- 1970 Dodge Super Bee 440 6-Pack Muscle Car Of The Week Video #21
This 1970 Dodge Super Bee is not the car you want to drive if you don't like attention. This Top Banana Yellow example from the Brothers Collection is not only visibly noticeable thanks to the bright color and white interior and stripes, but the 440 6-Pack under the hood causes a stir on the street anywhere you go!

Some people don't like the front end of the 70 Super Bee and Coronet R/T but I think they look great.
I actually really like the 70 Coronet R/T/Super Bee nose. I would've bought a Super Bee instead of a Roadrunner in 1970 just for that reason even though they are essentially the same exact car other than that
This is my favorite muscle car. 70 Bee has the best & meanest looking design ever. Who ever designed the 70 Bee was a freak'n genius. & the 68 Charger.
@@metalmopars what about 1971 super bee in red and black
*orange70383* Well, "some" people are weird ;)
*Metalmopars* said it best above. Mean and gorgeous!
My favorite year Bee!
Coolest story and upgrades out of all the episodes. Back then they knew how to have fun. Salute to old school Dodge engineers
When I was 19 in 73', I had a 440-6 SuperBee, mine had the power bulge hood, I believe not many of them around, mine was a 727 column shifted, Dana60 with 4:10's, power front discs, buckets, no center console, full insterments, go-wing, chin spoilers, red with black "Bumblebee stripe, the hood was flat black and the bulge was left red, looked really cool. I liked having the L60's fit right in the wheel wells, skinny front tires. Mine did not like going around corners! I have pictures but don't know how to put them on here. Wish I still had it. 😞 I'm now driving a 69' Swinger 340 4spd. Fun to drive, but wish I had the "Bee"!
My neighbor has a '70 Super Bee. It's a Six-Pack console 4-speed car, and it's an animal. With 4:30 gears and slicks it runs high elevens/low twelves at around 116 mph in full street trim. What a beast!
I want to have cool neighbors one day...
Fuel-injected engines are really nice today but you just can't beat the old carb engines in muscle cars when they're tuned right they run and that Ram air system you could hear it when I used to have my duster you can hear it sucking the air in what a sound
I had a 1970 Coronet R/T 440 Magnum in 1974 when I was a junior in High School. I only paid $1100 for it. I was in Auto Mechanics Voc Tech, so I installed what was equivalent to one of the Scat Packages on it myself. I had an Edelbrock intake, Holley 850 double-pumper carb, Hooker Headers, and Accel ignition, but stock cam and valve train. Even with a Torqueflite auto trans (with a "shift kit") and a 3:73 rear end, with Mickey Thompson fat tires on the back it even caught rubber going from second the third and was practically unbeatable on the street. I though it was pretty ugly though, because it was "Plumb Crazy" purple with a white stripe around the tail and had white bucket seats with a console and black carpet. My mom sold it for $1000 after I went in the Air Force! Wish I still had that car!
I fell in love with this ride years ago!! Still love it !!!
I still have my 70 Cornett 500 big block. A 1 year only body style and beautiful driving cars
Very underappreciated classic - extremely fast. A real sleeper.
To me this is not even close to a sleeper u look at it n hear it and means business lol back when American cars had beautiful lines
Gorgeous Super Bee 440 6-Pack!!! Gotta love an all white interior!!!
What you can learn from dedicating a few minutes. I've just learn a lot of things from this particular video.
Kevin Oeste you're truly a connoisseur.
Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed the video!
My Stepfather had a 1970 Super Bee in Plum Crazy with white interior. It was a 383 automatic and the seats were regular with adjustable headrests. I got to drive it 2 times when I got my license before he traded it for a 1972 Chrysler Newport Custom. I hated that he traded it and he does too.
I'm in love! Wow, what a car... I love the way you drive some of these cars, I can't believe your allowed to open them up a bit and do a bit of a burnout. Very enjoyable watch, thank you very much for sharing with us all.
just love these MC videos. They're so informative and the host is top notch.
I keep waiting for him to "slip up" and mis-speak... Still waiting.
Oh, it happens!
@@MuscleCarOfTheWeek When was that? Probably too long ago to remember...lol....
Dodge Coronets where so under appreciated until all the Chargers and Road Runners got smaller up by collectors. I love the look of this 70 model with its distinctive grill and “coke” bottle-box styling. What is there not to love??
Wow what a great great episode I graduated in 76 in Boise Idaho everybody had some kind of bad ass car I didn't I didn't I had a mercury, but it didn't matter because we all had a good time
Those times are definitely in the past we didn't know how good we had it
Cool history about the Scat Pack and catalog.
Love that one year only front end!
