Maybe just make a new clam shell metal cover that screws together to replace the plastic one? Would be easier to ship, customers cut plastic covers off, put disc in new metal cover and screw it together, don't know how much weight that would add but you could make the covers a bit thicker or expanded in the places where they can be?
Why don't you just make your adjustable dumbbells already! You keep improving the bowflex ones. What would it look like to build ones from scratch?!? I bet your design would be wayyyy better!
@@paulspaziante5766I wish there was a way around that. Average Joe's design would be superior. Adjustable dumbbells aren't in commercial for a bunch of reasons. He's already vastly improved one of the worse issues with dropping them by changing out the plastic for metal. I feel like there's a design he could come up with that is patentable in its own right
tbh, would still prefer option to buy custom plates so my 552 S2 could move between 52.5 and 90(theoretical), but this is appreciated buy the community no doubt.
No, sorry Javier. I don't. Given the amount of effort to refurbish these things, it may not be worth anyone's time to try to turn it into a business. DIY, sure, but probably not a business. I write "may not" because someone out there may have a viable business model for it, but I don't. By the way, I did finally degrease the plates, prime and paint them. Now I need to make a second video covering some ideas I have to make the plates work properly without their OEM covers. Stay tuned!
Have seen a couple o 12:29 f your bowflex videos, all I see is your hands and hear you talking, why not actually show how to do this fixes you come up with?
Hi there. If you head on over to my UA-cam channel page (by clicking my username) you'll find about 100 or so videos of various fixes. Some of them will walk you through step by step in great detail, and others are more like overviews with a summary of what needs to be done. It all depends on the type of fix. If there's something specific you'd like to see in the future, let me know and I'll consider making a video about it when I have the time. Cheers, Joe

I think its because of patent and legal issues

I agree! I upgraded last year and its been terrific!
YOu could use a Delrin/nylon piece, available for Graingers, depending on the thickness you need.

Do you sell refurbished dumbell sets?
