also have to add Schaaf, FortNine and RoyalJordanian. :)
Don’t forget Fortnine!
Siper2 for sure
Motogeo is great too
5lb bag of whey protein disguised as a sleeping bag.
daniel wright hahahaha
love the dynamic of you guys out in the world doing your thing. More please - just more.
What an awesome vid! On2Wheels is by far the best moto series on UA-cam! Really wanting to do some moto camping this summer for some weekend adventures to get out of the work grind and this is pushing me closer to hitting buy on some soft luggage to upgrade from my current bungee cord system..
This was absolutely awesome guys. Great footage, great scenery. Just all round loved this episode ❤️
I watch this video every once in a while, it's simply so nicely made!
Absolutely LOVED this, fellas! You do really, REALLY brilliant work for this channel, guys!
Zack - a lesser man would have tumbled that Multi when the back swung that first time on the way down that steep pitch near the top of that hill! NICE WORK!
Going scooter camping on my Burgman 400 tomorrow and this got me all hyped up. These are my favorite videos you guys do. Good job.
The Burgman is a great scooter! Honda sells an adventure scooter that is not available in the USA www.honda.co.uk/motorcycles/range/adventure/x-adv/overview.html
Been on both ends of that spectrum and I love it, Motocamping is addictive when your destination is remote... or Wales
Great video! That looked like a lot of fun!
I was looking at a VanVan 200, for the first time ever, just yesterday. It took me back to simpler days when I would 'adventure bike' (we just called it "ride" back then) on my 1972 Honda XL-250. The world needs more basic motorcycles like that: mechanically simple with seats low enough for normal people. We used to think 5" of suspension was plenty and it actually is so there's no compelling reason to have a 36" seat height on an enduro.
All of that being said, it would be really good if the VanVan had a big brother. Perhaps a VanVan 350? A little more oomph for those big hills would be nice.
These guys are entertaining and fun to watch. Keep these great adventures coming!
I love what you do. Keep on the good work. Respect from Colombia.
I love that little Suzuki- very 1970’s, reminds me a lot of my 69’ Kawasaki F4, but with disc brakes!
Love these buddy adventure vids!
Great video guys. Its always a pleasure to see you two riding !
That was one of the best bike videos i have ever watched. Thank you guys
You guys are awesome! 🏍
Small bikes are pretty amazing! Highways are probably their weak spot
The only weak spot
They can do 70mph just okay
trust me in India you need guts to open up a 200 cc bike to its fullest
I've done 115km/h or 71mph or my Suzuki gsxs 125 with 15 HP still not really comfortable
Exactly.
love this show, thank you guys, I'm a firm believer in make the most of what you've got. I have a 1983 Suzuki DR750. and it gets used a lot. I'm from Zimbabwe. and love the show keep it up
This is perhaps the best motorcycle camping video I've seen. Great job guys - a new subscriber!
This could be commercials for many of the items or bikes in the episode, as always so envious of you guys having the chance to ride those good bikes in the great nature. Especially when we guys even couldn't ride a Harley or Triumph on our highway in Taiwan :(
The reason it feels like a commercial - is because it basically is a commercial. who do you think lends them the bikes? If they shit talk the manufactures, they burn bridges, and stop being invited to luxurious European test rides. It's a win win, manufactures get advertising, and reviewers are given bikes to "review", expensive holidays and media content like UA-cam videos and magazines that make them money.
The best part was when he ate shit on the Ducati, lol. Give me the VanVan every time for something like this haha.
great video , I would love to take my bike on a trip like this in the future. keep up the good work!
So epic! Loving these longer episodes!
Those VanVan's are pretty sweet. I'd ride one for sure. A better offroad choice for Ari in this video would be a TW200 I'd say.
