1 of 40 "double" COPO Camaro and a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 | The Appraiser - Ep. 4
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 жов 2024
- On this episode of The Appraiser, it's jocks of the Class of 1969 as Colin Comer appraises a COPO 427 Camaro that’s so nice they named it twice and a shabby chic Mach 1 that has been upgraded into a true road warrior. The COPO has been with the owner since NEW, will Colin’s appraisal convince him to let it go? The Mach 1 has also been with its owner a lot of years and a lot of miles, but now the owner's son also shares time behind the wheel. Will it get passed down in the family or traded in for something newer? As always Colin has the answer to both of these questions.
So, watch along as Colin digs in to arrive at a value for both cars and shares them with us-and the owners. Will they agree with him? Will you? Sound off in the comments section and let us know!

Love this series. With the original owner or long term owner cars it would be cool to take a minute to hear some of their stories as well. Keep em coming! 👍
I agree!
Colin rules. He totally "gets" it. Kudos to Hagerty for everything they've been doing for the hobby.
Thank you!
@@colincomer4566 We may have met back when I was a VP at Shelby, but I bought your books!
@@jergervasi3331 ah yes I believe we did- at a new car reveal perhaps?
Yeah He’s The Best ,Wow He’s Real Car Guy, I Wonder How Many Shops He’s Worked In & How Many Engines He’s Built , How Many COPO Camaros He’s Worked. On & Tuned.. oh yeah he’s JUST AN APPRISER .. & Were Not Comparing Cars Were Just Looking At Them… that’s what I like about it it doesn’t have to make any sense whatsoever he just asked to talk about cars and that’s awesome never mind the Camaro is worth $500,000 or so and the Mustang is worth maybe 10,000 but really it’s a good appraisal? No if the Mustang was an all original 1969 It would at least be nice oh wait it is nice just the way it is all hacked up people make me laugh how about you
Colin is a gem. Please keep telling people to drive and enjoy their cars. I hate what Pebble/Quail has done and the disease is now spreading to regular cars like that BaT-sh*t crazy Integra.
Thank you! And, yes, if you won’t drive a car why buy it? 😁 Thanks for watching.
Really have been enjoying this series, please keep the great content coming!
Most people that have heard of COPO think all COPOs are special but the reality is most COPOs were used to build company fleet cars with possibly a special paint color to match the company logo, or to build taxis or other municipal vehicles. But there are a few special COPO, like this one. And two of my favorites COPOs were 9010 and 9738. Let’s see if anyone knows those two.
Awesome cars to cover. I'm a huge Ford fan and grown up in a Ford family. But added note to the COPO Camaro, late 60's had several dealers in to high performance, Grand Spalding, Nikey, etc. Today they are all gone, except Berger Chevrolet. Still family owned, still at 2525 28th st Grand Rapids, Michigan. They're still in to High performance. Awesome dealer. When the new Camaro came out in 2010 they restarted the prescribed power program.
American muscle from the 67-71 time period are just pure beauty 😍 would love to own some of em one day.
Love both of these cars. Amazing original owner COPO Camaro! Just curious, what upgrades are included in the "sports car conversion" option? Also love the Mach 1. It has a great weathered but functional look that I wouldn't change. Fun car.
140mph speedo and beefier/heavy duty suspension
COPO 9737 consisted of:
- 140-mph speedometer
- 13/16” front stabilizer bar
- E70-15 tires on "YH" rally wheels (same wheels used on the Z/28)
@NovaResource I believe the Z28 also had an 8000 rpm tach. Big block cars did not as seen here.
This is the best episode yet. Both these cars embody their family history to their owners, making them irreplaceable, no matter what their physical value. Very cool.
This is a great no bullshit show. I love it.
nuff said… agreed
Hagerty at it again with amazing content. Would definitely enjoy hearing some more stories or hearing the owners speak a bit more. Love hearing the history on specific cars.
Two absolutely great cars!! I'm a Camaro lover so, it's my favorite and the one I'd want! Mustang fastbacks from the sixties are the best looking and this one with a Trans Am racer style is COOL.👍👍
my favorite new show on utube
Kevin said he bought the car on 12/24/1969 and the cowl tag has a build date of 05C (3rd week of May, 1969). So this car sat on the lot for quite a long time.
Still a beautiful car that was obviously lovingly taken care of well.
There's a backstory as to why it sat at Berger for a few months. Kevin can tell it if he chooses but it's a cool story too.
@@radmeon Love to hear it. Maybe Colin can do a follow-up.
