But the fact that the Razzys are given any platform AT ALL is fucking crazy to me. There's nothing funny to me about putting actors on blast for things that are usually out if their control. The amount of bitterness in the comments good lord. Yes, we get it. Disney made Kenobi, Book of Boba Fett and Acolyte. Judge something by it's own merits. Interacting with the fandom at times is so misarable as even when something is good - it'll turn back to fixating on something else entirely to complain. It's a good light hearted show in Star Wars. Came into it pretty skeptical. But I warmed up to it. As you said, the dynamics and acting is surprisingly well done. Those costumes for the aliens are top notch, too. I’d say the first episode was made better being released with episode 2, which is the stronger episode for sure. The planet the kids come from has to have been “lost” for some time, if it’s a “myth”. By far the most intriguing mystery is Jud Na Nawood, Jude Law’s character. Looking up his first and last names doesn’t provide clear cut meanings, and they seem to have different interpretations in general. This could be a clue to how his character blends in, or can be many different things at once. If he is indeed a Jedi, perhaps he’s a different version of a Jedi.
My first thought when I saw the trailer was, "Oh..so it's like Space Goonies. My kids would love it." I was happy that I can share my love for SW with my kids.
I was thinking that the first episode was a little dragging, but the second episode had me smiling. Also the mystery set up of the kids’ home planet is interesting. Them being isolated it seems like from the rest of the galaxy. Having the children even questioning stars.
@@madcapmiguel5071it will probably start off slow with the viewership but after word of mouth it should pick up. Andors viewership eventually went up.
Amazing how extremely critical star wars UA-camrs are surprised that Disney would not want to let them w have access to content to prematurely negatively sway the farm base before the show comes out. Especially when they were already giving bad vibes about there being a focus on child characters and questions whether jedi are present.
The show has several moments in it that reminds me of other movies and shows. The production team seems to be pulling ideas from many different sources like, The Goonies, E.T., Fallout, Lost in Space, The Magic School Bus, Peter Pan, Guardians of the Galaxy and of course Pirates of the Caribbean. Jude Law's character and story so far seems very Jack Sparrow-esque. I look forward to seeing what comes next.
So many 80s vibes in this - I caught echoes of Goonies, Explorers and a bit of Home Alone with the kids. Definitely a good balance of entertainment for adults and younger viewers.
I feel like I should have seen this coming, but I was absolutely NOT expecting to get heavy Secrets of Monkey Island vibes from the soundtrack. Hell, the ED during the credits for Episode 2 gave me goosebumps. Sold. I'm sold, and I don't care how bad ripping the hook out might feel at the end of the season.
I was really impressed. I totaally enjoyed it, and I too was skeptical. I just found it thoroughly enjoyable. Not to mention all of the practical effects, which were a nice touch.
I've been describing this series to my folks as "Goonies in Star Wars." When watching it, I both agreed that At Attin looked a little too suburban for Star Wars and recognized my younger self in the characters. I was that kid who had pretend lightsaber fights and read a lot of history and fantasy books. I also remember the animosity between boys and girls, especially the kind of girl who thinks she's so smart and can talk her way out of any situation. This show brought me back to childhood. I also picked up on the Pirates of the Caribbean vibes in Episode 2.
What about in the first episode when Wim climbs on Neel’s roof and sees Neel in the bath, that was hilarious, and I also thought that Neel’s siblings were adorable
I expected a complete cringe fest, but the first 2 episodes are actually REALLY GOOD! Solid plot, great acting by the kids, good special effects and amazing soundtrack. It's a very competently made adventure series. Let's hope the rest of the season keeps the quality of the premiere!
I enjoyed the first two episodes. I didn't really have high expectations but they certainly were exceeded. I definitely think the Suburban setting of the kids' home planet is going to be thematically appropriate as we learn more about whatever is going on there. Also, There are Easter eggs which reference the live-action Ewok movies and the Holiday Special, of all things.
My guess is their home planet was an Old Republic colony that somehow was cut off from the rest of the Galaxy, which is why their technology seems very ‘80’s’- they’re probably still using tech that’s generations behind the New Republic. Also explains why they’re so aware of Jedi. The whole myth about the planet being a ‘treasure world’ will probably be resolved as the ‘treasure’ being the people cut off from the Galaxy. It’ll still be interesting to see exactly why and how the planet was cut off and for how long.
