- In this episode of "The Appraiser," Colin has the privilege of looking at a 1969 Dodge Coronet Super Bee that is an all-original California-built car. Packaged with a 383ci V8 and a factory N96 air grabber hood, Colin thinks this to be an attractive car based on its unique color combo of high-impact F6 metallic green and black interior. But, original cars do come with flaws and Colin found a few in the rear end of the car. Will Colin have to break some bad news? Stick around and find out!

The only kind of car collectors that need to apologize are those that never drive them.
That’s why I respect Jay Leno so much, he always appreciates his old classics so much…ya just can’t fake it..
Lovely example and an honest driver… The N96 hood on a Dodge is called a Ramcharger. (Air Grabber was a Plymouth moniker)
My favorite part of the video is when he said she drives it all the time. THAT is what it's meant to do.... be enjoyed. 👍
Hopefully it was in Arizona.
@@milt6208 California.
True muscle car, and true muscle car enthusiast owner. They belong together and glad to see it. Thanks again for this series, greatly enjoy it. ~ Chuck
Knowledgeable and so damned polite! Colin is a true gentleman.
Found rubber up under the rear end? She is definitely doing it right
🇺🇸
'MURICA!
Awesome episode. Around 11 years ago now I bought a 68 Dodge Coronet from the original owner that had the car stored in the garage for over 15yrs. No accidents and extremely minor rust in a couple of the typical areas. The original dealership etc paperwork was all there including service records, and it’s pristine. It was a once in a lifetime find.
Pam is a cool cat. Great car and she looks after it. Good stuff.
I really hope you all told her about the rust as it needs dealing with now before it needs major surgery.
Perhaps she should watch the video.
Car lives in Cali. Shes Fine.
Sir - Tire rubber inside the rear fenders is how we rust-proofed them.
I have a 69 B5 Blue never been restored Bee with the 383 Magnum engine (proper term IS Magnum, not warmed-up), 4-speed, tic-toc-no tach, 3:55 gear, Sure-Grip, ramcharger package, side louvers. No longer all original as I recently upgraded to disc brakes from manual drum and added a Flaming River electric steering assist. I no longer have the strength to handle manual steering in tight quarters. Lived in the Midwest all my life but the Bee hasn't seen rain, snow, sleet, or salt since November of 1971 when I retired it from daily driving. Hibernates during winter and Spring's rains so only a bit over 52,000 mostly "fun" miles on the odometer. Stays in the garage if the chance of rain is over 10%. I do confess we're both showing our age a bit. Pam's beast is prettier but we've been together 53 years. Oh, and like Pam, I'm a girl. And my Bee is definitely a boy and the best car I have owned.
P.S. Pam, I do so like your F6 avatar. LOL
What a beautiful machine!!!
That was a fun one. Love these appraisals!
When I see all original in the title that’s what I’m expecting this car looks to have had a paint job and a few updates. The bottom edge of that quarter looked like Bondo work already too. Cool car and color regardless
Hum interesting Hagerty only values my 70 Road Runner at 37k. Mine is factory painted FJ6 Sassy Grass Green. A mid year option color. Numbers matching engine. Cars in that cars condition people asking 60-70k for.
One of my favorite Hagerty shows ! Wish there were more !!!
My kinda car, Love the AM tunes and no A/C. Rock on Colin!
I beg your pardon.. I lived in Kansas right outside of Kansas City. I had my1969 Super Bee for 10 years and it was no way a rust bucket. Mine had most of the same options as this one does. Unfortunately I sold it for $600 in 1979. The poor thing got t- boned about 6 months later and was sent off to the crusher
I had a 68 Coronet Super Bee. Black with white stripes on the tail. 383 automatic . Wonderful car that I foolishly sold at 60K miles. It was parked at a bar in WI and a drunk ran into it and totaled it out around’72. I love the taillights on a 68 Coronet
My brother used to have a '69 Superbee with a warmed-up 383, 4 speed, pistol grip shifter, Dana 60 rearend. I took it to 156mph. After a 440 transplant, he took it to 172. Wish I had it nowadays. His was that bronze/copper color with the black vinyl roof. He had the air grabber option with power steering but no power brakes.
Wow. I hope he had two miles to stop from 172.
@@ellieprice363 thanks, interestingly correct.
I wouldn’t sell it for $55k that maybe what it’s worth on the open market, but you mostly likely can’t ever buy it again and it’s super nice
My favorite car of all!
A friend of mine in the Navy had a orange one. We had lots of fun.