Me too. The Coronet R/T/Super Bee is my favorite 1970 Mopar...other than a Hemi Cuda coupe. Love the nose of the 70 Coroner R/T/Super Bee. The Roadrunner/GTX looked almost just like the 68-69 models
My favorite model too, besides 69 charger
Back then cars changed every year
My 70 had a single scoop in the center of the hood. Then put it in a neighbors garage and tool every nut and bolt we could take off from front to back top to bottom. 1 year later fired up almost 500 hsp Beautiful hot rod .
Had a plum purple one. My best friend had a brown one at the same time. Still dream of it . Love the aggressive stance.
Aaaaah the memories I had a 1970 Dodge coronet 440 a monster of MC
Tic-Toc Tach, pistol grip shifter, and the ram charger hood. My favorite look for the superbee 🐝
B-b-b-bad! Bad to the bone! Had a friend out of high school that had a '70 Super Bee and that car had torque that wouldn't quit. Even IF someone got the jump on him, that brute 440 would catch them by the 1/8th mile mark, almost every time. My cam'd '67 Mustang w/ a 289 four barrel and 3:90 gears could beat him to that 1/8th mile, but he'd fly on by me every time I tried. Fun times!
Dodge, plymouth, Chrysler always made the coolest looking cars with crazy performance
Maybe I was misinformed, but I always though that the Super "Bee" was meant to pay homage to the "B" body platform: as in Super "B" body.
That's were it came from he says it at the end
The idiot light at the bottom of the dash was not for oil pressure. It was a REVERSE GEAR indicator for 4-speed equipped cars. GREAT VIDEO OVERALL!!!
David miorgan That’s correct David. Had a ´72 Duster Daemon, and that amber light illuminated when you geared the reverse correctly
@David Miorgan I mean, if you put your head down there and read, you will see the word "REVERSE" on it. I should know, every Mopar 4-speed I ever owned, including the Road Runner in my garage, had one.
Lol
Thanks ! I had a 70 Roadrunner and was thinking that I did not remember any such idiot light...just the guages. You cleared up that mystery for me!
Subscribed, not many sites show this many Mopars. Really miss the 69 Coronet R/T.
My neighbor has a '70 Super Bee Six-Pack 4-speed car. He's updated it with headers and 4:30 gears in the Dana 60. It runs high 11's at around 119-120 on slicks in full street trim. What an animal! It absolutely liquefies street tires, and is a complete kick in the ass to drive.
When I watch this show its amazing how many cool cars the big 3 put out in the 60s and early 70s that being said I would have to say dodge was at the tippy top when you see how many cars and how cool there cars were its my opinion that dodge was king of the muscle cars even today
The Dodge Super Bee 1970 the best muscle car of the world.
This was a true muscle car in 1970
Thanks. Nice Burn-out. The 'top banana" yellow paint really pops. It looks like it's a half an inch thick. wow. Aside from these surface observations, I learned some thngs, too, about the Scat Pack Club and kits and packages. You always have an interesting little story or bit of history that makes things so much more interesting.
what a beautiful classic car
Super Bad Ass!! Since I was a kid I always thought the 1970 Super Bee was so awesome and even now that I'm older I still think that they are
great videos , no silly cheese metal soundtrack , or lame rapid editing, just great shots, awesome information given in a calm rational manner, cheers!
MOPAR was the Bees Knees back then . I was only age 10 in 1970 , but I knew the cool Muscle and Richard Petty lol!
Beautiful car. Super BEE was created because they were "super" B Body cars.
that's a bad ass taxi cab
Kevin you you speak so much information about the cars and all that's why I like listening to you
I was a member of the "Scat Pack". I also bought the red jacket with all the trimmings. My Challenger used to eat CHevy's and Hemi's for breakfast. Yenko's? No problem.
What do you mean by eat? That it went faster for a few feet? What was in your Challenger? You might have taken the hemi's in the 1/8 mile, but no way in the 1/4. Your Challenger might have been faster off the line but once that hemi got wound up it would be goodbye Challenger. But I do believe you spanked those Yenko's.
All the goodies, 440 six pack engine, ramcharger air grabber, menacing dual hood scoops, pistol grip shifter, tic toc tac, bucket seats, wild 1970 color, Great mopar
when he said "big fat tires and everything" i automatically heard Ian Gillan singing highway star!
The car companies started making their cars, especially the muscle cars more aggressive looking, including the front ends throughout the '60's! 1970 was the beginning of the end with the MoPars, Mustangs and Mercurys! GM started to tame their looks down in 1970! The 1970 bee wing bumper/grilles were matched in back with their tail,brake/backup lights in smaller proportions on the Coronet and Super Bee, but altered with the Coronet 500 and R/T! And you can call the special paint "Psychedelic Rainbow of Colors"! And then, you ad the Mod Tops and interiors to the mix! The music and the cars from back then...!
Olias Of Sunhillow Plumb Crazy?
