Nintendo after watching this video: "Damn, he got us. Move the date!" Thanks, Andres! 🙏
Tea Tables went flying all over Kyoto.
Sad part is people actual do think like that haha
Pull yourself together
I hope we'll all get one on launch day, I have a feeling it's going to be harder this time around.
I hope so too
I disagree, even if it doesn’t release until April, it will likely have been in production since September of 2024, giving six months of surplus at least. There’s no way Nintendo isn’t going to account for scalpers, because it could be a bit of a death knell for the system if it’s tough to find
I'm going to probably preorder it for my birthday but I don't know if my birthday money will cut it :/
Im not getting it launch day. I don’t want to be one of those people in the switch 2 painful launch compilation.
I think there is going to be a lot more stock than most system launches, but scalpers are just too prominent for there not to be any stock issues, unfortunately.
$300 being $388 nowadays is insane
@@connor9568
With tax it is what it is
#AuditTheFed
@@CamNielsenThere’s nothing to audit - they do it in the open. The Fed exists to protect the status quo and make sure the country club crowd doesn’t lose all their money again. They print money and give it to rich people when times are bad, then they balance things out when times are good by raising interest rates on the poor. Heads the rich win, tails the poor lose.
They gonna keep raising the prices of games too😭
It's even worse, because wages have stagnated. There are jobs literally paying the same wage they were paying in 2017 (hello McDonalds).
May 15 is my birthday so it would be awesome to have the switch 2 release the same day.
May 14 here :D
Mine is the 15th too 🎉🎉
@@M4Rs-ho8yj same!
Mine too! 🎉
Mines on the 4th, so I got star wars day instead
Haha , love the Capitalisation on 'May' in the title 😄
Honestly impressed with the depth of your comparison to Switch 1’s timing. You might be cooking a little too hard with the calculations, but getting Doom the Dark Ages and Metroid Prime 4 on the same day would be insane.
It's good fun though! 🤓
Having the hands on tour in may/June and then waiting until September/November to release the console would be psychotic even for Nintendo lol
The hands on events actually start in the first week of April and run through May I believe. So my guess is early to mid June, as they wouldn't be doing hands-on experiences after the console is available for sale. Hope May 15th is correct! That would be sick! 😁
It’s a good theory that it releases in that window. It’s also right before summer for schools and colleges which they might think is a good time to get people to want to game. The die hards can focus a lot of time on it and the summer people can get around to it in the fall or winter.
@@Ray-dl5mp Getting ready to clap cheeks in the summer with my switch 2 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for showing that inflation calculation. I hate it as much as the next person, but so many people don't realise how crazy it's been in the last few years. There's no way it will sell for under $400. I'd love for the switch 2 to release before June, but i wouldn't get my hopes up. I'd love to be wrong, though.
It has made no sense to me that people predicted Switch 2 would be released more than two months after they started having hands-on "experiences."
Great video! I need to start saving up! I don’t care how much it’s gonna cost, I’m still gonna buy it day one.
Hey friend, I’ll be waiting a year minimum lol. I never buy consoles at launch. But I’m excited for Switch 2
@ I’m hoping that my husband and I can afford it. We are gonna sell one of our Switch 1 OLEDs and just buy one that we can play and share.
same im saving now.
It’s a great console for girls and kids
Best scenario, imo:
300$ 128gb, no dock.
400$ 256gb
500$ 512gb oled.
Options for everyone.
Oled model for me, please ✋✋💸💸
It’s Nintendo, so it’s not gonna happen
@@marverickbin no way switch 2 copying steam deck's purchase option
A no dock option makes a lot of sense considering there are a lot of people who only use the Switch in handheld mode like me, but I just don't see Nintendo doing it. You can always sell the dock on eBay though if you really don't need it. So, it's not that big of a deal.
@jyllianrainbow7371 theymade already the switch lite. So wee gonna get a switch lite 2
I didn't think anything about Doom releasing on Thursday, That is a great point. Coincidence, I think not!!
Don’t care what the price is I’m still going to buy a Switch 2. Got to get one as soon as it’s released.