My brother and I watched both episodes and we loved it! Definitely has that Goonies/Stranger Things vibe and it's the most I've loved a show at start since The Mandalorian 🤘
I'm really happy to be engage with a Star Wars story once again. With all previous shows, after each episode i was always trying to convince myself that it wasn't that bad and that the next might be really good... here, i'm genuinely excited for the next one.
I hope its good. I feel like this is a show that is meant to be more casual rather than something to take seriously. Like with the acolyte, you were supposed to take it seriously. Skeleton Crew has a more casual vibe. Just a cool little thing that happens to be in star wars
Love the intro, pulls you in from the get go and conveys what your getting in a show, awed by the fact the pirates incorporated EVA combat when it came to taking the cargo ship and it would be awesome if we saw more of that in SW.
I wonder if we’ll find out 10 years from now that for Andor and Skeleton Crew, Lucasfilm told the production teams, like, “follow this basic premise, but these shows aren’t that important so you can have full creative control from there.” And shocker, they actually turned out great without a super-crunchy deadline or meddling & micromanagement…
Genuinely suprised how much I liked the first two episodes and how well the 'Star Wars does Goonies' concept is working so far. I imediately love SM-33 and the little rat in his brain XD
Whoa whoa whoa A reasonable reaction to not liking something? Buddy, this is the Star Wars fandom, we don't do that here. You're supposed to say that it's objectively bad and that anyone who likes it is an idiot and "woke" or something.
I'm so happy with the first two episodes. Not as great as Andor, but feels a bit more like Star Wars. Also happy all the haters/skeptics major concern was made mostly a nothingburger.
I was skeptical about the design of At Attin, but learning that its like a secret planet made me cool w the idea. Its not part of the rest of the galaxy, I also like how its a flip of the usual "we have to find the secret planet". This time the characters are from the secret planet!
Good start to the show. I am looking forward to seeing how it plays out. I think the release schedule is part of what is hurting these shows. After re-watching Andor in a 'binge' fashion, it was much more enjoyable.
What I like about this show is how it showcases life in the Galaxy from civilians’ perspective instead of from the POV of Jedi, politicians, soldiers or outlaws.
Honestly, I'd love it at this point if they'd put review embargos right up until about 24 hours before launch. So often, I think, we're getting shows colored by a few picky reviewers long before the general public even gets to form an opinion. I can't even begin to describe how many films and shows end up with a low rating from critics, only to be adored by the general audience. I'm so annoyed at hearing "You're going to love/hate this show!" weeks before it even launches. It's even worse with games these days. Influencers getting beta copies early on, then talking about how bad the game is and how it's not even worth getting on sale. Then it turns out... the game is *fine*. It's not always the case, but I feel like many reviewers know that negative publicity (e.g. 'This new show they put a hundred million into is going to SUCK!" will grab more attention than "Million dollar show looks like it's worth a million dollars".
personally i didn't like it but after all the negativity that came from the acolyte im glad that the show seems to be received well and that there is now some more much needed positivity within the star wars space
I agree. I enjoyed it but it also doesn't seem to be having the same problem as andor withe the fighting that occurred I the fandom. There'll be some but I javent found any
I’m excited to learn more about this treasure. I kinda hope it has a curse on it or is in some kind of dark side, Nexus. Then we could probably get scary dark side creatures attacking the pirates after they try to steal the treasure similar to the ending of the lost ark where they opened the ark and vengeful angels killed everyone
I think the 'vault dweller' vibe is spot on, because I think that At Attin is a planet that isn't aware that the Clone Wars are over. I think the barrier is a cloak.
The first episode gave me a funny flashback to when I was a child like 18 years ago. They started dueling with invisible lightsabers just like me and my friends then did at the playground. Really funny to see it in a Star Wars show itself.
I agree with the At Attin give Fallout Vault vibes, especially with the GOAT style test to determine future jobs and how indoctrinated everyone seems with the system
At the very beginning of the first episode, I was a little confused as to how the Jedi were still icons to the kids and not something systematically covered up by the Empire that they’d hardly understand. But then by episode too I liked that subtle foreshadowing that the planet isn’t entirely connected to the galaxy
@ZenMonkeyGod yeah, I should probably say...the boys should be 2 years older. Annie, being 9 in Clone Wars, made his character unbearable for me. If you notice the girls are a little older so they seem to be handling this situation better. The boys, especially the blue child, seem to be on the verge of tears.
