Gil, I'm a little older than you. I think it's true your body does break down as you age just like a car does. My father just past away Saturday (8/10/2024) at 91. He was born in 1933. He wanted to live to 100, but in his late 80's his health took a bad turn and he needed help just getting dressed. He passed away in an Assisted Living Facility and it was sad watching him slowly die last Saturday. He had the "death rattle" (a cough with a rattle) going on which is a sign you are about to die. He faded in and out of reality and was in a lot of pain. The Hospice workers administered morphine to help with the pain. I believe he died in his sleep from all the pain meds that made him drowsy. I'll never forget his last hours on earth when he saw me enter his room and he called out my name. I remember he had his arms out to hug me and I hugged him back, but he didn't want to let go. I saw the fear of dying in his eyes. It was a terrible way to see your father. It's over now. Just got back from the funeral and I did the eulogy. It went well, but I will miss him. My advice to anybody reading this is to live each and every day to the fullest bc you never know when it will be your last.
Love your videos Gil, appreciate your video documentation of the great 1980's. You're a little older than me, but your 80's high school years still brings back great memories of my 80's elementary school years! I am wishing you a Happy 54th birthday, and many more! 🫡
at 35 I feel good. Even though I should have done this 18 years prior, I enlisted in the US Air Force and graduated basic training. To my surprise, I didn't get injured during physical training compared to some of my younger counterparts. I toughed it out! Yes I'm not what a typical 35 year old should be at, married with children, making a steady, 6 figure income with a house nearly 60% paid off. But everyone's path is different and trying to be in line with other people's path or even compare yours to theirs will only bring greater even more personal problems.
My girlfriend’s 19 year old daughter is noticing the distinction between her youthful years and young adulthood for the first time…and she’s not happy about it. Everything was always taken care of for her when she was growing up. Her mom made her get a summer job (with my prompting) this past summer when her first year of college ended. She did not like it at all lol. She was a hostess at a restaurant. Just yesterday, she said about how she does not like “getting old” and that it’s “no fun”. I told her that’s it’s normal to feel that way when a person first notices the distinction between being a kid and becoming a young adult. Being an adult comes with responsibilities we never had to deal with before. Would I go back to being a kid again? Most definitely!
I love ya Gil! Awesome vid. I'm also a lawn care nut and I appreciate you making sure your grass is always trimmed and flower beds free of weeds. You're a good man, and you'll be back on your feet in no time. I just turned 50, we're the same generation, grew up the same way.
Im 52 myself Gil. we grew up in the same era and almost the same areas. Im from orange county. I feel the same way you are now. mentally im wiser, physcally i wish i was better but i try to manage. Im married and have two kids like yourself.
Last year I had my 40th HS reunion. I didn't go, but this year I got on FB and reunited with only the people I wanted to see. That was last month, Had a blast. I only WISH I was 54 again, lol! I can tell you exactly what that was like... it was awesome! At 60, I suddenly had a LOT more aging issues. Leg muscles are not recovering from biking. I was super-good at 59, canNOT get it together at 60. Hair thinning a lot this year. More wrinkles. Other issues too. But I started working out again after 20 years and muscle goes on very easily. Keep up the great work, Gil! You're going down in the history books. Or history chips, lol!
Hey Gil I just watched a video of yours from 4 years ago and I knew exactly what city it was in. I’m 48 but I grew up in Covina too. I lived across the street from Gladstone Highschool. We’ve probably crossed paths. I was in a band called Substance A. So nostalgic watching your vids. I’m in PA now, but wow, feels like I went back in time! Hope all is well!
Wow Gil. Summer of 1989, I turned 17yrs old in the NY area. I played soccer in high school and was trying to get a college scholarship. But that summer we all pretty much just had part time jobs and then got together at night at the local area park to drink beer! Lol. Great times.
When I got married I was 24 or 25,I got divorced in 2018 and feel like people see me as an old man at 57 years old,it is like I was frozen for all of those years,I will be 58 in October,my younger sister turned 54 in June,so me and 2 sisters are in our 50's,my younger brother who is in the military is 39,he will be 40 in November.
I can tell you how it feels to be 64 years old soon to be 65 early next year, I will admit as you get older comes with lots of health issues loss sight in one eye, lots of pains from head to toes, joint back legs shoulder pains never ends, all I can say is try your best not to get any older or you will feel the age really setting in.
You only feel old and achy because you believe you're supposed to be feeling run down. Many people around the world stay fit and strong well past your age because they expect themselves to. They don't make excuses.
🇺🇸Hey, Gil, I'm with Jenny. The 'Cali Bikini Car Wash' is a million$ idea. You might want to get a business plan together, for the Bikini Car Wash, before unemployment runs out. GODBless

Telling you. And it's a lot of work to keep it trimmed. But grass is easy to keep green once it's green.
@@fueledbymusic3 Oh.. I know, I spend 3-4 hours a week on my lawn and yard.. Good job! Still praying for you!

In these Woke times Gil would be crucified as a misogynist. He'd need a Time Machine for that to work.
