What do you put in YOUR kids lunch?
@mamabairds I have 2 granddaughters one is in kindergarten she likes to pack her lunch and sometimes she eats the schools lunch. I get lunchables, cookies, Doritos, fruit cups, applesauce squeeze pouches, granola bars, pb sandwich it's hard to get ideas for packing lunches but if we all share our kids or grandkids lunch box idea would be fun
I also put a juice box in the lunches too apples bananas grapes etc
My kids were in school in the 80's. They always got a sandwich, chips of some kind, cookies or fruit, juice boxes and Capri Sun pouches. Old school! As they got older they started eating lunch at school because they had salad bars and burger bars... Nothing healthy for sure except the salad bar which my daughter loved! The rest was pizza, burgers, hotdogs, and french fries...times have definitely changed to much healthier choices! Loving all your storage things! Awesome! Thanks for sharing, Carolina! 🥰
Always looking forward to seeing your videos
Glad you like them!
Hi Carolina. A tip about cheese. If you use a strong/mature/sharp, all different names for the same thing, instead of the mild, you will use less of it. Obviously if a recipe calls for a specific type or strength then go with that, but if you are just using it for the flavour, like in mac & cheese then using less of the stronger cheese gives a very similar taste to using more of the mild.
Much love and respect from Jo in the South East of England. xxxxx
One of my kids favorite was I put a go gurt in the freezer the night before and sent it the next morning. They loved it !!!!
Idea: Bananas- take them apart and lay them individually on a tray , not touching each other. If some start going too mushy, stick them in a freezer bag in the freezer. The skins just peel off when defrosted leaving mushy banana for baking or smoothies. When you have three frozen make a batch of banana muffins-use your hand mixer to get the mushy defrosted babas into a liquid. The muffins make a great quick in the car breakfast or as part of a school lunch. Thanks for your great videos! God bless!
Thank for that idea! Muffins are a great breakfast!
Hello my friend just wanted to check on how the kiddos is enjoying school please don't stop doing your videos I really enjoy them
They are doing wonderful! They love it so much and are even loving riding the bus!!
I went to Costco yesterday for the first time they opened one up in Hendersonville Tn area I love Costco so many nice times I stocked up for sure so many good deals on frozen items chips for my kiddos for school snack also if you ever want to try a good frozen veggie the big bags of roasted veggies are awesome 👏 highly recommended
My youngest daughter has never eaten cafeteria food. She has always wanted me to make her lunch - she also never eats sandwiches, LOL. So I have always had to make hot lunches for her chicken rice vegges, soup, etc. She is 16 now and forgot her lunch yesterday and had to buy school lunch for the first time in her life (her school is 30 minutes away so I wasn't able to drop off her lunch as I was working) - she said it was a step up from prison food but was still horrible, LOL. She said she will never forget her lunch again.
Hot soup, baked beans, spaghetti hoops, or pasta and sauce in a wide neck flask is nice in the cold weather. Little pots of jelly with fruit set in it. Fritters made from odds and ends of cheese, cooked veg., leftover meat, etc.mixed with flour and egg and fried, with a little pot of ketchup or bbq sauce to dip. Sausage rolls, gyoza or pierogi with a dip. Pitta bread with hummous or split open and stuffed with salad and ham, cheese etc. Savoury rice slices, quiche, corned beef and potato pie. I love the bento style boxes with the different layers and compartments and all the little accessories that go with them! Watch a few Japanese packed lunch videos and marvel at the time those women put in to their kids' lunches!
I'll have to check out some of those videos! You listed some great options! Thanks Colette!
@@mamabairds search kyaraben and prepare to have your mind blown!
Wow! What a great Costco Haul!
Look at all you've gotten done!
Shopping, putting groceries away, making snack bags etc etc.
I bet you are tired but
"It's a Good Tired"...that's what my Mama would say after cooking/working...❤
Great video.
Thank you! I was able to get so much done without the kids under foot! It was amazing! Haha
I like the lunch containers that you chose for the kiddos. Fresh fruit and healthier foods during childhood hopefully, will become what they prefer as adults. ❤
Love your shopping vlogs ❤
Yay! Thank you!
Lunch prep saves soooo much time and money just like dinner prep and bulk freezer meals! I really want some of those pretzels now lol.
Great haul. You seem to much calmer and ready. The best thing is to portion it out just like you did as soon as you get home.
Another great video, Carolina. You rock.