I think Disney is a lil hesitant marketing Star Wars and Marvel projects due to some of the backlash or flops they’ve had.. but I really found this show to be delightful n think it has potential to be considered to be a big win like Andor or Mando. Definitely looking forward to the weeks ahead and learning more about Jude Laws character n the kids home planet.. there’s something not right there hah
So I think the whole dynamic involving Wym and his dad is that both are dealing with it separately instead of together. I feel his father is burying himself in his work to keep himself busy as to not give himself time to think about it. I feel him facing the death of his wife will be apart of his character's plot and by extension, Wym's character plot. I feel some of Fern's aggressiveness so to speak has to do with the unmentioned father though a good part is her rebelling against her mother and her expectation (the whole 'I don't want to do what my parent does despite their desire for me to' type of thing). It's obviously WAY too early to have any clear idea where it's going but that's the feeling so far character wise. Honestly, how Wym's father is dealing with his wife's death is pretty similar to the father of one of my two main characters in my own fiction book. You definitely see his pain when Wym asks him to read a story to him like his mom used to do.
Honestly can see why they shielded it I feel like that made it better in a way. Without them constantly hyping it up and leaking stuff they allowed us to just watch and determine ourselves raw what we think. Overall the adolescent magic reminding me of my childhood already makes me love it
So far so good. It’s a good take on Star Wars especially the start of the show and throwing in a criminal element of awesome pirate characters and for Disney they’re not holding much back which is appreciated.
I’ll be surprised if hondo doesn’t appear, he seems like the perfect character to appear in this show, a pirate but at the same time a lovable goofball I don’t see why not, and for all we know he’s still around. I think last we saw him was in rebels correct me if I’m wrong
Even though it would be very cool, Hondo would be very old by now. I mean he saw the CW and rise and fall of the empire. And i assume that SC takes place years after the fall of the empire

But it's dumb to deem a film DOA based solely on a few scenes in a trailer.
For example, some anti-woke grifters said that the teaser for "Godzilla x Kong" proved the film was part of the woke agenda because Godzilla was glowing pink instead of the usual blue. Real Godzilla fans like Dangerville let the grifters have it for being so stupid.
Of course, "Godzilla x Kong" made its debut and was a blockbuster hit. Turns out that even casual moviegoers were cool with Godzilla being pink, especially when the film offered an in-universe explanation.
I didn’t realize that Fern actress is the same girl from Firestarter, glad she’s still got a role after the Raspberry Awards were being mean to the girl.
They gave a razzie to kid? The firestarter remake sucked but that’s kind of f’efd up.
@ they didn’t they took her off that list.
The Raspberry Awards are, un my opinion, the most disgusting thing that Hollywood openly accepts. Obviously there's a bunch of far worse BS that goes in behind the scenes. But the fact that the Razzys are given any platform AT ALL is fucking crazy to me. There's nothing funny to me about putting actors on blast for things that are usually out if their control. ESPECIALLY when it involves actual children.
@@TheTrollingMaster-xr9el They nominated her, but rescinded the nomination after (rightfully) getting a ton of backlash.
I had forgotten about that movie till I recognised her. Of all the issues I had with the movie, the acting certainly wasn't one of them! The cast did very well
It might just be me, but when that undersecretary lady said something about a Great Work, my mind immediately jumped to the High Republic and Lina Soh. Could this mean that At Attin has been cut off since the High Republic era?
Critic Paul Tassi over at Forbes is asking the SAME question.
I think both of you are spot on with your theory.
Yes
The amount of bitterness in the comments good lord. Yes, we get it. Disney made Kenobi, Book of Boba Fett and Acolyte. Judge something by it's own merits. Interacting with the fandom at times is so misarable as even when something is good - it'll turn back to fixating on something else entirely to complain. It's a good light hearted show in Star Wars. No one forcing you to watch it, nor is "darker" Star Wars getting cancelled. Just chill out.
These people will prop up Legends as a gotcha to anyone being positive about modern Star Wars without ever actually knowing anything about it.
You can't expect people to continue to have faith in a franchise that keeps missing over and over and and over again.