Fun indeed! I ride a 100cc 600$ motorcycle myself and have ridden it around the country on various occasions, cheap to own and run with spectacular gas mileage. Plus you feel more badass i.e Ride, Break, Fix and repeat! :D
What kind of bike is it? The last street legal dual sport bike that was sold here in the US that I'm aware of was the Kawasaki ke100 two stroke. Great little bike and fast for its size. I know that there are many options in that size in Asia and Europe so very curious to know what you are riding.
This it's what it's all about. Too many armchair CC warriors commenting.
@@dylanmacaya9166 Sorry, I missed your comment. I ride a Bajaj CT100B in India. It's 4 Speed and the cylinder configuration is similar to the Honda XR100, though it was Kawasaki that brought this engine to Indian in the form of the Kawasaki 4S Champion back in 1994 IIRC. Kawasaki and Bajaj used to work together until recently.
You guys should do these more often. This was AWESOME!!
Another great video from the Dynamic Duo! Thanks guys.
9:17 - 9:27. The motorcycle noises line up perfectly musically with the background music. Was that deliberately edited or just fluke or is it in my head as a musician?
Really enjoying your content and I don't even ride.
Luv and Peace.
What kind of bike is the best at being a cameraman vehicle in adventure videos? I know 44 Teeth uses an R12GSA.
You guys made me smile. That is nice after the day I had at work.
Great content, awesome viewing! From a big fan in the UK!
love watching video
frm malaysia
great episode, amazing, you guys are amazing
Staman
I don't think they're gay...
mistake, I also think they are not gay :D
Excellent episode lads. Really fun to watch. Keep it up!
Man, I love this channel and these two guys.
This reminds me of a lesser versión of Top Gear for motorcycles, Which I absolutely adore.
Definitely not lesser :-)
And unlike those failed actors,Zak and Ari knows what are talking about. And even better... knows their craft.
So if something is lesser, than it must be topgear in this case ;)
Vlado Petrovski prolly referring to the old top gear, rip
Vlado Petrovski If these three guys are something, "Failed actors" is definitely Not one.
Although, I See your point.
You adore witches? Well, I guess there's no point in arguing about taste. ;D
Just a thought: Hook up with Jamie from "MotoGeo" for a "On Two Wheels" collab.
Had fun again watching your adventure. Keep it up!
You guys just hit another one out of the park, great work!!!
Great combination :D reminds me of some friends of mine, one with a Dax and the other with a R1
Honda Dax is Cool ;)
Maaaan..when u guys are together,its epic
U guys should release new videos on daily basic....btw what was that white, fluffy thing u guys were eating at the end of the video..???
roasted marshmallows! Look up s'mores, they're an american 'delicacy'
The audio is always so good. You guys have really dialed in your mics and levels. Well done as always.
great job guys the videos seriously just keep getting better and better!
Great video! I'm going through police motor school right now. I can't stop thinking about how much fun you guys could have making episode of On Two Wheels about it
The definition of #OnTwoWheels
Great photography. And the Van Van looked like more fun to me.
Agreed..my favourite of 7 motorcycles
I've watched this a bunch of times now. Doesn't get old.
I too love finding bacon in the middle of the woods!
One wild hog and one machete...
I figured you boys would just share a tent..... yer pretty close.
Awesome video, thanks for the adventure 😁
Love this episode guys, keep them coming!
That Van Van has become my favorite looking motorcycle on the planet! I wish they could stick the dr650 engine in there and make it carburettor, kick start only without battery and slightly bigger tank... man I dream high...
I would have loved a Vanvan 500.
I think a van van 350 and a TW 350 would be the perfect size do it all trail bikes for Suzuki and Yamaha to build. The 200's are great but an extra 150cc's would be perfect along with a sixth gear.
You guys are a pleasure to watch, keep doing it. Keep up the adventure
Awesome video guys! Thats why some friends of mine do this 5-6 times a year. It's not usually too hard to grab a quick vacation day and get around 1000 miles of fantastic riding on a long weekend. And of course we have fire pits !
VanVan would be PERFECT with a 300cc single...
