RIP the two members of Killing Joke
Geordie Walker (December 18, 1958 - November 26, 2023), aged 64
Paul Raven (January 16, 1961 - October 20, 2007), aged 46
You both will be remembered as legends.
Darn... I'm late to this band I see....
RIP 🌹 🌹 they will always be remembered.
RIP, Geordie. What fantastic guitar playing on this song.
And our pockets are empty
But we'll live like kings and queens...
RIP Geordie Walker.
I,m now an old man of 70,Killing joke are most likely the best band i have ever had the pleasure of listening to.There is quite honestly no one to match them,RIP Geordie and Paul.
It's amazing to think Jaz didn't want to be the front man at first. He's one of the best front people ever - He has a really shamanic/preacher energy, which feels absolutely genuine.
👍 🍄+🎵=🗝️
@@davidforshaw4998 I saw them in the early days at Edgbaston cricket club in Birmingham and the drummer was singing
As a matter of fact, in real ife he is also a priest and is authorised to marry or bury people.
And he's also a conductor of a symphonic ochestra and he recieved a PHD in music
and he's a smart man and very well spoken and always with 2 feet on the ground,
so he a respected gentleman alright.
Jaz is not a practicing priest as there is rules to touch kids and be a horrible person on the priesthood, I don't think Jaz would go near the order of having to raped young children to be a part of the horrible catholic cult church
„Shamanic“ is the best description for him. What a front man!
got into killing joke this year at 55. How did I miss this band in early 80s? Even the material in 90s and 2000's and beyond was great. This band has a special vibe/magic going on. The tune by them"pilgrimage" is god tier quality!
never too late to join the gathering! welcome friend! I love all the albums, each has something special
hey bruh, I just now 5 minutes ago posted the same exact thing as you on a different video about missing this band in the 80ś and 90ś. Where was my head? They have 15 studio albums. I just turned 50 and this band kills it. Not to add that Ministry, Nirvana, Metallica and many others were influenced by these dudes. Rock n Roll.
At least you're there now.. 😁🎵
I am utterly convinced Jaz would have been the perfect actor to play the villain in a 1920s German Expressionist film
This version of the band is as close to perfect as it gets. Jaz is one of the greatest frontmen ever.
it's good how you can hear all the instruments equal
@Kojii Naz at least we could play that ha ha
Rest in peace dear Geordie.
In a perfect and just world, Killing Joke would have been the biggest, baddest, loudest band in the world! This is perfection, everything they release is perfection, once in a lifetime band.
They change your perception. I only heard them a few years ago and I'm forever changed.
It is more simple, the British should have bought their records but they didn't. They buried a lot of legends, KJ is one of them.
Utterly under+rated.
@Boris Rangelov Being British this pisses me off. I think it was a case of bad marketing, sabotaged by poor management. Everybody overlooked KJ and bought the sodding Clash instead.
@@Emulous79 I could never get into the clash beyond a couple of their songs, but joe strummer was cool as hell as aperson
the most consistent band in the world
These guys should have been huge, they've got everything, the tunes, kicking rhythm and the hard metal edge plus the new wage innovations with the use of electronics. They got robbed.
One of their managers hated them judging by what he said on the documentary The Death and Resurrection Show. He deliberately gave them shitty cover art and said "take that, ya bastards".
Just the one Top 20 hit single with Love Like Blood in early 1985,directly before this one.
@@Emulous79 LOL
It sucks but at least the amazing lesser known bands like this could afford to survive back then. There were just enough fans to let them tour and do an album every few years and make a living.
@@sabbracadabra8367
There's another band called Love & Money and who were great but never made it big.
What a loss losing Raven. Brilliant bassist. Frankly up there with the best of the best
Absolutely man.
Yep, sadly both he and the wonderful original Wembley Stadium both no more....
absolutely crucial to their sound. Everyone in that band.
What a driving bass line throughout, almost tries to take over from the drums, but a perfect match of percussion. Definitely agree on his talent and putting his mark on Killing Jokes musical fingerprint. RIP
Anyone know how he actually died?
