Hi Gilbert, these next 2 months are when you go all in your UA-cam channel. This is your chance to become a full-time UA-camr & you'll never have to go back to work for good. I know you can do it. I wanna see you win. Much love Gil & wish you the best
He doesn't have enough interesting content or ideas to be a full time UA-camr. I enjoyed some of the 80s/90s videos (which is how I found the channel) and although some held my interest at the start, they became very samey after a while. Unfortunately the 'day to day' vlogs are uninteresting to someone like me, so I no longer watch them. It's basically a guy walking around his house, filming himself and talking about mundane topics... Or him going to various stores and watching his wife and kids spend all his money! If you like that sort of thing, great. But it's not for me and you can't expect him to go full time unless he is able to appeal to more people.
Congratulations on leaving the 9-5. You have an amazing opportunity with this UA-cam channel as you already have millions of views. You just need to find a way to maximize the channel. Seek out people who have done it already and just do what they did. Once you maximize the channel, you’ll probably kick yourself for not doing it sooner. Good luck!
Been watching your channel for years. You have been such a treasure, a connection to my past. I hope you take this as an opportunity to move forward. God bless you man.
You have a great home, great family, jobs come and go. My dad got layed off months ago and found something recently that he ended up enjoying much more. So there's always an upside to down times.
Losing your job can feel like a major setback, but it's also an opportunity for growth and self-discovery. Take this time to reconnect with yourself and explore new possibilities. Reflect on your strengths, passions, and values. It's a good way to take a different perspective on your life. Speaking from experience, I've had a varied career spanning three decades, filled with ups and downs.
I have learned to realize to treasure life the way he does.. and no shame in it. His approach is very straightforward and easy to follow. Relatable and brings people together. I've learned not take shame in such an approach.@@DeeOne88
I feel ya. I have a YT channel, but I'll never be a youtuber. I quit a 28/hr job late Oct 2023 to move back to my Iowa hometown. Currently working at 18/hr. The paycut was well worth it!
Hey Gilbert....you're like your cat, you always land on your feet! I've been watching your videos, that's how I know you'll do okay! You're one of the most resourceful people I know! I like your videos because they show real life, not all that social media crap!
you truely are smart to just let the Lord to guide you. you "remembered the Lord in the days of your youth" and now it's paying off. your mom put that in your birthday card, in old video, very smart.
I have been living frugally for the past 11 years, only buying things that I need and purchasing used items. I own everything and have no recurring payments. These days, job security is not guaranteed, and anyone can lose their job. If I were to lose my job, I could live for 7 years without earning a penny. I plan to continue living frugally because I am always afraid that I may lose my job one day. I am still young and know that I could find a job quite easily now, but as everyone gets older, it becomes harder to find jobs. The scariest thing that could happen to me would be losing my job. I hope you can find a job soon and not have to worry about your bills.
Goodspeed Gilbert!I too have appreciated and enjoyed your channel like many have. Many have stated to do this UA-cam thing fulltime, I’d say go for it. We will all watch!
Take advantage of unemployment (EDD)! That is money you worked for and you’re 100% entitled to it. I was laid from my previous employer in the summer of 2022 and was blessed to able to find a new position within two months. You’ll find something quick Gil. It could be something you love. But definitely look into building your channel! You’ve got something good on here and can make a living off. God bless
I never worked in a 9-5 job, started my private tutoring after college graduation from this year and I am happy with it :) i tutor my neighbour's grandson.Guess what my new student lives in the same apartment as I,he's on 3rd floor while I on the 5th floor. Though this is not the first time i am home tutoring, had previously tutored another neighbour's grandchild (all grandchildren coming my way 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂).
There’s lots of lay offs going on in our company too, this month they laid off almost 25 people, our manager told us there was going to be more, I’m in Carlsbad CA btw (near San Diego)
I wish you good luck and success. Me personally I'd start looking for a new job after a month or so instead of two. Unless the spouse's income covers every single expense. Hate the idea of drawing from savings to to pay for expenses, at this point in my life I consider savings part of my future retirement
Yo Gilbert as a man who's just a few years younger & been unemployed for over 6 months there's age discrimination. everyone says there hiring bu there not in reality there looking for younger people. Don't wait too long in looking & don't sell your cars you'll never know when one goes out its good to have back up. Keep trucking brother
I'm so sorry dear great Gil! I'm happy you got the extension, indeed good time for planning ahead. I hope you relax in these 2 months and to focus on the channel more. This is a blessing in disguise, on to bigger and better things, as you deserve it!!
Greetings Gilbert! Today is a new beginning. Wishing you nothing but the very best going forward. Your positive attitude and great work ethic will get you far. Take care buddy. 💪 🚀 ⭐️
Hi Gilbert, take some time off, reset and def collect the unemployment on top of what you're getting paid for the 2 months. Don't leave that money on the table. You will also see that another door/opportunity will open up when you least expect it!
Play video games or get in a new hobby. I worked hardcore job for 5 years and had to go on disability. Hardest part isn’t the money as family always helps out because they don’t want you to loose the home. I got diagnosed with Parkinson’s and now met my gf who also has Parkinson’s. I’m 34 she’s in her 60’s. God has a plan ❤ my body’s getting old yet my mind is young. I’ll be watching Gil! God bless! ❤
I got laid off back in January. Found a job fast. I have been with the company for 7 years. Went in on the 17th and handed in my final checks. I found a job really fast.

I know you will do good,I remember when you first got that job,at least your wife makes good money, here in my part of Georgia any vehicles 25 years or older don't have to have emissions, but the next door county next to me does not have to get emissions at all.
You shouldn't be waiting until the severance package runs out. You need to start looking for another job because you never know when you'll find one. It could take months until you secure a position.
I should visit you while you're off in the next 2 months. Since you're wanting to try something with work related, maybe you should work at Harbor Freight, Autozone, orielys, or any tool shop with car related since you have decades of experience.
I got let go last May 2023. Haven't found another job since then. This economy is way worse than what CNN says it is, that's why I don't watch cable news anymore. I wouldn't take any time off and would stay focused on having a job, wife's hate taking care of the husband. Especially if they want to see them as a provider. I would say get motivated and get back out there! Have a great day!
Ditto!! I swear, the last time I was slow on work, my wife damn near left me and then filled out an application for the job I still have 11 years later (she's still around) haha