@@thomasbaker1961, I always thought a yellow Super Bee with a black interior and black bumblebee stripes to match the colors of the bumblebees and yellow jackets! Did you ever see the original 1969 Dodge Yellow Jacket concept car!
That's a gorgeous Super Bee 🐝..440 six pack.. Chrysler had it Goin on back in days.. Iconic Mopars 👍💥
Too cool. Amazing model from the good ol days.
Have a 69 super bee F6 green 440 six pack block with a edelbrock cam and lifter both roller nicest car I ever owned about 480 HP
Beautiful car. Thank you.
I always loved the wraparound bumpers of the late 60,s and early 70,s.
They are cool. Not something you'd see today!
I had an Orange 383magnum 727 Bee. Hands down THE BEST CAR I EVER OWNED ... and I've had a LOT of all kinds of cars.
The Tic-Tock-Tac... one of the coolest options ever.
Back when cars were bad-ass right out of the factory!
Gotta love those B Body Mopars
One of my favorite Mopars is the 70 Superbee they are sweet
I had one. Mine was metallic green with a black strip in the back and a black interior. Same 440 6 pack and so much fun to drive especially when the corroborators kicked in!
LUV the colour!! Great piece. Thanks.
In the late 80's I had a chance to pick up a very similar car, the exception was it was a convertible! It had the big 440 engine. He wanted just a click over $10G's so I offered him $9,500. He said he'd take the weekend and think about it. I called him on Monday and the car was sold. Still kick my ass because it was well cared for and only had 70+ miles on it...and it was a convertible to boot!
The ones that got away...
That one really hurt because I should have just given the 10g's instead of trying to get the edge. If I only had 9,500 it would have been a diferent story, but I could have afforded the 10 he wanted....and the car was beautiful, damb it!
I had a chance to buy a 69 Mach 1 SCJ 4 speed in 88 for 3K. I didn't buy it. Blue original. Kick my ass too
Always loved my front bumpers , just learned about the Bee wings...cool..
Right on!
I really like the 1970 Dodge Super Bee Coronet 440-6 4 speed.
Thank you for all of these!
Love this channel, very well produced and hosted
Central California watching
Thanks for the kind words!
I didn’t want this video to end! Excellent video. Badass car. I LOVE the front end on the 1970 super bee. Only split bumper I’ve seen that actually looks great.
love the look of this car and it's drive train but if i was there back then with money , i would have had the black tail stripe. that would have been a better looking bee.
With wider tires in the back.
@@metalmopars Your right. Not a day two thing but straight from the dealer on day one. My weakness for this model is understandable since my family name in english is bumble bee.
I write it here but the reference goes to all of your episodes: This is so cool! I started from episode 1 and will watch all the episodes made. I'm a 1/64 model car collector and it's thrills me to watch the cars in real. It's a pity that you can't test drive them for the episodes.
Tell ya what I haven't seen in years is a GTX,I rode in a new one in late 1969, it was Soo, cool, I was an 18 year old Nerd back then, and, I bought a black over red Plymouth Duster 225 off show room floor, sitting right next to it was 1970 Super Bird, price was $5576.00, I could kick myself for passing THAT up to but, now I am 70 yrs old!
Great Job Kevin. Thanks Bro.
That's what I like about muscle cars in the engine compartment all engine nothing necessary you don't need
The bro’s have the coolest muscle cars collection 👍👍
My favorite car.
Very nice 6 pak too luv it
Both my Brothers had 70 bees i had a 71 Called us the super bee bro's 😄
Top quality video's from you guys! LOVE THIS CHANNEL!
I had one in 87 a 70 ( 383 car ) 440 hp2 727 3.91 yellow, black int bench & top no stripe. Paid 1750 & didnt have to do anything to the car. Just gas & go. I loved the pass side floor vent when you had a girl in the car pull it open over 35 mph & watch her skirt fly right back lol.
Verry nice car.!!
Those where the day , when We'll go drag race throug Arlington Tx, On Cooper St, And not that much red lights,And through 360New York Comeing back 2 Ft Worth,😆
And Out Run the police, pull In some in some place and turn off youer lights.😅👍🙏
I was a member of the "Scat-Pa" club and had the jacket and all the goodies because I had a 1970 Challenger R/T 440+9 Pak
In 1975 I had a 1969 Dodge Super Bee Coronet with the 383 Magnum with the 4 speed Qball shifter. I bought in for $800 in very good condition I never took to the looks of the 1970
You did an excellent job on this video. Very well explained, informative and interesting. Your voice is low keyed which is relaxing. The information describing the super bee was new to me and the matching car colors unique. My Mae for,it is Super Beautiful.
Fell in love the super bee as a kid this baby the 70 should've been called a wasp
I had a 70 Coronet 500 that I bought during the gas crisis of 79 for $500. The previous owner traded it in for a Vega, what a moron. 383 727 and every option Dodge had. I drove that car every day for years and didn't have to do anything to it and it was very fast.