Hagerty strikes again with best in class automotive content and journalism
Very cool. Both of these cars are right in my wheelhouse. My showroom bought sweetheart was a 70-1/2 Z/28 Camaro. Good memories.
This is my area of interest....the 60's and 70's musclecars. Keep posting, and I'll keep watching.
Colin saw you race your Mustang this year at Road America, very impressive.
Good man. He drives it but also loves it.
I love this series too. Both are cool. Drive them and enjoy them. Especially on the Mach 1. Shiny paint isn’t going to make the driving experience any better.
Yeah shiny on a well restored car does make it drive better & look better ..They’re comparing a $500,000 very rare Camaro with a hacked up freaking Mustang you people suck and everybody clap your hand and say how great it is in your fucking millennial world this is the stupidest appraisal is that what we’re calling it because we’re not comparing the car is that wouldn’t be right you can’t compare a Mustang and Camaro oh wait yes you can how about a boss mustang in a couple Camaro now you have a comparison or a Shelby mustang in this Camaro anonymous thing that came out of some guys garage that’s all hacked up you people suck I’m just gonna leave this alone
Great job again, Colin! Kevin is a good guy too (as you know). Love what you are doing here. Say hi to the family, too!
This is a fantastic series. Really well done. I wish it was a little longer and went into a little more detail. Keep them coming.
I do believe I'm starting to enjoy this show.
Ok, now I have three Hagerty shows to follow: Davin, Tom and Colin!
Now, if only I could talk Hagerty into recruiting Jerry Heasley.... *hint* *hint*
- Ed on the Ridge
Thank you!
Had the same Mach 1 as a 1970, without power steering. It was a beast to parallel park and you would squeeze the rim-blow steering wheel making the horn go off when parking. They ditched that steering wheel and added PS on this one.
Colin is GREAT. Love the channel!!!
Love The Hagerty Channel. You have so many great shows that all car guys should appreciate.
These two cars are amazing dream condition cars for the average guy who really wants to get in and drive them. With the prices these cars are worth these days I commend the owners that are actually driving these things every once and a while.. wish I could afford either one of these but being a disable guy all I can do is watch and dream.
I prefer Bowties but that Blue Oval is perfect. Especially if they left the original heads. A street 351 doesn't need the 4Vs. Those 2Vs flow plenty with a 4bbl.
I love this new series. And I love both of these cars. I saw a nice 69 Mach 1 Mustang on the road yesterday. I was on my way to an appointment so I didn’t have time to ask the guy if I could check out his car.
the stang looks like frieburger's
Man I love these videos with the guys that have owned them since they were new. Could you imagine walking down to a dealership and buying the equivalent today at say 21?? I mean it's possible but you'd have to have a pretty good job and your credit set up from a young age. Back then it seemed a lot easier. I always wonder what they did back then to afford it.
I imagine them coming back from the military, getting a mustang or a camaro, getting a hot momma to go on your honeymoon with... Man that sounds like the life right there.
I already know there isn't a price he would take for that Copo.
This is a cool series!! Loved the ‘69
This is a really cool series. Keep it up and the views will come.
I'd rather have a double stack open element air filter. It actually produces more power than CAI. Put the original in the trunk.
Imagine a clear coat on that Mustang to save the patina. It would be amazing.
Hagerty hands down has some of the best automotive content on UA-cam. Well done and keep up the incredible work!
both are awesome but the Mach 1 has a bit of a grunge charisma to it, and the mods really fit. It gives you the freedom to make another change or two, and you can put a scratch or two in it without crying.
At the Copo, copo camaro, music and passion were always in fashion !
8:05 min
I would make a clause in the Testament "that can't sell the car, and the most responsible person would get it" (😂😂😂)
No kidding!
This is something special!
And you would sell it maybe to get out of a catastrophic personal situation (but only for a house or something as worthy as this car)!
Great videos! I love to see appraisals. Look forward to more.
Hagerty is killing automotive content right now keep up the excellent work between this and Jason Camisa I am loving what you guys do!
Although I'm NOT a GM or Chevy fan, given the facts of that Camaro's extreme rarity & most importantly it's a ONE OWNER car, I'd put it's value $500k minimum & if it were to go to auction, like Barrett-Jackson which is happening now, wouldn't surprise me to see it bring a million dollars.
As for the 69 Mustang, that car should never be sold for the sole fact, it'll always be that young man's connection to his Dad.