@@lazlotakahashi4150they’ll do that without realizing half of the legends material is backwater garbage that Lucas refused to acknowledge as canon either.
Like Disney doesn’t always get it perfect, neither did the EU, and neither did George Lucas when it comes down to it (especially in the eyes of so many fans who are so quick to criticize basically anything that isn’t OT), all we can do it be happy when it’s good and support the stuff that IS good so more of it hopefully gets made
I believe in judging separately. While their other shows were disappointing, this one looks good.
@lazlotakahashi4150 yeah the only decent things that came from legends was the battle front games and force unleashed and literally anything to do with the old Republic I didn't really like the vong because it didn't feel star warsy and I haven't read jedi academy but apparently it sucks near the end
Saying this is one of the best Star Wars shows is really saying something because Andor exists and season one and two of Mandalorian
I think it is definitely on pas with those shows.
Well he said one of the best, not the best of all so it's still a valid statement.
I'm hoping that old droid gets repaired.
They definitely will, no way they'd drop him after just 2 episodes.
@bobthestinky7369 if not i will be very disappointed.
That was actually really good, had a lot of fun, nostalgia, man I’m excited. This is coming from a strong Acolyte hater 😭😂
I don't know how anyone *isn't* an Acolyte hater, that show was literally the worst thing I have ever watched in my life
My first thought when I saw the trailer was, "Oh..so it's like Space Goonies.

Caravan was a fun movie. So, why can't a show combine the vibe of that movie with The Goonies?
I hope this shows gets good ratings
It deserves it, I can't wait to watch it again with my nephew this weekend
@@madcapmiguel5071it will probably start off slow with the viewership but after word of mouth it should pick up. Andors viewership eventually went up.
this show is just, fun to watch. it's been a while since i could say that about a star wars show
I agree, this feels like something from 10+ years ago, in a good way
Silvo: Long John Silver
SM-33: Smee
Pirate story references galore.
Amazing how extremely critical star wars UA-camrs are surprised that Disney would not want to let them w have access to content to prematurely negatively sway the farm base before the show comes out. Especially when they were already giving bad vibes about there being a focus on child characters and questions whether jedi are present.
7:36 I like how you changed the outro music to the Sherbet Land theme song from Mario Kart Double Dash. A classic song 👌
Nostalgia from this song goes crazy
The show has several moments in it that reminds me of other movies and shows. The production team seems to be pulling ideas from many different sources like, The Goonies, E.T., Fallout, Lost in Space, The Magic School Bus, Peter Pan, Guardians of the Galaxy and of course Pirates of the Caribbean. Jude Law's character and story so far seems very Jack Sparrow-esque. I look forward to seeing what comes next.
More Treasure Island/Planet than Pirates of the Caribbean.
Well that's a nice positive for once
So many 80s vibes in this - I caught echoes of Goonies, Explorers and a bit of Home Alone with the kids. Definitely a good balance of entertainment for adults and younger viewers.
the world isn't just earthlike, it's specifically US American suburb like 😅
For real. It's like America is the only country on earth lol

Or, a planet the Gou'alud have conquered.
It's specifically California suburb like. Ain't nothing like that in New England.
That they had the least confidence in the better shows is awfully telling.

Simple. Great writing, acting, and direction.
@@ledinyourwallsI wonder if having a more specific demographic in mind is the key. Trying to appeal to everyone rarely works.
Great show! It was fun, funny, kept you guessing, the actors were well rounded, lots of aliens, well directed and shot… Star Wars is back!
It was a good thing he didn't feel through the glass
@@robertagren9360 yeah, that would’ve been awkward 😬
Called it pretty early at the start of episode 1 with my wife, but I enjoy that its kind of reverse treasure island/planet.
I just watched the first episode. Not hating it so far, so I'm cautiously optimistic. It's got heart.
Genuinely enjoying Skeleton Crew so far, as well
My brother and I watched both episodes and we loved it!
I had goosebumps, loved it
I thought it was pretty wizard
I love that droid
I hope its good. I feel like this is a show that is meant to be more casual rather than something to take seriously. Like with the acolyte, you were supposed to take it seriously. Skeleton Crew has a more casual vibe. Just a cool little thing that happens to be in star wars
Gonna wait a few eps
Same
Love the intro, pulls you in from the get go and conveys what your getting in a show, awed by the fact the pirates incorporated EVA combat when it came to taking the cargo ship and it would be awesome if we saw more of that in SW.
