Fantastic reaction, as always! Loved it! The lyrics were written by the great bass player, Geezer (Terry) Butler, and the music was by the brilliant lead guitarist, the great Tony Iommi (eye-OWE-me). 1971! Both Geezer and Tony were raised Catholic, so Geezer's lyrics were always very Christian in their perspective.
Hello my 2 young friends! Yes, both of you. I saw this come up on my que and could not resist. I usally check out and sub to reactors that play one or more of my 3 bands I support of the now. This is and will always be my favorite 70s Era Black Sabbath album. I bought this in 1974 when I was 14. We called the genre Hard Rock. I love all music, studied classical at the Concervatory etc. This time frame you had Led Zeppelin, Grand Funk, and Alice Cooper to name a few. My favorite Alice Cooper album is Killer. A lot of reactors tend to say they cannot understand Ozzy, but younger Ozzy and 80s Ozzy I cam and did understand. Black Sabbath was very instrumental and had a real heavy dark sound. My favorite song of this Album is Sweet Leaf. My favorite Ozzy from 80s besides the Lita Ford duet is I'm Coming Home. Used to play it as I drove my Big Truck home after 4 to 5 weeks. Lol Love the reaction. Till next time. Peace. Stay safe. God Speed. 🍻❤️🌹🤘
@mikeg.4211 Hello my brother! I was born where Jack Benny was from Waukegan! Lived there till 1968 then my Stepfather got Stationed in Groton Connecticut till he retired in 1970, and moved to a very small town in upstate new York. I studied classical trumpet with Catskill Concervatory in Oneonta and went 2 years of college in Syracuse. Then I auditioned at West Point Band and played in the Army Band field for 8 years. Meet my wife in 1979 and in 2 months got married. Both in the Army at first. Was able to get stationed with the 4th US ARMY Band in Fort Sheridan (Highwood) and was able to show my wife where it all began. Lol I still love the Chicago area. I'm living near where my wife is from. Spokane. Where does the time go. Oldman rant! Lol🍻❤️🌹🤘
Geezer wrote this and most of the lyrics on the first 8 albums. Loving the great big smiles, funny how such down-tuned sludge makes people happy when it is executed perfectly.
🤟😛🤟THANKS FOR DOING SOME BLACK SABBATH GUYS ! I'V ENJOUED IT VERY MUTCH . CLASSIC ROCK IS JUST THAT , CLASSIC ! IT PAVED THE WAY FOR MANY OTHER BANDS TO EMERGE . IT WILL NEVER GROW OLD. ( UNLIKE ME ! HeHe ) A YOUNG AT HEART THANKING YOU AGAIN !😝
people were really freaking out over pollution in the early 70's, with good reason. companies were getting away with dumping toxic waste everywhere, including waterways. it got so bad that the cuyahoga river caught on fire in 1969.

Glad you enjoyed it, brother! I'm in your demographic all the way, haha! (Although around Chicago, we did call it heavy metal early on.)

Ozzy did not write the lyrics. Geezer Butler wrote almost all the lyrics on their first five albums.
