Seven years ago I was 300 lbs with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. Now I'm 195 lbs, 12% body fat, muscular as hell, and I got rid of diabetes and high pressure. I went on a whole plant based diet without oil. I've been training with Mike Mentzer's HIT system. This way of living is wonderful. Thank you for all your videos 🙂

Loved this Plantrant! My neighbor is on a Keto diet and just swears by it and tells me how "clean" she is eating. I went grocery shopping with her and her cart was filled with bacon, lunch meat, pork rinds (really???) meat and eggs. My cart was filled with fresh fruits and veggies legumes and whole grains and my grocery bill was a fraction of hers. I will continue to quietly eat my WFPB SOS foods and maintain an optimal weight with normal blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol without worrying about how much I eat. She thinks I'm crazy for being vegan and I just smile. Thanks for all you do! I just made your granola out of the new cookbook I received yesterday - YUMMY!

My friend (or should I say former friend because she started to make hurtful comments about my weight loss, so I let her go) does the same and she's morbidly obese and diabetic, she can barely walk in her early 50s. Her doctor is very good and pointed her in the direction of WFPB doctors, she even bought the books but it's hard to make the change. Her kitchen is full of pork rinds, etc., just a poor environment not conducive to health and success

@@luluandmeow I just want to comment, good on you for letting that fake friend go. I did the same, even though I'm in a new town and I didn't know anyone, she was basically the only friend I had. But better to be alone than in bad company! And also, it opens that space up, so that when I met my really wonderful, cool friend Carolyn, there was space in my life for her. Sending you strength, courage, and big hugs, from Tulsa. 💪⚔️🫂

My sister is also on Keto, she’s been trying to lose the same 30lbs over and over the last 2 years. I started WFPB just over a year ago and have lost all 70 excess pounds I was carrying. She can see from my success what really works but I’m still waiting for her to figure it out!

My husband has been low carb forever. He is 73 years old and is a picture of health. No build up in arteries at all, never on any medication, and very fit and lean. He does eat clean and never eats bacon, or eggs and limits his red meat He basically eats chicken and occasionally pork. Me, I tried low carb and everything went through the roof EXCEPT my blood pressure????!!!! I love veggies and beans and no matter how much they don't love me, I will stay with the whole food thing. My cholesterol dropped tremendously but that is all.

Good video, I would just add that what most people don't realize is that when you switch to a whole food plant based diet you won't want the foods you thought you could not give up. You will no longer like high fat meals and will look forward to your new way of eating. You just need to find a few good recipes and go-to's and you will be on your way to getting your health and life back.

Hot steaming pile of **it at 0:55! I was soooooo LOL! My 80 y o parents (who think my wfpb way of eating is odd) recently explained how at dr appt cholesterol med was changed to “help” increasing triglycerides. Metformon for T2D was increased. On the way home they stopped at Dunkin and had bagel sandwich with egg/cheese/bacon. I had no words. Nor does the doctor who, like most others, won’t address THE FOOD!!!!

Hi Dylan, I'm WFPB diet 4 years and I'm totally sold.
Having listened to enough Keto and Paleo vlogs, genuine ones...where folk have regained health..removed diabetes , arthritis, and high blood pressure etc
I have no reason to disbelieve their results. So I get confused with their results. For some ,results show low cholesterol.
    Most puzzling?
I agree maybe Paleo and Keto succeed because of the absence of all processed food.
    Such a good talk.
Thanks Dylan you so cut to the chase.

My brother did keto and was raving about. I asked him about his blood pressure and he said it was ok, he was taking blood pressure meds. Then I asked about cholesterol and that was under control cause he took statins also his diabetes was getting better but was still taking metformin. He did lose weight and was eating less processed foods. But the weight is back and he went off keto like every person I know that has been on it. I’ve done wfpb for six years, take no meds, lost weight and kept it off eating delicious food and don’t count calories.

This is very convincing, and I love the way you present information. The only thing that has prevented me from going completely plant based is the fact that you MUST supplement for B12 and D, two crucial vitamins for health. There is no way to get these vitamins only from plants. Yes, it is easy to supplement, but if humans were truly supposed to be completely plant based, then wouldn’t we have been created to get ALL we need from plants?

