- We decided that if we’re gonna have a female character, she’s gotta be respected by the grunts.
How do you earn respect in the grunts?
You’re GOOD AT YOUR F*CKIN JOB
You’re good at WARFIGHTING - shooting, tactics, orders process
You are physically strong, you can carry massive weight on your back, and have endurance.
You can FIGHT.
You are hyper-aggressive, sociopathic, bloodthirsty, and DOMINANT in all that you do.
No grunt will respect you because you’re pretty, have empathy, are nurturing, and all the other things we love about women, and need from them.
In fact, the way Hollywood portrays female badasses annoys the shit outta me.
They make it seem like being “sexy” makes you strong and powerful. No it doesn’t. It makes you a sexual object that these primitive grunt’s want to plow with overwhelming force.
Grunts are not woke, self actualized, or mature men. They are immature, primitive, horny, rabid, sociopathic fucking dogs who want to fuck or kill, and their monkey brains will experience a similar chemical release with either action.
Wake up people, these are the psychos we send to fight our wars. These are not the beautiful boys in dress blues twirling rifles in the commercials. Sorry to break it to you.
So, when we wrote Corporal Sharleen Yates, we wrote a MARINE that grunts could respect without regard for how a “woman” should be written.
We treated the character like a MARINE, which means there should be no regard for gender nor color. Then we casted an amazing actress, Sawyer Fuller, who brought the character to life in an incredible way.
Her only flaw is that she was a bit more beautiful than I was hoping for, but her savage performance made up for it. :)
The end result is one of the most entertaining characters in VET Tv history.

We had a 7 foot amazon in my company at Hood, anyone that can carry two reels of dual coax (45k/99lbs) is a badass. Arms were bigger than my thighs, I could never explain the thirst we all had.

At 6:22, no matter than branch, there's a month long course at whatever school higher NCOs go through that teaches them to get their knickers in a twist over stupid clothing stuff. There's gotta be, because almost ALL Sergeants Major I ever saw were exactly like this. I only knew one that didn't stress over that kind of thing, as long as his people did what was important (and of course, he was getting ready to retire; they should have cloned that man!)
Haha. It’s called WLC, Warriors Leadership Course. Besides teaching you that sleep is a vice unfit for soldiers, you do learn to really get your uniform right.
Only one I had like that was a first sergeant who was dying of cancer.
We had a close second who was a first sergeant (pog) that came to us from the drill field. When he showed up he was all up in our shit about grooming and uniform standards, but as he spent more time with us he loosened up quite a bit. It's almost like the pog wore off and just a tiny bit of grunt took it's place.
The old ANCOC (SLC) gave the frontal lobotomy, the 1SG time on a support BN as a grunt completes the removal of all brain matter, then the SGM Academy fills the void with shit and the only words which can be formed are “Off my grass”, “head gear”, and “update my tracker”. Monty Python did it best, “Sergeant’s Major! How are the men today?” “Fine sire”… “well, fuck ‘em around a bit”.
They probably have brain scans of top people they will eventually figure out how to put their mind in another person or a machine, imagine having patton and mcarthur and Eisenhower show up ready to fight😂😂

this skit kills me(wink wink). in the beginning I thought is was two dogs fighting. HERE is the reason if gave me a flashback. Back in the Ganni 04, Ghanzi area. we took in a stray dog. never tied her up, went on missions, road with as slept in our hootch. we would let her out to do her business an she would stay in the area. But she started to bleed an was in heat. the local mutts came around sniffing but our little force of snowballs kept them at bay. well one day she left the wire with out us doing HER thing.
A few hours went by an we could not locate her. Low an behold the sniper group with us for the base was given orders to take out all stray dogs outside the wire. the only kill that day was our dog.(not laughing inside right now) the snipers came over to apologize an felt really bad. for the next week or so about 8 to 10 male dogs would be hallowing looking for her!!