Hitting my midlife crisis, and finally being willing to expand my retirement investments to a classic car or two 😉, I've been trying to decide what 1969 car (the year that I was born) I want to start with. I would love to find something in this good of condition. Well done Pam. 😎
Mine is for sale if you're still looking and serious.
l remember when cars like these were new....Amazing Car...Thank you....Shoe🇺🇸
Should have done a burnout with that kind of title!!!👀😁
I did! 🤘Guess was cut in the edit?
Bummer would have loved to see it showing us what it was made for!!!!🤬
Beautiful example of the breed. Definitely a rare color as it was only offered late 69, and I believe was the best green offered on any Mopar. Glad to hear you drive it, otherwise what's the point
This car is identical to the fastest car in my high school. His was yellow. Great memories as you were going over the car!
Cool car. Love these videos. I hope you get to appraise the F40 some day!
I don't think I could drive that car hard every day and live very long. Hats off to she who can!
The only way to have a Super Bee, as a hardtop, with Ramcharger hood, Magnum 500's, buckets & console, and woodgrain steering wheel, as well as power steering, power brakes, and air conditioning. The only things missing are the side scoops, and exhaust tips. I see that the rear bumper seems to be slightly bowed inward in the center, but a beautiful Bee indeed! ✌️😏
Thanks! Wish I had AC on many days, yet something about no AC and old wind-wings is special too. Also, I hope the bumper bow was just weird lighting. Ha!🤘
Sorry, I don't mean to be nitpicky, It's just a pet peeve of mine to call Mopar road wheels magnum 500's . Up until 1968, Mopar did indeed use magnum 500's, but beginning in 1969 they were brushed centers with trim rings. These are the correct wheels for this car, so many people, even graveyard cars, install chrome magnum 500's when reproduction road wheels are available for Mopar's 69 up.(Correction, I'm not sure that Coker makes the repops after they purchased specialty wheel) however I agree with what you said, 4 speed would be plus.
Beautiful Mopar, and way cool owner, but good lord that M1 in the background 🤤
(not to mention the F40 and others)
love that color and the rubber bits in the 1/4 panels looks like she has been having some fun @4:17 wrong number sequence for a calif black plate 1969 was the end of the black plates this car should have X,Y,OR Z
With the ever expanding global push to reach Net-Zero by 2050, gasoline will likely become so expensive and hard to find that more and more people will wish that they had driven their cars when they still could easily do so like this owner is doing rather than stashing them away. Though I'm more of a sports car kind of guy, I can still understand and appreciate the appeal of this car.
Beautiful car and color. Drive em if you got em'.
I had the same color Super Bee bench seat 4- speed.
Worth...
Worth Owning...
Is always up to you...
Unique is always Mopar..
I daily driver 68 Dart Grandma special..
Not nice, but Panel gaps are Awesome.. California built , 2nd owner. My work is under the hood .. true daily.. 86k on my rebuilt 318swap from Slant6..
Beautiful colour 👍
Go Girl , Great Super Bee
Brother had a 440 dart. Fun car
Now those are some high dollar cars. Very few 440 Darts were made. Maybe 100? Not sure exactly but very few.
Thanks.. interestingly, my first new Car BUY:: 1970 CORONET 500/ Auto/PS/ PB: deluxeBLACK int/ Ralley Red/ 383/4 BBL:/ Dual EX.. some thoughts could use the SUPER BEE/& DIRECT CONNECTION parts to build up some, etc. ( many not work)…… Anyways: I went to **HEI, **Shocks, Monroe’s/ decent tires quick, BUT THAT 383 always seemed **extremely powerful, at least for some 15 plus years of driving !! I did pass , on a extra **Loaded 1970 Challenger 383/Magnum/ RTSE for the hot sounding Coronet500
You should do more of these
That’s one beautiful Mopar
Beautiful car!!!
That sound… 🤤
Ahhhh.. that great Mopar starter chirp.
Really love your vids..can you do a 77 celica restoration?
awesome!!
These are the kind of cars that gave 9 year old Luther heart palpitations.
Weird referring to yourself in the third person, but okay.
I like it.
Beeautiful!
Pretty sure rubber under the arches isnt from driving my friend, that's burnouts 😁🤘
Maybe we'll see the M1 one day
people don't realise how rust prone this cars are, it is woth 40k+ just because it is not rotten, never mind the colour and spec.
Vin #'s matching is really bad for legit and registered by the book performance shops when it comes to doing a rebuild. They can't legally remove that motor for a swap if it matches the chassis. That motor has to be rebuilt OR sent to "another" back woods shop to have the motor swapped out or removed.
She's guilty of having fun.
I love your videos I was wondering if your in Michigan? If so what city? My daughter is finishing her army training and I would love to bring her to your shop to possibly meet you guys.
