Also as the kids are being locked in the brig and the keys are put on the hook you can hear whistling, those whistling sounds come from the Pirates of the Caribbean rides at Disneyland and Magic Kingdom where the pirates are trying to whistle for the dog to bring them the keys
@@madisonlederer1545Also, I’m not sure what kind of ship was under attack in the beginning, but the moment the bridge passed the camera my brain immediately jumped to the Galactic Starcruiser.

Captain Silvo's conversation while choking the captain of the New Republic ship is a reference to Darth Vader's conversation with Captain Antilles in A New Hope: "We have no credit shipment. This is a bulk freighter!" "If this is a bulk freighter, why is your vault magnetically sealed?"
This show leans so much into ET imagery, it makes me really wonder if we'll see an E.T. running around. They are canon, after all, and had a seat in the Galactic Senate.

As far as Ram knew he definitely coined the phrase and tried to spread it. Glad you mentioned it, its what I immediately thought of, love Ram! Alex is referring to the Old Republic, where the credits are from, which predates the High Republic even. I think wizard is constantly being coined, attempted to spread, beaten down, and forgotten, continuously all throughout history
The red dots in the sky used to create the barrier over At Attin could be similar technology to the stormseeds the Nihil used to create their barrier in the High Republic. The Nihil barrier also prevented both ships and communications in / out of the occlusion zone (OZ)
The kids in the cell in episode 2 trying to get the key is a reference to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland, where the pirates are trying to entice a dog holding a key to come near them as the pirates are holding a bone. It’s even framed like it in a couple shots.
The stylized ships above Wims bed have two whose shadows look like a Snowspeeder and a U-Wing. That may just be a coincidence, but it feels intentional. Jaleel White is playing a pirate in this show, Urkel's in Star Wars. According to the Episode Guide, the racer kid making taunting Fern is named Bonjj Phalfa, playing on the name of Bob Falfa from American Graffiti.
The whole pirate attack intro take beats straight from the opening of ANH of the sounds of the boarding, the hunkering down and looking up at the noises. Some have already pointed out the dialogue of the poor doomed captain, but the entire sequence seemed like a pretty heavy wink at the classic.
I really want Liberty’s Misrule to show up or get a mention! A pirate Super Star Destroyer is such a cool idea that it sucks it hasn’t appeared outside of the Aftermath Trilogy.
This one is hard to really explain in canon. Like, how did a pirate crew manage to take over an entire super Star destroyer. No way they'd have the manpower on their crew to take down the ships storm trooper complement
@@andrewclark1945 So fun thing, in the new Disney Canon, the Rebels have taken over Star Destroyers multiple times in the comics and novels. It's seen as hard to do but not impossible and requires impeccable planning and a lot of luck/force on your side. It's apparently the Star Wars version of shooting the moon. So if like a squad of 20 Rebels including the original trio can do it, an entire pirate fleet can. The issue with the Empire is similar to the US Military, it's not that our equipment is the best, it's that once something is compromised back up is soon to come. So one, trying to isolate one Star Destroyer and two, getting TF out of there ASAP because soon about five of them will show up as back up.
The entire opening scene of episode 1 is very similar to the opening of A New Hope: the pirates board the ship just like the Stormtrooper boarded Leia's ship, Captain Silvo emerges from the door and checks the surroundings just like Vader did, we get shots of the crew fighting back just like Leia's crew did, and later on Silvo takes the guy for the collar and asks why the cellar is magnetized, if this is just a freighter, just like Vaded did with Leia's officer asking where is the ambassador, if that was just a diplomatic ship. They are not shot 1:1, but if you put them side by side you can clearly see that they look very similar.
It's double fun given that the droid first mate is named SM-33, as one of the bad guys on Young Jedi Adventures is a droid pirate who's a send up to bunch of classic pirate tropes, including a handful of direct Captain Hook references.
When the kids arrive at the port you can see in the background a ship that resembles the original concept art for the Millenium Falcon, which was called the Pirate Ship
There is a ship in the background as they dock that so so so looks like the original design for the "Pirate Ship" before it was remade as the Blockade Runner. Check it
There's a fun easter egg in the brig. In the background you can hear whistling which is the same whistling from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and movie.
I wonder if At Attin is an homage of sorts to Asimov's work? It is staffed by loads of robots and could be a kind of old republic "Foundation" type planet?
Nah, it's At-Attin the mysterious city of treasure and legend that doesn't exist, like ye olde At-Lantis. Either that or it has something to do with AT-ATs. 😅
I haven't seen anyone identifying the different classes of ships in the pirate fleet yet (aside from one notable one). So in case we (and likely we will) see the various ships parked around Port Borgo again in the next episode, I felt it was worth calling out the ones I was able to identify classes for, in case you were interested in calling them out in the next eggs video. There are a couple Pelta-class Cruisers, a couple Coruscant Transports, a ZH40 Tribune-class freightor (notable because it could be Hondo's ship), a Gozanti Armed Transport, an Avandor-class fighter/transport (Guavian Death Gang?), a Lothalian Corvette, and acouple of ships that look like they're from the same manufacturer as the Cumulus-class but smaller (or possibly Cumulus Corsairs under construction/repair/refit?). However the big one, that I noticed that I haven't seen anybody mention yet... Is the DP20 Frigate visible out past the capital ship as they are flying in (aka the Corellian Gunship from Empire at War with its more conical bridge area vs the CR90 hammerhead) which started as initial concepts for the Falcon that eventually evolved into the CR90. As far as I am aware though... This is the class's first canon appearance, as it was previously only used in Legends. Additional side note, in an upcoming episode shown in the trailer when the pirates are about to attack the rich looking planet and some x-wings can be seen flying by... I am pretty sure that a Tri-wing Pegasus (the Porsche collaboration Starfighter) and a Luxury Yacht 3000 (like Lando's Lady Luck) can briefly be seen on the landing pad.