This is bloody brilliant, as a metalhead I'm amazed by the raw power of this song. I wish I had paid more attention to them after listening to the Metallica cover of The Wait at the Garage Days LP, during my teenage years.
Really Love Paul Raven bass guitar playing on this song
on every song, I would say.
Geordies riffs . Cmon . Blow my mind . Every time .
sparra 65 my favorite guitarist.
This still sounds great.
I saw Killing Joke at the Elephant Fayre festival as a 14 year old , my life wasn't the same after that.
A hugely underrated, vastly talented and highly influential band. I love Killing Joke.
Geordie is one best guitarists alive
The most important and influential band ever.
One of the few bands I go bonkers for. Bands like The Cult, Cure, Echo and the Bunneymen, Tool, Soundgarden...
The Cult all day!
This is why the 80's rocked because there were SO many great bands and their sounds became our memories of that amazing time!
That bass sound!
I was jamming these guys when I was a child I have a tattoo on the back of my neck that's how old I go back with these boys glad somebody still enjoy this good shit
This fucking riff got stuck in my head but I temporarily forgot what song it was attached to...and even what artist. I just recently got into KIlling Joke and bought their Singles collection on vinyl... amazing body of work
One of the most complete songs from the 80's - it has everything 🎸🎶
I grew up in the 80's Killing Joke was one of the first bands i purchased an album of. I am in my 50's now and still love them.
Why is this band so underrated great songs, check, great vocals, check brilliant look check, brilliant and just amazing, rip The Raven King
In my top ten favorite bands. Consistently good.
KJ are my favorite band.
RIP Geordie 😢
At 0:41 it sounds like "take in loads of Marmite, sue me".
RIP Gordie Walker...
1:49 one of the best riffs ever
Georgie is a excellent guitar player
Geordie.
They look so... fucking... dope. Cool as shit.
I keep coming back to this song...cannot get enough of it!
How bout now?
I like how this sounds,a hell of a lot.
I just discovered Killing Joke about a year ago and have loved them since! ❤️
So good, wicked guitar riff, killer bass, awesome drums, powerful vocals.
Everyone is on point in this song! Love Killing Joke. Such an underrated and yet highly influential band.
Only thing they influenced was nirvanas come as you are. Nothing really beyond that
@@eatyourcereal4134 ...NIN, Rammstein, all Gothic rockbands, the Cure, virtually every 80s rockband, Muse....you call that almost nothing? 🤯
Not underrated
@EaT YoUR CerEal: I really hope you weren’t being serious.
GRRRRRRRREAT BASS! 💀
So many feelings here
Great Bass line…Nice hook. Saw them live at the Ritz in NYC. One of my all time favorite bands. In my top 25 with The Stranglers and The Damned. Might start a fight here…but I would take the Damned. In my mind that band withstood the true test of time in that the songs still sound as if they were recorded today. The Damned, Killing Joke, The Stranglers, Public Image Ltd., Midnight Oul.
I like how the drummer goes Ugh!
Paul Ferguson
and Tom G. Warrior should start a band.
Tribal!
Love KILLING JOKE.
RAVEN was also in the 'industrial supergroup' PIGFACE.
RIP.
Well take it easy
While the world goes crazy
As it's just another day
And we've all been through the mangle
And our pockets are empty
But we'll live like kings and queens
Hear the choirs of noise sing
Take a load off my mind soothe me
Live like kings and queens
Well easy sleazy
In and out and back again
Feel a power running through me
And I'm alive and kicking
I accept submission
To the pleasures of the flesh
And the joy of pain
Satisfy me satisfy
Live like kings and queens
I said: "take it easy
"Sanity has come"
I can never undo
The wrong of the beginning
There's so many hungry
But I'm gonna turn a blind eye
'cause I've got to live now
Rejoice and kill your heart 'cause I say...
Live like kings and queens
One of my favorite KJ songs!