Mine was a🏆 four-speed 🏆they're awesome don't sell it 👿 haunt you forever 🍀get R done 😎✌️
The question I ask is are you old enough to have seen these on the showroom? When I was 10 my dad was looking and I tagged along. And that was 53 years ago.
Just wish I could find a 67 Camaro SS. HELP this old Guard to find one.
Cars are supposed to be driven. Good on her.
My dream car that I will never be able to afford.
yo, you guys at hagerty ever gonna do a 3000gt vid?
👍
Anybody else notice the M1?
جميله باللون الاخضر
Beautiful car - & a family fav. I have a yellow & black 1991 Geo Metro LSi dressed up as a Super Bee: stripes, scoop, emblems & all. People get a great laugh out of it, 🤣🤣. It's probably the closest I'll ever get to the real thing 🤪.
This car in 2024 all matching at auction will hit 80 to 100 grand all day love it
Hell yeah, Mopar or No Car!
Now what am I gonna do with this POS 2010 F-150 with its 200K on it’s electronic ( Built Ford Tough ) dashboard every time I twist the key?
I guess I’ll keep towing the ( REAL ) fast car to the track with it…same as it ever was..
I grew up standing up in the back seat of a four speed Hemi Coronet though..We went to Beeline Dragway in Az ( Now Defunct ) every weekend.
They had some insane cars there, The Hurst Cuda’s and the Hooker girls in leather boots, but they weren’t actually hookers. Just pushing some excellent pipes..😛
Sure would be nice to see redline tires on her! But she looks like the one my brother bought new
I honestly though it was like a $80k Super Bee.
How much would it be worth with the rear quarters fixed? 100k? No, he hit it right on the money with his estimate
What I didn't like was one of the first things he mentioned was "high Impact" when referring to the color. the term high impact wasn't used by Mopar until 1970. He should (and maybe does) know that. Just makes him seem like less of an expert in my opinion.
I think he actually meant it was a (999) special order color and mistakenly mentioned high impact.
Was Super Bee a poor man's Charger back in the day? Genuine question.
Not sure what the sticker on each would be for a base model (around 3k) but with this one being heavily optioned, this would be well above a base optioned Charger.
Quick shoutout to Hagerty for telling me my rx7 wasn't really a collectible 2 years ago, to telling me it's worth more than basically 99.99% of muscle cars haha
Drive the living crap out of that beauty and just enjoy it. No fun in the garage.
I can see a couple of wallet's dueling that past $75,000 easy.
Sweeeettttt!
MOPAR OR NO CAR!
I say dont bother too much with originality unless its something sentimental or rare. Build it how you would have bought it and have fun. Definately be honest about it though, nobody likes a cheat.
👏nice car and nice lady.
Honestly I hate collectors who don’t drive their cars it’s almost a crime not too especially this car id drive the rubber clean off
Dude you gotta do a review on the 2022 Camaro LT1. Bought one this year, and it's drive is impressive for the money.
Why? It's a new boring car...
NOBODY CARES
I think 75 k is more like it and glad it's in America and driven and not somewhere in Europe being customized to oblivion
pam,, rr you married
not me.😁😁😊😊😉😉😁😁
That intro music is horrible. Start here @ 0:49 to avoid the audible pothole!
It's not worth as much as I thought it would be to be honest.
The collectors that drive the prices sky high only want the rare ones. The more common ones will start going up in price when the rare ones become unobtainium.
@@ekscalybur thanks
All she needs is 2 people with DEEP pockets who REALLY want to buy it and it will be worth more!
It's worth more to me.🤑
@@pamzam4097 I'm guessing you're Pam from the video. It was in no way an insult. I meant it as though I thought it would be worth more than it was. I would take that as a compliment for how well you're looking after it. Thanks for doing the video!
Those HORRIBLE tires are not original.
Ayo bro turn to Jesus Christ he loves all of us more than anything and he literally died for us. He took in the punishmrent for our sins thru suffering on the cross. It wasn’t cuz we deserved it, but cuz he loved us. 1 John 4:10 “This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” it was thru his love that he died for us and we can be forgiven
It's an automatic. What a waste of a beautiful piece of machinery. It deserves a manual transmission.
Not a total waste.🤘
What a childish, poor opinion. There's a variety of reasons to purchase an auto. Sure, manual is more fun, but there's a place for autos.
My GTX is automatic and it’s fine by me.
@@bigolow641 I'm sure that it is, but what an utter waste of a good car.
I bought one in 1979 rust free red white stripe black interior for $200 383 auto I never paid anything for it .I used it for the dirt never insured it I hid it from the cops for 15 years after a high speed chase never got caught my Street Car was a 70 Charger RT/SE 440 4s6 Dana 354 in 1980 the town prosecutor said I was uncatchable in the Charger