    • @WellYourWorld
      @WellYourWorld  Рік тому

B12 used to come from soil and D comes from the sun. Simple simple. By the way most people regardless of whether they are vegan or not end up low on B12 and lots on D too. So it’s not like it’s a plant based thing, come on now. This is why so many foods like cereals and milk are fortified even for the standard American eaters.

I first went raw vegan after seeing Freely and how she could eat as much as she wanted and still stay thin. Then I realized I loved cook food so I went vegan, but quickly found the junk food vegan items and did that for like 8yrs. Now I'm trying WFPB for a while and feel amaaaazing! Even if the entire day is garbage, one meal is frozen veggies, instant pot golden potatoes, beans, and some sauce. So dang easy. I love how I can eat as much as I want and not feel bad about it, because it's healthy, and I can't eat THAT much because it's also the McDougall 50/50 plate 😊 Filled with tons of non starchy veggies ❤ Currently down 23lbs since Jan (I started at 312lbs, that's why it came off fast). So much energy, happier, positive, completely different vibes. You're right, it's not just about weightloss.

Hi Ingrid. I did this for some time also. My husband wasn't a big vegetable eater, so I cooked him his meat & served what I was having a a side on his plate. It made things much easier. Once I couldn't stand the smell of meat cooking I told him he would have to cook the meat & he did. That meant I was only cooking my meal. It helped expose him to new flavours & styles of foods without forcing him to give up meat.
We both eat the same foods now & no meat enters our house unless guests bring it for themselves. Best of all, my husband made that choice for himself, so he owns his choice, it's not on me.

Salads go through me like poo through a goose along with many other veggies also give me intestinal discomfort. And the weirdest part is my blood pressure goes through the roof, and before you say anything, I do not and have not used sodium in years. Spent 3 months just reading about nutrition - reading from doctors that say to eat meat and docs that say the opposite. My conclusion thus far - eating vegan is safe on wfpb diet with b12 supplementation, probably the healthiest diet out there, and for new vegans to expect to eat way more than before and that's normal (because of caloric density) yet (if you do wfpb +sos free) expect to see pounds fly off. Oh, and Dr.gregor is imo the best place to start to measure the credibility of other books, studies, viewpoints, etc. You'll quickly spot the fallacies of other fad diets rather than be swayed by dumb stuff like i was - yeah, i was on the lectin free diet a while only to find it was based on rubish reasoning.

OMG, Dillon! This is a great video! I interviewed WFPB doctor Steven Lome (he was formerly a colleague of Dr. Kim Allen Williams) & one of our interviews was about the keto diet and what it will do to your body long-term. Well, do we get a lot of hate comments from that! I may just copy & paste the link for this video of yours in reply to those comments. 😀 Meanwhile, the comments below on this video are wonderful. I completely understand so many viewers who've written they don't know anyone who is WFPB, family members and friends dis them, and they'd like to know people where they live who are WFPB or want to be. I'm now the only healthy person in my family - and I was born in the 1950s! Well, late '50s, but you get my drift. Most people in my age group are on multiple meds.

Gosh I loved this video! I have so many friends who think they eat so healthily on their paleo, keto and high animal products diets. Most of them buy organic and somehow they think that makes meat (a carcass!l and dairy healthy.
I've given up on telling people what's a better option (I've been vegan for over 15 years, first only for the animals, then also for my health) but I love it when others are so outspoken. I'm guessing though that unfortunately you're mainly preaching to the choir. Anyway, keep it up!

If you're new to this way of eating, try this shopping list.
whole grains, and pseudograins, and whole grain semi-refined products like wheat flour, maseca, pastas.
legumes - cooked from dry the flavor is MUCH better, in my professional opinion;)
root vegetables, white, orange, purple, yellow...
    green, orange, and purple vegetables
fruits canned or fresh, or dried (remembering that avocado, tomatoes, peppers, and squashes are fruits)
some nuts and seeds, preferably raw and unsalted
    mushrooms, just a few

Dillion, Thank you!! for saying it like it is! I have been on most of these diets and you are correct I alway try and find a reason to stay on a meat diet or one to satisfy my issues and yes I did do Sos vegan for a while but got lost and felt deprived following Dr. Fuhrman and the over ate whem I tried Dr Mcdugall. I guess my problem is binging. Which I believe is from worrying about dieting my whole life. I want to get back on track and relieve myself of thinking about how to eat and just eat. I will be rewatching your videos and making the changes needed for my health.