NOT TO MENTION ITS NOT WORTH $10.000 really.. &And I didn’t even watch the video I stopped when they said they took the original motor out for some reason or another I really couldn’t pay attention to it because I thought it was just a silly silly two cars to put side-by-side but everybody go on and keep telling everyone how great it is and how wonderful everyone is and how great it is and everyone gets a gold medal
@@donaldleavy4379 Well... it's possible I could be incorrect but IMHO your comment means you're NOT a car person. The market dictates how much things are "worth", especially with collector cars. I could go on & on with stories but that Mustang @ MINIMUM would bring $30k, but more like at least 50, either for a buyer who'd want to do a full correct restoration or a buyer who'd look to build a restomod/Pro-Touring car. Have a Blessed weekend.
@@Vampirebear13 Yeah Well I Think IF & That’s a Pretty Big If.. rolled out across Barrett Jackson see if it Fetches 25 grand.. Keep Makin It Up As You Go Along..And the reason for that being is think about what it really would take to bring it back to original condition you could buy one in original condition for the money it would take to put that one back in that’s why the car really doesn’t have that much value OK now I know I don’t know what I’m talking about but please go on with your story
@@Vampirebear13 I’ve owned Owned More mustangs Then you’ve seen pictures of… Including A 70 Boss 302 Car.. Didn’t Have The Original Eng. Though..& Guess What My Brother Had a 69 MACH 1 351 W 2bbl,,Maroon.. It Was A Jewl…Please Tell Me More..And if you roll it across the auction block which I know that’s not gonna happen and I’m not saying it’s not a nice car either but make sure you tell the sad story that goes along with it and see how much it’s worth here’s a hint it’s not worth anything because it means something to someone else sorry I know in the millennial world we all get a gold medal but I’ll say it again comparing the car next to a COPO Camaro it doesn’t compute
@@donaldleavy4379 Save your pissy remarks for the kiddies.
I spent 32 years in the car business & have forgotten more car stuff than most who consider themselves "car people" will ever know.
And that's on top of having owned and/or driven every brand of car made, short of Koeneigsegg & Dallara.
But back to my point, when I was doing repo in the mid 90's, we'd take cars to auction & I'd see $50k vehicles sell for $3k & $1000 vehicles sell for $12k.
A car/truck is "worth" whatever a person's willing to pay. PERIOD.
Also while I'm at it, a few months ago, I met a guy from San Diego who drove across the country to buy what was left of a 1969 Mustang SCJ 428 Drag Pack, for $12,000.
It'd been sitting in a field for decades & really all that was left was the shell, from the firewall back.
Was rusty as hell, of course. No motor or driveline. He was going to drop it off @ a Mustang restoration specialist in Arizona or Oklahoma on his way home @ a cost of at least $100k
But he didn't care how much it cost, because he felt it was a significant car that was important to be saved.
And just think, he could've bought a fully restored, numbers matching 428 SCJ Drag Pack car for less than $80k.
And in closing, I've either owned or driven EVERY model of Mustang since 1964.
I grew up on GM cars, mostly Oldsmobiles & that's what made me a Ford person.
I restored a 67 GTO for Kevin. Hes a hell of a nice guy. Has a newer model copo Camaro also.
Colin is awesome except for making me regret selling some earlier cars I owned.
great series. All us car peeps are luvin’ it! Dude knows his bleep!
Now can ya do a 69 427 L-36 all Original with 54K on it for me! haaa!
I’d be honored to!
@@colincomer4566 but you gotta come to Maine to look at! ha only catch!
Btw Its Cortez Silver with gunmetal interior 4sp.
All numbers matching. never been pulled apart.

always loved
Great series! Nice, that episode consists of great car with price tag below 6 figures. That will attract broader society. Good example of 10k hobby car appraiser, like C4 Vette, would be awesome to see.
Wow that Camaro is something Special 🍻
The Copo is too cool. The Stang FastBack is a cool one that looks like a Old School Track Car. 😎👍🇨🇦
The Cobra R in the backround.....thank you for videos ! Subscribed a while back :)
Both cars are cool AF! Love that the owners want to keep them-they have soul. Not like our modern appliance cars.
Love that the COPO camaro guy pulled the ole, My car ran out of gas routine on his new wife!
This is a great series. Keep is going, plz. Two great cars. I have to think that the 50K price would be a no brainer on BaT for that Mach 1.
my guy is very lucky that mach 1 is so damn sweet
Beautiful Camaro!!!! 👍👍👍
Mustang all the way!❤
At first I thought that was Freiburgers Mustang
Lol, I thought the same thing...
I thought, from everything I’ve ever read, that no COPO car was ever an X11 car?
At first i thought that mustang was frieburgers car
Does Frieburger have a teenage son?? I thought the same thing! LOL!
Yup, wonder if David had seen this car and was inspired to create the Disgustang?