I just sold my kidney and can't wait to buy this shit.
I think console reveal in january and full presentation in april is just crazy! 😬
400 is actually cheap compared to consles nowadays
I disagree on the price for a couple of reasons. I have looked at the components of the Switch 2 as rumored and I get around a production price of 300 dollars. Selling it for 350 isn't that bad, since some parts are cheap for the fact they are already outdated. Look at the 64 GB storage for example. Nintendo tries to make it as cheap as possible. The components will also become way cheaper over time, which brings the production cost to maybe 200 dollars. The processor is the one that defines the Switch value. Another thing people seem to easily forget is the fact that Nintendo wants to be a family system. They will lower the costs as much as possible, especially in the beginning. The fact that the PS5 costs 450 dollars, tells that Nintendo will be having a much lower price. They would rather not compete with the PlayStation or Xbox. They are forced to sell their consoles at a range of 350 to 400 dollars. Another thing I like to add is that there is a rumor that says the switch 2 will have a 1080p screen. First of all, it makes no sense, since on such a small screen, 720p and 1080p have the same sharpness. Even Valve steam deck has 800p max. Thinking the Nintendo 1080p is crazy since it would mean the console cost will skyrocket, and it is a completely unnecessary overkill. I say the console will be between the 350 and 400 dollars. The software is where the money is at.
Honestly a mid or late May release would be awesome!
As someone who follows along with Eurovision that is and will keep me occupied up until the finale on May 17th. So then NOT having to go a bit stirr crazy while wait a month would be just perfect. xD
Well put together, Andres!
A lot of very good points!
Something to note about the South Korean date is that South Korea is a newer branch of Nintendo and they don't always benefit from a worlwide release schedule. So the theory that the switch could release around mid or late May sounds quite plausible
At worst, if you consider South Korea as the last experience before release, it would be for June 5 at the latest
If that date is right you really need to do a stream where you take a bow, because that is impressive and unlike these random dates people throw out there this actually has thought in it
As much as I'd love a release sometime in May, I'm still personally expecting one month later in June. Fingers crossed it comes earlier though!
Nintendo moving a date for Doom would make no sense. Microsoft moving Doom to Thursday for Nintendo makes a great deal of sense. I think you may be onto something
$399 I would be happy with. May the 3rd same as GameCube in the UK.
$399 in 2025 would be basically the same price as $299 was in 2017, when inflation is taken into account. 😅😅😅 So yeah, I guess I'd take it. But I'm not gonna afford the console at launch anyway.
very interesting speculation, especially because it's backed by past trends and one major game release date. Also I hadn't noticed the May gap of the hands-on sessions 😲Hopefully you're right !
Why would they launch the switch 2 before the in person events finished? It's probably a placeholder date.
If I can add my stone on the top of this.
May 15th is the ONLY thursday of may that isn't a public holyday in France (and most of European countries).
May 1st = thursday = labor day in France
May 8th = thursday = WW2 end day
May 15th = thursday = nothing
May 29th = thursday = Ascension day
Je valide la théorie
Keep telling us what we wanna hear Andres, we are eating it up! 😆👏🏼
I’m so excited I can’t wait to lay my hands on this console and FINALLY get the ports I’ve been waiting for YEARS ❤ I hope TP and WW will be released very soon. I would also love to see Baldur’s Gate 3 coming as well😢 as Mario Galaxy 2… Fantasy Life is definitely going to be added in my cart and probably professor Layton too… By the way, do you think the next Elder Scrolls game could possibly come to the Nintendo Switch 2 once it’s ready to launch ?
Something to consider about the price however, Wii U released at 300 and 350 dollars. The deluxe edition at 350 would arguably be the "real"/"base" model most people remember. Despite that, the Switch released at 300 dollars and if you calculate for inflation between 2012 and 2017, you get a similar situation as the one in the video, 300 dollars became even more than 400. Yet the price didn't change/was even lower.
Truth is, inflation isn't as simple as those conversions make it seem to be, but the bigger point is that it's very possible for the switch to release at 350. Though I do think 400 is more likely.