Susan, I am so sorry to hear that. I don't know if you are familiar with Chef AJ but she talks a lot about once being addicted to sugar and fat (and food addictions in general), and binging issues. But on a wfpb diet she also likes to talk about how she eats an enormous amount of food. Like pounds of potatoes and broccoli in a day (as an example). If you can find some delicious recipes of this kind of food, you can binge all you want! And at some point, you may not want to anymore because everything feels better. I did a lot of baked russet potato fries in bbq sauce. A LOT. I lost 70 pounds in 2020, mainly broccoli and potatoes. Your taste actually changes, if you can tough it out. It's tough! But people have done it, and you can be one. :)

Hi, what do you think about Nutiva’s Coconut Manna in a jar , or the canned coconut milk from Costco?
That’s the only version of fat that I’ve been consuming lately that is processed.
But I haven’t learned what the real deal is about Coconut Manna.
At home I consume my fats through foods like natural peanut butters, seed butters, nuts & seeds, and avocados. Recently I’ve started eating coconut Manna, because I like the flavor. But it’s expensive, and having it around the house temps me to eat more than I think I should.
I’m not concerned with my weight given that I’m thin and I’m actually trying to “bulk” by doing a daily heavy weight lifting routine, and trying to increase my calories.
Other than the Manna, I eat just like how you teach, grains, beans/legumes, sweet potatoes, veggies, nuts, seeds, fruits, etc., and I stay away from processed foods like animals, dairy, moc-meats, vegan cheeses, oils and butters, sugars, and sweets,
My only vises are coffee, tea, salt, liquid erithritol drops as an artificial sweetener, and when I eat out occasionally in restaurants, I order whatever (never land animal meat), and not ask if it has oil or butter. On rare occasions I’ll order fish, seafood, clams, crab off the menu at a restaurant, but not because I crave it, it’s just because there aren’t many other options when eating out, but even then, I rarely order fish/seafood.
I’ve been watching your videos for a few months now, and have been enjoying them. Thanks:)

Guys I need some advice. I eat mostly plant based but eat occasional chicken and fish and sometimes cheese. However, my a1c is still a 6.0 and I literally cannot lose any more weight (I am a man and weigh only 150 lbs at around 5'7). I try to eat fewer carbs but if I do that I feel so hungry and cannot work out or even concentrate. Most people say I need to fill that space with lean meat but like I said I am mostly plant based except maybe 2x a week

I agree with MOST of what you said here. Keto, paleo, atkins, etc are unsustainable and unhealthy for the vast majority of people. However, for those who don't want to supplement I think incorporating super small amounts of animals foods is necessary. As you know you can't naturally get b12 from plant foods, and plant foods only have the ALA type of omega 3, which doesn't always convert to DHA and EPA in sufficient amounts. Just including a small 1 oz serving of caviar per day for example includes all the B12 and properly converted omega 3s you'd need, in addition to other valuable nutrients that could be lacking like selenium. It's also super low in calories and the portions are so small you wouldn't have to worry about any of the negative health outcomes associated with animal foods. I do think humans are omnivores we just lean heavily in the direction of plant foods.

(in case 'yall don't already know I eat the way Dillon eats, pretty much 100%) So...I got this $600 grocery benefit card from my health insurance. Only problems were, I couldn't use it online, and it expired in 10 days.....so.....how in the hell do you buy $600 of groceries, when all the food you eat is so cheap!?!? I stocked up on canned tomatoes, legumes, whole grains and whole grain products, seeds, canned fruit and other canned goodies....it BARELY fit in the car.... About 500 pounds of food (most of it dry like rice, beans, and pasta) ...so yeah....NOT an expensive way to eat!

This may be a dumb question. But I am reading the starch solution and haven’t seen yet where he explains exactly how you lose weight eating this way? I know it’s healthy, but if I have excess fat, and I eat majority carbs, my body would just burn the carbs and never the excess fat, right? In theory of course. I know this diet helps you lose weight I guess I’m just curious on the “how” it burns through fat on the body. Thanks!!