These are GOOD child actors. I largely forgot I was watching kid actors.
Thank God there are aliens and you actually feel like you are in space again lol
It was incredible! There's so much intrigue to it as well
The “lost planet” the old republic credits in perfect mint condition. Very very interesting.
Genuinely suprised how much I liked the first two episodes and how well the 'Star Wars does Goonies' concept is working so far. I imediately love SM-33 and the little rat in his brain XD
I like it a lot already! The world building in just 2 episodes was amazing and these kid actors are fantastic
I can't believe it referenced the Holiday Special.
I'm glad people like it. Its not for me.
Whoa whoa whoa
A reasonable reaction to not liking something? Buddy, this is the Star Wars fandom, we don't do that here. You're supposed to say that it's objectively bad and that anyone who likes it is an idiot and "woke" or something.
Then don’t comment
I like it because it reflects how I used to feel about Star Wars growing up. It's awesome.
@@UltraBrianHey come on, this is a perfectly respectful, reasonable take. It's fine
@@UltraBrian Does oppressing people's opinions make you feel big, lil bro? Grow up.
You were very wrong no less, it's genuinely some of the best looking and most engaging Star Wars we've gotten in a hot minute.
I fully expect this show to take a seriously dark turn towards the end
I watched it with my kids and I have to say: I loved it. My kids loved it. We're all excited for the next episode.
I'm so happy with the first two episodes. Not as great as Andor, but feels a bit more like Star Wars.
Also happy all the haters/skeptics major concern was made mostly a nothingburger.
There seems to be a fairly major divide between what fans love about Star Wars and what Disney THINKS we love about Star Wars.
I think the day bump up was a lure for the Cyber Monday bundle deal that I've seen for Disney+ and Hulu, not necessarily a shield. Glad you liked it!
Bloody loved it to be honest, is it for everyone? No but that's OK, you are never going to please everyone, so why bother trying.
Looking forward to watching it. Thanks for the review!
personally i didn't like it but after all the negativity that came from the acolyte im glad that the show seems to be received well and that there is now some more much needed positivity within the star wars space
I agree. I enjoyed it but it also doesn't seem to be having the same problem as andor withe the fighting that occurred I the fandom. There'll be some but I javent found any
I really loved the soundtrack, the end credits music is a real banger.
Yeah definitely a 90s vibe with this show, and that's not a bad thing...
I'm glad i was wrong too! Fun space adventure here and the characters are great. First SW to actually make me feel good since Mando season 2
My son and I loved it, he's 6, and was locked in! Just a fun adventure with great action and some laughs. So far I'm surprised!
I didn’t know what to expect with this show but I really like it
Acting was good, visuals were good, the story is good. I'm excited for the rest. The starting planet was giving me City of Ember vibes.
My biggest gripe is the children's ages. I think they should have been a few years older. Aside from that, it seems pretty good.
It probably wouldn't have affected anything much. If anything, them being so young makes the stakes feel that much higher
I think that the Acolyte is the reason for the review embargo.
Honestly can see why they shielded it I feel like that made it better in a way. Without them constantly hyping it up and leaking stuff they allowed us to just watch and determine ourselves raw what we think. Overall the adolescent magic reminding me of my childhood already makes me love it
Is anyone else kinda reminded of the old "Galaxy of Fear" YA books from the 90s when watching Skeleton Crew? In a good way, mind.
So far so good. It’s a good take on Star Wars especially the start of the show and throwing in a criminal element of awesome pirate characters and for Disney they’re not holding much back which is appreciated.
people always ready to hate and never enjoy, haven't watched it yet but I'm glad people like it so far!
I'm not a fan of the current crop of disney star wars shows but I was pleasantly surprised by this.
I’ll be surprised if hondo doesn’t appear, he seems like the perfect character to appear in this show, a pirate but at the same time a lovable goofball I don’t see why not, and for all we know he’s still around. I think last we saw him was in rebels correct me if I’m wrong
I hope not. We've had enough of that.
Even though it would be very cool, Hondo would be very old by now. I mean he saw the CW and rise and fall of the empire. And i assume that SC takes place years after the fall of the empire