This is true. Back then we still had easy pickings technologically. A decade ago, getting significant improvements year over year was expected, but now that we're in diminishing returns the performance/$ isn't going to improve as much, leaving the $ inflation to dominate. Same argument for manufacuring, not just performance.
$375
6:05 There is no way Nintendo is packing in Mario Kart on launch. That title will print money if MK8 is anything to go by. We’ll be lucky to get a pack-in at all, tbh.
I really hope that the console will release in the summer as this will be perfect timing for me
They could almost certainly sell Switch 2 hardware at $350 & still make profit off each unit sold, but they didn't lower the price on Switch 1 for a reason.
They want to be able to pitch the Switch 2 as a new, more premium & powerful Switch. So if the Switch OLED "only" costs $350, then OBVIOUSLY the Switch 2 should cost more, right?
So yeah, Switch 2 will definitely cost $400+ even if it's not necessary to make a profit on each unit.
Actual math and logic instead of just saying things. Great video
man i am so exited for the switch 2 release because that means these dumb rumor/leak channels (like andresrestart)are going to die
The switch 2 experience is being held in multiple cities around the world. The last one being June 1st so don’t expect the release date before this. Likely soon afterwards in early summer. I’m guessing $399.
If all the launch games turn out as big as we are all thinking, I'm just gonna be broke for 2025. 😅
Some good detective work. I’ve added 15 May 2025 in my calendar.
Dude, actually imagine if Metroid Prime 4 and Doom The Dark Ages released the same day...
Andre I'm curious, do you script your videos or just do topics and riff from that?
The title is worng, i agree with this prediction. I've honestly been expecting the console the release in may this whole time. It just makes the most sense.
I was already thinking of May 22nd for similar reasons, so May 15th isn't a massive leap. That that Doom release date is a very interesting factor, so I think I might have been persuaded
It doesn’t make sense that the Switch 2 automatically must retail at a higher price point than the original Switch. When Switch was first designed and produced, the X1 chip was state of the art. Not as much when it was released to the market. Same kind of scenario with Switch 2. That would lend to the idea that Switch 2 should have a similar pricing scheme.
I would personally predict a $100 across the board price cut for all Switch 1 models. Switch 2 at $350, max $400.
I know Switch hasn’t outsold the DS yet, but it’s already Nintendo’s most successful console. It has produced more profit for Nintendo, than every single console and handheld, COMBINED. It has the largest gaming library in history. It will absolutely surpass DS and PS2 sales as well.
I Hope Its Like you say.but i think between 400 and 450 Euros ..and late June early juli .
Doom the Dark Ages is releasing May 15th Thursday for the premium edition, early access edition the base game releases may 19th according to retailers
This makes alot of sense for many reasons
I just hope i can get one, day one.
I just sold my kidney and can't wait to buy this shit.
Alright dude, I want to believe this, so much! I like your research too. Keep it up man!
Now I'm hungry for ravioli
Idk, makes sense to me, I'm with you man.. you found out more than I could
Matching inflation doesn’t really lead to the same success because people’s spending power has not kept up with it. If they want it to sell like the Switch they need to get the price as low as they can while at least breaking even on cost.
Good video. I think it's a plausible idea. RogersBase thinks it's releasing Memorial Day weekend(May 23). I don't think they would release during a holiday weekend. I said maybe the week before. Which is the exact day/week you mentioned
We're reaching 50K subs sooner than you think as well. By the end of 2025? No, I think much sooner.
Since the reveal trailer I’ve been thinking mid-late may for us/japan/europe, June and beyond for other countries. I’m with you on the 15th.
May 22nd take it to the bank. But I hope you’re correct about the 15th. June 5th will be the latest.
Please don't make me cope for May
I'm guessing $400. I would be fine with that as long as switch 2 is more powerful than switch 1. But I'm still getting one 😊. May 9 I have heard that date on the internet for the release. I hope so. It was a retailer that had may 9 as the date. I guess we will see
there is no way they are keeping the console at 349.99 no way...not unless they are not doing anything to the hardware which would be a massive problem...if they are upgrading the cpu and gpu there is no way they can sell it at that price point...i mean look at all the other handhelds...they are astronomically priced...i understand that the switch has Nintendo behind it but still man...i don't think this will be below 400 bucks
Dude you are reaching a lil bit too much
I think you cracked it 👍
Don't forget the Trump tariffs. If a 25% tariff is applied to all imports, add 25% tax for Uncle Sam.
