Anyone who has the desire and the ability to serve in the United States military should have the right to do so. Whether they are a man, woman, gay, straight, bisexual, or transgender. We sometimes forget that our differences help make us great, but only when we are able to respect and appreciate that which makes us different.
As long as we can work together with mutual respect, we can continue to defend this great nation and repel our enemies with the same ferociousness that we've always exemplified in battle.
While there are thousands of trans genders serving in the US military, there are very few who have garnered the attention that SSgt. Brunswick has, mostly due to her previous service in the infantry, prior to making the change and becoming the woman she always knew she was. 60 Mikes has the exclusive documentary.

This is a very interesting channel. On the surface, it seems like a company that should attract heat from the left, but as a socialist, civilian, and LGBTQ rights activist, I still think anyone who watches for long enough can appreciate that VetTV is writing in good faith. I don’t think this is an attack on trans existence. There is humor to be found in the trans experience within the military without delegitimizing gender identity, and although it’s a razor thin line, I think the writers did well. Ultimately this channel is not for me, but I think it’s doing something very important and is ultimately not in conflict with my liberal sensibilities. They are starting important conversations, encouraging introspection, critiquing problematic elements of our institutions, and cultivating support and community for an isolated and disenfranchised group.
Most of us in the military , are absolutely fine with trans people, it's in good humor. I'm currently dating a trans woman.
Our military is one of the only to have such an accepting culture, and i'm proud of that.
We all embrace the suck.

I remember the first time transgender was a topic the military started talking about while I was in. I was part of the maintenance team. Last of the 91H series. Our company commander came out and called for a gaggle. She said “we’re gonna be talking about transgenders today.” The wheel mechanic SGT says “Ma’am, I think you mean to say transmissions.” We all busted out laughing. Even our commander 😂.

That said on a side-note the single toughest female I have ever met was a marine f-18 pilot. SERE Brunswick Maine. She was our senior officer. She was beaten repeatedly every single time the whole group were mustard together. She was all of 5/6 and 90 lbs. Fierce redhead.
This was Brunswick Maine January 3rd through the 17th. Needless to say we also got our CWEST cert.
65 of us went in, 14 of us finished.
She was one of the 14. Mad respect for that little Marine.

So... I was watching VICE and I came across one of their videos they did about VET TV, the first thing I noticed was that the comments section was disabled and in like the first minute of the video some lady said something along the lines of VET TV being dark humor and not for everyone and that if you are a civilian it is definetely not for you... so my civilian ass quickly stopped watching that video and came here, and so far, I have not been disappointed, this shit is hilarious, I have friends who are in the military and some of the guys I work with are vets and they always talk about the military and crack jokes about it all the time, so watching this shit is funny as hell to me, I know what I'm going to binge watch during the next few days lol.