@@AcesNtheEND maybe he does because that car looked very much like the disgustang
@@marcnews75 IIRC, Freiburger rescued the disgustang from a junkyard in 2017. This Mach 1 has been in the family for 25 years, so can’t be the same car. Looks very similar though.
@@marcnews75 Frieburger and I suppose this guy as well, took the car's styling cues from Mickey Thompson's Bonneville work with the Mach 1.
Owner of COPO Camaro paid $4185 in 1969. That's the equivalent of roughly $33k in 2022 when you factor in inflation rate. You got more performance/value for your money back then!
I’ve been pronouncing “ Ber-Jer “ wrong for 35 years !!!!
Damnit !!
*When you see these kinds of cars completely refurbished it’s hard to believe they’ve been on the streets longer than you’ve been alive.*
2 really nice cars.
When men were men...with MANUAL transmissions!!!
Great episode really enjoyed listening to it
Never stop driving..
Keep these coming!
In today’s crazy market the Camaro is worth a half a million on a good day at auction
I have had my 69 mach 1 for 30 years,no plan to let it go. As for the white camaro 2 dollars and 50 cents may be a little high.
I like Camaro 69. Very good. 🔥🔥🔥🔥👊🤠
That Mustang has its own video on Petrolicious.
I'm a little surprised he didn't mention why the steel wheels on the Mustang are painted that color.
250k seems low...that is a gnarly beast.
Had to do a double take on the Mustang, thought it was David Freiburger’s Disgustang
I want the mustang!!!
these guys have driven the price of these cars so high that no one can own one ,not your average hot rodder that would love to own a piece of history ,only the super rich or the COLLECTOR ,that has bottomless cash can own these cars ,just saying ,i have a couple that my son will get to enjoy when hes older .love those old muscle cars .....
That looks just like David Friebergers Mustang, The Disgustang, which I thought it was, and why I clicked. I bet this kid talked his dad into those wheels after he saw them on roadkill.
Actually the dad put those wheels on years ago, long before DF had the Disgustang, in homage to the 1969 Mach 1s that Mickey Thompson set 295 records at Bonneville with. Give it a Google and you'll see. Thanks for watching!
I can dig it!
COPO is ultimate sleeper, what a bargain this car is even today 7 litre with 425hp for 31,000 would be a bargain. Mach 1 cool also
I wish I kept my 69 Mach 1 mustang beautiful car.
Love the V8 Camaros.
Super nice cars.......
You should make a 454ss 1990 truck documental
cool episode
these are great
wish I could keep my GT86 for 30 - 40 years and pass it down to my son but it has a subaru engine..
Ok question, when I was in prison watching the sequential serial number zr1 Cameron go for 250 k is that different then the cops? Or are those included into the copo yenko camaros?
Oh and I haven't watched till the end, but isn't that David frieghburgers Mach one. ... well maybe I should quit drinking and watch till the end
What watch is that? Sorry to not ask about the cars lol
I was definitely born in the wrong Era. But at least I'll never sell my 1970 Pontiac Firebird and 1989 Chevy Camaro RS 🤘 💪
Where's the tailpipes on the Mach 1?
That COPO is a #3??? Looks way nicer than that to me.
31k in todays money for 427 engine with 425HP!!!
Really liked the Mustang ....but the wheels.........could of at least painted em black.....
It's a tribute to Mickey Thompson's Bonneville Mach 1 cars.
@@jimt9661 ahh righto taa 👍

6:29 I wonder how much oil that Camaro burns?
I am 21 and I don't even have money to buy a Lolipop
Just imgine getting a powerhouse of a car instead of a base model toyota yaris for 30k
These intros are getting more and more dramatic. I'm waiting for one to have a cut of Colin getting tackled by the owner after he announces an unfavorable price.
A guy my age could break a hip from one good tackle. Could I just run away instead?
Nobody is paying $45-55k for the mustang. I can understand the evaluation on the COPO bcuz it’s a clean 1 owner car but the Mach 1 is a dime a dozen
And you can't register a copo for street use. It's a factory built drag car only.
That’s 100% incorrect. You absolutely can register them for street use.
Not copo
Camaro shouldn't be rated less than that mustang :0 It's atleast 4!
i wouldn't pay $250 for that thing
Mark Hassett of Ashtabula Ohio has a copo. It's really not very impressive. There's no way any American muscle car should be worth those figures. It's all inflated.
I bet if the COPO/COPO rolled through Mecum it would blow that $250k out of the water. I wouldn't touch that Mustang for half of hid lowest appraisal price, too much obvious rust showing.