Why not release 3 switches 1 hybrid high price, 1 handheld lower price and 1 heavy [TV mode only] for a lower price also
Income taxes sounds like a great time to get a switch2
My question is, what other Third Party games are slated for May 15th that we know of?
May 9th seems more likely. Plus that date has shown up in two systems now.
$400 is the absolute minimum and I dont see it being that cheap I see it being $450 to $500 for Switch 2
Cheap, out-of-date parts on release. No OLED screen. They aren’t going to upcharge the Steam Deck. $399.99 is the price. No more. Nintendo makes more and more profit on these things as time goes by.
$500 you are smoking my dude. $450 is even stretching it. This is nintendo, not sony or Microsoft. Nintendo was never about the most expensive and top tier parts or performance. They always made their console more affordable than the rest to appeal to masses and budget gamer or casual gamer, not to mention families and such. $400.00 for sure.
That’s USD too 😰 imagine CAD
@@TheInfiniteNineyeah, and all these UA-camrs keep talking about inflation. But it doesn’t even work that way. A 50 dollar game in the GameCube era would be like 90 dollars with inflation XD. But games are $70. Supply and demand. They can’t charge if people won’t buy. They play it more careful than matching inflation.
UA-camrs always forget the OLED screen too. Physical price hike on the 350 model. And also forget that Nintendo is probably making very good money on the two switch models in this current year lol
They not selling it 500 they trying to sell 20m unit within the 1st year and its Nintendo they always consumer friendly
I think Nintendo likes money and should release it as soon as possible!!! Being so many people are wanting one they really don't have to try to sell it!!!
Imagine Doom as a launch title and Metroid Prime 4!
But the last hands on Event is on 7 june in tokyo
Im still saying $379.99 USD for the Switch 2. I don't think they want another 3DS situation.
You’re tripping man, switch 2 will last for at least 6-7 years. They need an inflation-proof price for the coming years.
@greyowl3787 That's what upgraded models are for
350.99 is reasonable as they want family to buy more Switch 2. Core gamers will buy Day-One at price but like you said will drop in price to insure they can get more coming to Switch 2 users for "General" users. If it cost too much buyers will wait til they can afford the price.
LMAO. Families blow thousands of dollars on stupid shit all the time. They can afford $400 for a switch that will last a decade.
I just need to know what Zelda game will be released with the switch 2
Lol dude, they couldn’t announce it 85 days before April 2 because there was new year’s holiday and CES.
You guys are ridiculous, looking for signs to celebrate about in everything. 😂
But wut about the TBD Asia events in June and beyond? That means release won't b til after summer sneak peak events.. my guess in early fall
June 10th, 2025… 24 years after the GBA.
Team May 2025 keeps getting stronger!
I dont think so, this is a bit pointless because we already know their is a nintendo direct coming April 2 , switch is what everyone shkuld be focusing on untol its ready to make a transition into switch 2.
If a stoner at nintendo prices it it's gunne be $420
yes, it could be, and the dooms games on switch sold very well
clever video. Good job
Amazing theory!
$400 dollars is way over priced if this is the price ile wait for it to drop and stick with my switch and allow a good catalogue of games to be released for the switch 2. Be a better price also more games to choose from over time. Never know there maybe another version of the switch 2 will be released later as the have done with the switch.
I can see it within the 400-450 $ price range.
I suspect the 26th June which is a Thursday or maybe sometime in July!! I don't want it in May, I want it to be late June/mid July!!