Best channel on UA-cam. Keep up these great videos!!!
I bought one in Jacksonville NC in 1970 right off the showroom floor in green. changed the carbs in NY to a six pack a 3/4 race cam and a port and polish . The car left the ground when I hit 2nd gear.and ate big block corvettes all day long no sweat.
Still running a Road Runner 6 bbl and i have to agree. Have 13 track championships in 24 years. 6 of the others were Super Bees And R/T CORONET 440s. The other 5 were 3 chevelles and 2 Buick STAGE 1s.
@@soxfunny98 Damn dude, you have had the cream of the muscle car crop. Road Runner, Super Bee, Coronet R/T, Chevelle, and Stage !. The only thing you missed was the Charger. You're probably building one now, huh? And so smartly stayed away from any Ford's.
@@cincyspin178
Hey man, thanks A lot.
I must have wrote it wrong.
I'll tell you again what I have for muscle cars ok? Sorry I made you take it that way.
1) 69 A-12 ROAD RUNNER 440-6 PACK RUNS 8.89. THERE IS A MASSIVELY MASSAGED\BUILT 426BKDL XXX
2) 1970 CHARGER RT/SE 44O MAGNUM.(10.04)
3) 1970 DUSTER 340 RUNS 10.26
4) 2019 REDEYE FASTEST STOCK TIME I have run, only made 6 passes so gsrd
@@soxfunny98 Well now you got me real confused. Why did you mention those other cars, the Chevelles and the Super Bees and the Buick Stage 1? And if your RR is an A12 with the 440-6 (yes that's correct) then what do you mean by "there is a massively massaged 426? That's a hemi and it's different from a 440. And what do you mean by BKDL XXX? (By the way, I was going to ask if the RR was A12 , but I deleted it) Are you some kid making up stories for the internet?.
@@cincyspin178 You ready??
Before the 1960's , racing cars used color and numbers to differentiate themselves from each other. The colors used on regular vehicles were much more subdued and less "dramatic". As the muscle car era grew, so was the need to broadcast a vehicle its racing "heritage". Hence you'd hear the term "racer red", "racer orange", "racer yellow" etc....loud and proud baby!
Super A...B...C... whatever. Super car and video!!! Keep feeding us gear heads, you guys do a great job!
I want to spray paint yellow my Dodge D 100 and put a Super Bee decal on rear quarter panel now. 318 cid does quarter mile under a minute.
Beautiful car 🚗
WOW, MY DAD USE TO HAVE ONE BUT IT WAS RED. BACK THEN UFF THAT BABY USED TO FLY .
Super Bee is bad ass
My absolute favorite year for this car. Just so damn aggressive.
Great job!!!
I really like the Dodge Coronet Super Bee 440-6 4-speed
I guess you can say I am lucky enuff to remember when musclecars were an everyday occurrence as they roamed the streets looking for the next street race. Not only that back then people were Hotrodding anything with a V8 and 4 wheels. Not everyone could afford a brand new factory racer so they put together what they could get. Some of them were not fast at all but they played the game by sticking cragar rims on and adding glass pack mufflers which made any V8 sound good.
Super Sweet !!
Had the exact car, except a different hood, my 71 Bee had the Ramchargers Air Grabber, bad azz!
71' was the "Charger" SuperBee.
WOW!!! NICE RIDE!!!
The 68 charger was my favorite
Beautiful Mopar!
The Super Bee came out half way through the q1968 model yesr.
It was priced $500 higher than the Roadrunner, with an upgraded interior (carpet instead of a rubber floor cover) and a Rally dash from the Charger.
It also had the option for $15 of a viscous fan with a fan shroud that was available in the Roadrunner without air conditioning.
The reason a high percentage of Super Bees have manual transmissions, in the Dodge R/T manual required the expensive Track Pack or Super Track Pack, while in the Super Bee it was no extra cost.
The Roadrunner was $500 cheaper and attracted those that would save money and want an automatic transmission.
For the price of the Super Bee an automatic R/T with a 440 could be had, so automatic wasn't so popular in the Super Bee, because for the money a larger engine could be had for those that wanted an automatic and that became more popular for the R/T.
Awesome car!!!
I love the 60's/70's fonts they used for the Logo!
The Super Bee is my favourite car. I really wish I could have one.
owned 2 wm23's both were running, driving fun cars under 5 grand.
Kevin another car that will turn heads very sweet ride
i had one in the early 80's but with the molded hood and a auto with the bench seat i ran it at the drag strip i was not ever beat (the 440 had been reworked by my uncle) it held several records for a while also
Oh i believe you!! Im 53, racing still and have 13 championships with a 6.bbl Runner.
