There may be only one rather brutal way to sell your Taycan right now...
Thanks for watching!

I went for a test drive of the Taycan with my brother to a Porche dealer in the Uk. Seriously quick. The salesmen did a good job. He said do not buy it for a couple of years until the tech and electric issues are dealt with. So he did not get a sale. We thanked him!
An anti-salesman. Gen 2 Taycans seem to be a lot better, fingers crossed!
I believe you are right. Things improving!
Thankfully managed to trade in my 4S against an RS5. However over less than 2 years and a very low milage, it dropped £1600 per month!
How's the RS5 holding up?
As an IPace owner I feel similar pain. I will not buy a premium EV again it’s simply makes no sense.
Interesting and informative.
What about Porsche's other venture, Macan electric SUVs? Would they face the same situation, considering somewhat better range and that Macans have been their bestsellers being SUVs?
It would be good to have your pearls of wisdom on those too.
I think the macan is perhaps priced a little bit better to start with, but Porsche EVs are still too expensive to start in general...
Macan prices will also hit the floor once there are enough cars around. Give it another year and you can get these for half the price.
When the 2022s and 23s 6:59 drop below 40 Grand, I'll probably buy one
Me too
Buying a new Taycan outright is a big risk as dealers might not buy it back.
💯 as happened to my wife
I've heard this from a few now. Hence you might be very limited in your options.
I'd love a Taycan one day. Already I can pick up a nice 4S for around 55k. Currently driving the BMW i4 on a lease as a daily but when that is due to handin in two years I can image I can find said Taycans for 45k which is to me crazy value proposition (yes I live in Europe so emissions and gas prices are a thing, and I have solar power and a charger at home).
When they get that cheap it's hard not to consider...
Will you be getting a gen 2 next?
Perhaps when they've come down a bit used
Hopefully Gen2. Will be better. Probably have to wait 2 years or so for all this to settle down.
More like 2 weeks.. sadly.
I think Gen 2 is looking good for reliability, need to give the depreciation time to see!
pretty bad situation with taycan, have a taycan turbo on 48 months pcp and as per the contract it has guranteed future value of 61k, while half way into the contract and Porsche themselves valuing this at 44k !!! how did they get the numbers so terribly wrong, so im paying way more per month than this car is worth… worst decision ever to buy porsche ev
But that means you've got a good deal. You knew the guaranteed future value when you signed up.
well the problem is that gfv after 48 months is 61k, and after 2.5 years into the pcp, the car is already deprecated so much that it is valued now at around 44-45k, so you can imagine when its 48 months it’s guaranteed that it wont be worth the guarantee future value, hence if i want to upgrade of part ex now, i will be around 25-30k in deficit,
It’s not the quarantined value, it’s the quarantined debt you owe to buy it outright. The higher the guaranteed value, the worse it is for the owner.
yep but i had never ever had any if my previous cars pcp got into this situation, ive always oart ex my cars around 2.5-3 yrs in a 48 month contract and had always got equity, this time it is almost 100% that i will have no option but to run the full contract and in the end clearly it wont be 61k so only option will be to return the car, lesson learnt, porsche and ev its a total NO for me
@@physal5496It's not in VWFS's interest to get a GFV wrong. I don't think anyone saw this coming. If you get a new finance quote today, you'll make funny noises when you look at it 😆
A game I like to play, look at the private Taycan adverts on Autotrader and put those registrations back into Autotrader as if I’m going to sell the car. The recommended prices are often 20 to 30 percent less than what the sellers are asking.
A few things I’ve noticed with the Taycan market: The lowest priced cars usually sell the fastest. The higher spec cars are much more desirable and also sell quicker. There are surprisingly few RWD models for sale, most seem to be 4S.
It’s a shame that Porsche didn’t make the rear +1 seat standard. It rules out quite a few cars for me. But as stated in the video, it’s a buyer’s market with plenty of choice.
That's because the 4S was launched earlier than the RWD.
Everything is so hyped. I just sold my 1st Taycan that I purchased new in June 2020 for £97K (less £3.5K incentive at the time) for £43400 to a dealer. I owned the car for 4.5 years and 38K miles. That depreciation is the norm if not better than any expensive 4 door car. The anti electric agenda is so over hyped and everyone is getting on the bandwagon to get hits. Laughable.
The big miss with this comment is I'm not anti electric.
@@TABonTV and that's the only miss.
Leases ending, no tax breaks for second hand cars and electrical gremlins.
Problem is the Taycan is an iPhone 3, it’s good but the next one i.e. iPhone 4 will be much better etc. Will be quite a while until we get to the equivalent of an iPhone 11 when each iteration is 🤷♂️ .
Really! The 2025 Taycan is a very minor update of the 2020. 5 Years!!
@@peterletts194 I wouldn't say it's minor under the hood... You'd never see such gains in an ICE facelift
@@TABonTV yeah true in that regard. 👍
The EV evolution is just so fast. A 2025 4S is basically a 2022 Turbo in terms of performance, but has better range. So essentially the 2022 Turbo has to depreciate to be cheaper than a 2025 4S because it really is a worse car in essentially every way now. Maybe in 10 years EV tech will stabilize and cars will keep their value better but right now it's a quagmire.
Lol that the OG Turbo and Turbo S were bad deals for the original asking prices I really hope was no surprise for ANYONE.
Yes, the improvements are so huge it's not good for gen 1
Wouldn’t touch one. Headaches aren’t worth it.
Best car I've ever owned.
Still would not buy a EV
Yet most people who have owned an EV would never go back to ICE.
Buy one second hand and you won't look back.
@@peterletts194
Agree.
I had i4 eDrive 40 before, and now Macan electric RWD, and love it. EVs a lot better better in so many ways.
Great car garbage battery, run away 😂😂
Might be premium, might be luxury, but it’s electric and that’s utter gash 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Still drives better than your Camry
@@mpc007it’s still shit
Really and you've probably never driven one.
@@peterletts194 still shit.