I got MASSIVE plans for Switch 2 launch day!! In the past I've always had my consoles ordered online but I'm changing things and picking up my Switch 2 in a GAME store on release, ordering myself a large massive meat feast PIZZA then a massive Chinese Takeaway, I should also be expecting to get Zelda Wind Waker for an July release for Switch 1 and Twilight Princess HD also for Switch 1 for November if Mario Kart 9/Ultimate ends up being a launch title (I also expect to have EVERY single track ever made/remastered INCLUDING Wario Colosseum finally added, I want to choose what NPC's we can race against instead of having randomly generated clones or annoying ass Koopalings taking spots like how we can finally choose what items to disable, I want the double Karts to return, old battle courses as well, alsk Captain Falcon, Fox McCloud, Samus, Pikachu, Kirby, King K Rool added maybe even have Sonic and Pac-Man be guest DLC characters too), I want Nintendo 2025 to SURPASS Nintendo 2017!! Mario's 40th anniversary is happening, I want a Mario 2D All-Stars (with Mario Bros 1-3, Super Mario World, New Super Mario Bros DS & Wii all added) plus a Yoshi's Island DS HD port to celebrate Yoshi's 35th anniversary, Metroid Prime 2/3 so I can finally buy all 3 games on Metroid Prime 4 launch day directly from Nintendo, a Luigi's Mansion GameCube HD port for Switch 1, all 6 Professor Layton games in one collection, Wii Play/Wii Sports & Resorts HD bundle, Nintendo Badge Arcade 2 and bring back Nintendogs!! I WANT that good ol Nintendo charm back!! The Switch 1 UI is just boring and souless, I genuinely hope the Switch 2 will have a much better UI with a mix of the Wii U/3DS layout, themes, folders from the 3DS, optional Ambiance UI music from GameCube, Wii, Wii U and 3DS and eShop music from Wii, Wii U, 3DS and Mario Maker's theme where we can change in the settings what Ambiance music to listen too while browsing or messing with the home UI, I want Smash Bros Ultimate to be ported over AND allow us to mess with the UI menus like in Melee & Brawl had, bring back the Trophies, make a PROPER Subspace story, World of Light was boring and trash, Crash Bandicoot, Astro Bot, Waluigi, Skull Kid, Knuckles, Shadow, Eggman, M Bison, Funky Kong, Cranky Kong, Dixie Kong, Octolings, Blood Falcon/Black Shadow added as new characters, I don't want a new Smash Bros, Sakurai needs to focus on reviving old IP's like Punch Out, Kid Icarus and F-Zero, just an Smash Bros Ultimate Deluxe port would do nicely with everything I mentioned
I hope with future Switch 2 variants Nintendo will bring back old features past consoles/handhelds had like a camera with AR support and the 3D gimmick (I know it wasn't everyone's but I adored this feature and deserves a second chance ESPECIALLY now with a big ass 8 inch screen!!) A clam shell or second screen attachment to play DS/3DS games physically and maybe add in a disc drive option on the backside of the dock like the PSP for GameCube, Wii and Wii U games and for THEMES we can have console themes for NES, Super Nintendo, GameBoy, N64, GameBoy Advance, GameCube (with the floating Cube back in the background), 3DS, Wii & Wii U with their respective music back alongside the old 3DS themes brought back and new themes, I'd also like to see the Retro game apps have themes instead of the boring black border for every game, this is what I wish for, for Switch 2!! 🙏🏼
Yall better get ya money right. Yall had since covid to prepare.
April can't come soon enough, these stupid videos can't go on. Calculating days to the decimal is a new low
I hope you are right🤞🏾
Nintendo could sell the system at a total loss and still make money, so please stop speculating the gd price
if the switch is 350, than all the leak rumors about how powerful it is is wrong.. low mark should be 400 anything less something up that's going to get everyone upset
The direct IS still in April.
If nitnend could price it so that after taxes it comes up to $400 even; that would be perfect.
The sooner the better
I hope with the Xbox thing Switch 2 get Lost Odyssey and Enchanted Arms... I want to play those again 😅
May 15th? Mf that's my birthday💀
Plausible. Doom day one would be hype too.
May is bad for me lol. Between middle april and may with nba playoffs going on and working i basically have zero time to play video games lol. Plus my bd is early june so let's go early june lol
MIGHT, not 'may'.
You talk like an insider, 😂 don't let the Ninjas get you !
400 USD is 576 CAD.
