I am a white Texan. When my kids were younger, I had three really close friends, and all of us were single moms. One is an American military brat born in Germany and raised in Texas; one is Mexican; and one is Indian. We spent so much time together, juggling meals and school events and making sure everybody was taken care of, we called ourselves the Tex-Mex-Index family. Whoever was out in public with some of the others' kids got some pretty weird looks, and we laughed about it and spread the bridge-building gospel to any strangers who asked questions. I'm now married to a Tennessean, the Mexican is now married to a black man, and the military brat and the Indian have never remarried. We are all still dear friends. The kids are all grown, except the last one, born to the Mexican and the black man. We all still love each other's kids like they were our own, and we're all waiting for grandchildren. I just don't understand why people are so hung up on race.

Billy - when you do a video like this one, I don't run from your channel. Instead, I dig in and feel more supportive of your channel because it reminds me that you and I are on the same page. I've had it with the flagrant racism from our elite leadership that has no desire other than to keep us all at one another's throats. We need to remember that we are all Americans and that our enemy isn't each other, but rather the 'leadership' whose goal is to keep us from recognizing that THEY are the ones we should be bringing to heel.

My gripe with Black History Month is they never talk about the Black Blues Musicians of the past. If it were not for these people,
us white kids of the 50s & 60s would not have had any music worth a damn to listen to. The Stones, Clapton, Lynyrd Skynyrd
and many more trace the roots of their music to the Field Hollers of the late 1800s. Muddy Waters said it best,
"The Blues had a baby and they named it Rock & Roll".

I don't hate, I always told my children not to use that word. I don't dislike people because of the colour of their skin. I think I speak for most people on the planet.

I'm with you Billy, why all the "history" months? Why not one month devoted solely to American history which would include ALL of us! Maybe even each state could include a state history month, cause that's certainly not taught in our schools today.

In all honesty, I’m struggling to do the same my friend.
Being retired Military I still follow the rules and ideas from my up bringing and the values re instilled in the military. People are bodies, not guys not girls not of any color, treat them like you would want to be treated; it might take a while but what you put forward usually comes back to you many fold. You are the center, and for 3 circles (like a target each ring is the next larger ring) meet them neighbors. This method has worked everywhere I was stationed; that 25 years around the world. Retired now and time to open a new chapter. Moving now from WYO to Mid Southern TN; better growing and longer seasons, and low and behold it's still true. Go out and meet your neighbors and help when needed, sometimes you'll get funny looks but the walls come down quickly, if not you have others around you that will fill in the gaps of the ones that are just stuck in their ways. God Bless from WYO, hopefully this tip works for you.

I totally understand. I just eat the watermelon I grow myself. Their loss. However, around here, fried chicken is a staple. We raised chickens. There are only so many ways you can prepare them. Frying is one of the best, lol. I didn't realize it was a racial thing until I saw a Tyler Perry movie.

This is definitely a crazy world.
Advertisers put the people in the commercial who either look like their target audience or people who want to be like their target audience. Example - McDonald's commercials I've seen seem to focus on young families and split families = their target audience. If they were real, their commercials would show customers who are often sick, overweight, and not able to spend much money on the meal but you know realism doesn't always sell products like that. Alcohol commercials always show young, fit people having a good time because that's the idea they're selling to their audience. Heck, I grew up in the South and chose to remain in the South after my time in the military - I grew up on fried chicken, hot water cornbread, black-eyed peas and 'greens with cold watermelon (and kool-aid) good anytime on a hot day as did nearly ALL of my friends and neighbors. How any of this food became a stereotype of one shade of humans is beyond me! As a side note - there is ONE RACE = Human, but many varieties. Military taught us as brothers and sisters in the same family, with the familial rivalry between the branches - why can't civies understand that? (sigh) I know - preaching to the choir. LOL Thank you, Billy, for your video and your continuing service to our country.

I would love to see the reactions. You should indeed try it. God save America from our own stupidity. Racial slurs and jokes were strictly forbidden in the family I grew up in and the one I led. At the same time, we lived in the country in the Pacific Northwest, so we had no people of color in our schools and community. I had no black friends because none attended my school. I now have two grandchildren of color because my son adopted them, and I love them and have a better understanding of the care they need to take to not offend some people in Tennessee where they live.
Just as you were explaining the commercial pandering to black stereotypes, there was a commercial break and they showed an Old Spice and a Windows commercial and every face was black for those two commercials. Sorry people, but I love chicken, too.