Love 💕 and Hugs. ❤❤❤
Yes! Thank you! I have so much time for activities now! haha
I wanna go too ❤
I love watching you portion stuff!!! I love that snack station so much!!!!!
The best!
My daughter spends Sunday afternoon preparing my granddaughter's lunch and snacks for the week. Thus process started when granddaughter started a 2-year Pre-K Program in Florence. Daughter found half cup Rubbermaid containers that work like a dream. Daughter fixes veggies/dip, fruit/yogurt, cheese sticks, and a half peanut butter sandwich in a silicone reusable bag. Granddaughter may not eat everything in her lunch box (she's just 5), but she gets a variety of choices. Oh, and she takes her refillable water bottle. BTW, her school does not offer lunch like at public schools.
1/2 Cup portions would be a great idea! Thanks for sharing!
Oh yes, the school snacks and lunches can take up a lot of a budget. We love the kirkland chewy bars. My son thinks they taste better than the quaker ones. I bet you miss your babies during the day, but more mom time is a plus. 😊
My twins have Celiac disease so I have to pack a lunch for them every day. I got them the McCormick 2 compartment plastic containers from the Dollar tree. I put their sandwich in one side and chips on the other. If they misplaced it it's only 1.25. They are 14 & their fav is when I make homemade lunchables. I make a lot of their snacks bc of the Celiac but I also like to put treats in there that I usually wouldn't give them at home. I don't buy snack packs due to the cost.
Great haul Mama! I've never been to a Costco before. Looks like some good deals. Love your snack cabinet. That's what I need because in my apartment we don't have much storage space. ❤❤
Oh yes, that kitchen cart would great for an apartment!
@@mamabairds I thought so too I'll have to invest in one 😊

❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
It was always a meat sandwich, 2 cookies and a bag of chips. A carton of chocolate milk was bought at the school. That's what l got lunch. Lunches were always great in the 80s and 90s so my kids bought their lunch. It always included a dessert back then and 2 homemade yeast rolls. I was a lunch lady in the school cafeterias.
I, too, started out sending those kinds of snack items in school lunches when my daughter was around your children's ages. Then we went through some serious financial problems. So I stopped buying expensive individually portioned snack stuff and store bought cookies for her lunches. Instead, I started baking healthy treats to replace those junk foods. Sorry, granola bars, and those fruit snacks are really just sugary junk foods "advertised" as healthy kid snacks. Each week, I made a batch of muffins using applesauce instead of oil and real fruit or veggies (pumpkin, zucchini, or carrot). Sweet loaves also work great. Sometimes, I would make squares (rice krispies, cookie bars, brownies, etc), snack cake, or cupcakes for a special treat. But I still had control over what ingredients went in them and tried to find ways to make them healthier. I personally hate making homemade cookies, but those are also great lunch items. I would then individually portion the snacks that were dedicated for lunches and made it clear to everyone that they were only for lunches. Freezing them is also an option. If there were leftovers, those were fair game for the family to enjoy. For example, 1 cake mix or a double batch of muffins makes 24 servings. You need 15 for each child to have 1 each day in their lunch for the week (3 children x 5 school days). So, any extras were up for grabs for the family. Of course, you could also use the extras in your husbands lunch.
Now that your children are in school, you should have time to bake healthy treats each week. It's fine to occasionally buy some convenient snacks for those weeks you find you are just too busy to bake. But I only bought them when at a super cheap discount and saved them for "emergencies". Boxed mixes, like cake, brownie, jello or pudding also can be used when short on time. However, if you freeze some baked goods ahead, whether precooked or uncooked, ready-to-bake, they may not be necessary at all.
Carolina I always put sandwiches chips drink an a treat an fruit 🍌
Walmart carry the very small plastic containers for yogurt, applesauce, etc. kinda the size of those pre-made cups you're saving but they have lids. when my kids were younger I would make pudding, jello etc on weekend, put into those small containers & it was easiest to grab in morning. Put those Cheeze-it in snack bags also. I also bought a Rubbermaid 8 oz. Plastic container with straw built into cap they brought milk, or sugar free Koolaid. We were on very limited income so these helped me a lot.
Those are great ideas! I like the one about making pudding and jello in them!
great job
Thanks Kris!
Could you do a what I pack my kids for lunch video?
Great idea!
I'm trying to live a more frugal life style and was wondering if bulk shopping would save money BTW those rayberns cheese steak subs are good!!!