Umaxen 00 I was thinking 400 but yea 300 would be good too. Basically just enough to really get it to highway speeds without adding a ton of weight. It looks very fun for around town and off road.
Van-van was DEFINITELY the better choice. I probably would've gone with a CRF250L, the fancy one. By the way, did you guys remember to deflate your tires when you went offroad? That would make the Van-van into a BEAST on those roads. (and would also help out the pig) Ari could've at least had a 1 man tent. You guys have deadly spiders out there, probably poisonous snakes too. The tarp was not as genius of an idea as he thought.
Beautiful VanVan will go anywhere
The vids just keep getting better. Love it
Well done! Another great show, thanks.
I'm surprised machetes are still legal in California.
David Kellin I’m surprised breathing is still legal with all of the carbon emissions human lungs produce.
I always joke about how I could never live in California with all of their strict laws and regulations. And then I think, "But lane splitting!"...
Jake Fejer Florida is a pretty laid-back state, but kind of backwards when it comes to motorcycles. It's totally cool to ride around wearing nothing but board shorts and flip-flops, but God forbid you should filter through a stoplight.
Shhhh 🤫 they don’t need any more regulations. 🤪
Just don't hack of auto mirrors when it's too narrow to get between otherwise. That could have the potential to be suspicious.
Where do you even get these ideas....???
But then weed's legal in California..
Cheers ...😍😍
truestar1995 its not legal, it's what they call "regulated". There Is a huge difference.
The idea to ride somewhere isn't exactly hard to think of
I seriously lol'd when Zach pulled out the machete. Great video as usual fellas.
awesome episode! love the contrast of the multistrada and the ban ban and the way of the camp!!!
What machete is that?
Looks like a gerber gator
I'd rather have the VanVan.
1990
U'd rather have the Van van than what? I'd rather have the Van van than hemorrhoids. I'd rather have the van van than COPD. Id rather have a van van than a case of the clap. If your saying ud rather have a van van than a Multistrada, there's definitely something wrong with you.
I'd take the vanvan too haha
I would much rather be riding the VanVan for 90% of this video....
1990 I'd rather have a nice CL350, 360, or 450. Or if I want a modern bike a used KLR650 is superior in pretty much every way.
Kyle K
That's only because u weren't riding the Multistrada.
Hey guys, great video.....Really enjoyed the more candid part of this show....would like to see more non scripted moments....everyone goes down and glad to see no one was hurt...
Big Van Van fan! I have a bunch of "big bikes" (5) couple HDs, Yamaha Super Tenere, Suzuki BKing and KTM 300 XCW.... Longtime rider dirt and street and been daily So Cal street rider since late 80s. The "little guy" (#6) 2019 VanVan is absolutely a favorite! I love just unwinding and wasting the day putting on it in the local mountains both on & off road (though I admit I love the thing, I refuse to beat on it and just keep to Jeep trail stuff off road) Of course looks, such a great, funky, retro bike! GO, GO Van Van! 👍👍
$4800?!!! Looks more like $1800 to me.
suzuki is on crack their dirt bike line up is ancient and trying to sell it for 4800 is bs.
What they ask and what you pay is not the same. I have a 2017 Van Van 200 that I bought in 2017 new for $3900. I know some people will still scoff at that price but I really love riding it. I added a top case and commute on it. It hauls my 250lb ass around to 60-65 easily and scores 80mpg. Oil changes cost $10 and valve checks take 30 min.
forrysc
I hear ya on the valve checks. Other than that it's kinda dumb to give $4800, or $4000, or even $3000 for this, when u can easily buy a real motorcycle for a lot less...
Wvb 628
Not candle powered, but really cheap, old tech incandescent bulb. Just one more reason this bike ain't worth $4800, or $4000, or even $3000...
I'll take 2.5 Kymco Spades over this any day. I might even take 1 Spade over this.
That duc was always gonna be laid dowm
You guys allways offer an entertaining show. Yes,..agree, just get out and have fun. I'm currently installing Avon TrailRiders on my 06 FZ6..painted it camo colors and built a rack system to hold ammo cans.
