With regard depreciation, most people don’t buy Porsche’s worrying about depreciation, if so, then you obviously can’t afford it! I bought my Taycan knowing it’ll definitely depreciate substantially but, I didn’t care because I thought owning a Porsche Taycan with it’s good looks, horse power, road presence, quality, coupled with my love for high-end powerful cars was enough to say “sod the depreciation, we only live once!”.
Thanks for sharing, I received a similar notice back in November in the U.S. from Audi for my RS e-tron GT. They also confirmed in their letter that real time Audi’s battery monitoring is active and accessible on my vehicle, and my battery is currently issue free. I’m glad both J1 Platform manufacturers have taken this step towards greater transparency.
it was a great video TAB.......you have always been very measured and i really value your opinion and you highlighted something I've been saying for last 12 months......please keep going mate 👏👏👏👏
ICE vehicles receive just as many recalls and sometimes more. Some of those recalls can be just as serious, but you don't hear people going on about it because that is part of owning a car, especially one that is new to the market.
macmeister has had his home insurance cancelled after the latest taycan recall letter due to the perceived fire risk. he didn't give his details during the call but they worked it out from his phone number he rang them on lol
Yeah I just watched that macmeister video also about insurance dropping him and not sure if he got his insurance back again. So what are insurance companies saying about this kind of recall and possible catch fires/restrictions on where to park the vehicles??????
I do not live in the UK, so I cannot comment on the specific situation (..) in Switzerland (so far) there is no limitation on coverage (..) Personally, I do not think a broader restriction will come, otherwise the entire EV-Industry can simply shut down (..)
I sold my Taycan a week b4 this letter came out. Sorry for the next owner. Can you imagine buying an EV and getting a letter like this? Glad I ditched mine when I did. It was depreciating faster than I could pay it off. No more Porsches for me. I was treated like a sewer rat by the dealer at the end.
Except you didn't have a Porsche . You had a Taycan. And would you prefer a company did a recall or did nothing? I've had several Porsches and always sold for a profit. Also main dealer service always been exceptional. You;re experience may have come down to your attitude perhaps.
Firstly must state I love my taycan but… it’s now on its 3rd heater currently at a Porsche centre with another electrical fault it’s 3rd in the last 18 months .Recall already attended to by Porsche centre late November.if only it worked!! Sublime combination of comfort pace and road holding .
Porsche missed to enable a more sophisticated battery control from day one (..) furthermore, in my opinion they are not transparent with all the related issues (..) A pity since they have the credibility to behave differently (..) cheers
The more Porsche linger, the harder the depreciation hits these cars. I think they are taking a page from Jaguar and plan to buy them back pennies on the dollar.
Gotta wonder, with the tons of Taycan’s sitting on dealer lots, will their batteries die faster? Prices are still to high in Canada, but hopefully get down to $60k so I can buy one 😊
Thanks for the heads up TAB on this .....1 question is it only on the turbos or all models ?? Happy New Year mate looking forward to more of your updates 👏👏👏👏
Tesla Model "S" has been in continuous High Volume production for over 12 years now! So, taking into account "Ramping Up" at least 20% of them are 8+ years old! 12K miles x 8 years =96K miles. Wonderful news - now instead of knowing that your £100k + electric car has broken down simply because of an electrical fault the system will tell you what type of electrical fault is responsible for you standing at the side of the road. We’re supposed to believe this is a good thing?
I mean ICE cars break down too. They have recalls too. I remember in 2003 my brand new 350z (before Nissan went to complete shit) needed 3 transmissions due to faulty synchros. And the AFM would break, mine left me stranded in the middle of the road because it kills the engine.
@@rasmusansin3273 it’s a cars issue. That’s the point. Plenty of electric and hybrid cars have had recalls and issues. That’s how production works. I build tanks for a living, we even do recalls on them for the military. Despite a top notch quality program.

No. I’ve been told the Panamera is the least reliable by Porsche. Apparently the 911 is the most reliable then the boxster/cayman then the Taycan, then the ICE Macan then the Cayenne, then the electric Macan then the Panamera as the least reliable 😭
@ That maybe correct, but from my experience previously owning a 911 and cayenne for a number of years, both were very reliable, not needing anything apart from servicing and fuel.