Great one as always. We need more OnTwoWheels..
If you're going to go off road why not bring the DR200S? It costs the same as the VanVan but it's a dual sport. It would do much better on the trail.
Thats what I was thinking, I put a stage 3 dynojet setup in the carb and itll do 85-90 downhill full tuck. Uphill is another story in 5th gear cruising you pick up speed better than wot but thats just a needle adjustment that takes 20 mins after the fairings are back on
Grafight23 that bike makes the van van obsolete.
It's almost like Top Gear but with motorcycles. You guys should experiment with a 3rd co-presenter :)
One that's slow, responsible, a little dorky, and has glorious hair.
A third presenter, a cheap bike challenge, and a Harley of shame you have to ride if your bike stops working.
I can see it now.
If in ain't broke, don't fix it - Zack and Ari work brilliantly!
Shhhh! How can I get hired as a 3rd presenter with you making comments like that?
fred blue the fear of innovation and exploring something new usually results to the death of something. Take Nokia as an example. :)
Great vid. Easily my favorite motorcycle channel sub. Language always clean which I appreciate. I love seeing a bit of lairy riding sprinkled in your guys vids, and that knife, wow Zack haha!
Popping that little pulling-away wheelie 10:48 and getting sideways, so good!
Always good to see a bit of spirited riding rather than staid, sanitary stuff all of the time. Both you guys hit the nail on the head in that dept. It's the biker spirit to have a bit of that fun in the right settings.
Another great video. Thanks guys!
the moral of the story? get a DRZ400.
the Ducati is too big and expensive, the van van is too under powered and not very capable
I see the moral of the story as: get whatever you want! Even if the better-suited bikes are somewhere in the middle of these two, any bike can go anywhere.
Or maybe a Ducati Scrambler if you want the brand and a Van Van style machine but with some power, and a price in between these two :)
Duke 690 for me. My DRZ400 dropped a valve. :(
Or a Ducati Scrambler AND a VanVan.
Nick Headley I got the same moral and it's definitely the one I'd subscribe to. ✌
I hate how there are no real or unbiased reviews of the Van Van... all of them are manly men complaining about it not being a "real bike" and not taking it seriously enough to actually give a fair or inclusive review..
Just "It's a fun silly little joke bike lol look how crappy and silly it is!..."
No thanks. I actually want a Van Van, I'd like an actual review please. How does it ride? How does it handle? Is it a good commuter, or a city bike.. is it fast enough for short jumps on the highway? How are the ergonomics? Is loud? Or is it quiet enough for fun midnight rides without waking the neighborhood? Is it easy to learn on, or learn to work on? Fuel efficiency? Range per tank? Parts availability?
...
We get none of this, just jokes about how it's a fun baby bike for babies and if you buy one you're just as much a joke as it is... not cool. Not everyone needs or wants 1200cc or wants a 600lb beast of a bike to learn on. Some people just want to cruise around locally and enjoy riding a small bike.
It really sucks I can't find a single decent review of this bike, because I like it alot and really want one.
danteelite I have a vanvan 125, I’m a learner and I think it’s a brilliant bike
@@phoebemchugh388 Me too, I'm really looking forward to it. I'm getting the grey Van Van 200, probably an 18-19 to save money. No need to get the 2020.
There isn't much info available on it, but from what I've seen I've fallen in love with it. It seems like a fun bike, and more than enough for me to get around town.
Do you use yours for commuting? Have you taken it on any longer distance trips? Because I'm curious to know if it's comfortable to ride for longer periods of time, I have a few friends an hour or more away lol
danteelite yes I use it to get to work, handles great on country roads.
@@phoebemchugh388 it is a go anywhere dual sport
@@DanteYewToob agreed, the VanVan is a great bike
What a great video! Thanks, nice one guys!
Thoroughly enjoyed that video guys. It’s what adventure biking is all about. Subscribed.