Desde el batero hasta Coleman, todos son jodidamente increíbles. Night Time ha sido uno de los mejores discos que he escuchado ♥
Specto Caligo Tremendos
What a band....❤️❤️❤️
Their path from new romantic to industrial metal was much smoother than Ministry's :)
Just found this: not heard this for over 35 years..!! Still great in 2022.....is anyone else getting an Adam and the Ants vibe, especially in the chorus...?
i see what you mean about the adam and the ants vibe!!
@@martynaanna17 can hear me some Siouxie n banshees here too
What a great sound they have!!! I love all Ive heard from this band! The "arabic" part rocks fucking hell!!
Give this retro new wave 80s music please 😁
i have recently bought and played the Night time album with it pumped up in the van to full volume i simultaniously nearly had a heart attack and got two speeding tickets driving through my beloved hertfordshire in england in two days, im gutted but wouldnt change the experience for the world hahahahhhahaha
Killing Joke it's heavy post-punk
Never knew there was video for Kings and Queens. I've seen them play this song live on the UK show The Tube back in the day. KJ is simply the greatest band ever. This particular song has some Arabic sounding guitar chords too..
A couple of years after Agent Orange's "Bloodstains"... but still waaay ahead of the Offspring boys 👍👍
Really love Paul Raven Bass playing on the Chou's of this song
Saw them at the hammersmith palais way back in the eighties...Geordie was always so cool and the sound that came from his guitar amazing....
one of the greates hits of Killing Joke!
NIGHT TIME a classic!
followed since 84....R. I.P Geordie
That bass tho, nasty, absolutely love it
i've re-read in an 2012 Mojo mag (with the beach boys on the cover) that the singer is a massive classical music fan...and he live in New Zealand too... such a weirdo tall Hobbit...
He’s not only a fan, but a composer of many of his own classical pieces. I do know that during this time (when I knew them well) the only music listened to in the tour van was Beethoven, Wagner, and Mozart at full volume. “Foot to the floor!”
I remember how crystal clear it sounded over other records of it's time. There wasn't one bit of filler on it.
I once spent an uncomfortable few minutes with Jaz in a lift. His eyes were wild and I didn't know what to say..... arrggghh!!
+pigknickers
Hello?
+pigknickers I'd love to talk to that guy.
:)
+Tom Robb
Lapland?
+pigknickers My Mum met Jaz Coleman; she said hello, and he shushed her.
@@gasmaskboi19371945
My mum met Jaz Coleman's aunty at the hairdresser! They became pals and for the next decade, I'd get blow by blow accounts of his glorious rise. My mum would close each telling of his latest world-shifting achievement with, "So what are _you_ doing?"
The 80's media and so called music press couldn't work them out or even pigeon hole them only John Peel and maybe Annie Nightingale got the joke. To the chosen few of us they were brilliant and 41 years later they still are.
LAUGH AT YOUR PERIL.
Ahhh the Raven King!
That riff...
he looks a bit like sly's rambo with that hairdo
brighter than a thousand suns great cd
This one has a great groove 😎👍
World class drummer
can i ask why geordie did not appear on any guitar magazine ever and billie joe amstrong did...
life sucks
Billie who?
+Ishmael3261 dude, smoke a spliff and chill out
michael ives Dude, go somewhere where people know you and value your opinion. I will give you a hint as to where that is...............it's not here on youtube.
michael ives
It's not hate dummy, it's being annoyed at somebody butting into a conversation uninvited. Now go fuck off.
ouch, my feelings.
live like kings & queens
Tune
stonewall classic
What the hell are you talking about? *Yuck*
está canción.....
Kings and Queens.....

los sonidos....
Killing Joke....😅
KJ ! Seen you in NYC in mid 70's and was hooked and never abandoned ship ,best ever ❤️
What a good song
love how every album is different
What can be said about KJ? Brilliant, brilliant and brilliant....🤟🤟🤟
Beautiful!!!
Great scenic presence ... Great Jaz
R.I.P. Geordie Walker (1958-2023) 🙏
Fantastic music video.
Maybe just me but Jaz looks a little like a Gothic Syd Barrett.
And these days he looks a like a heather Alice Cooper.
Heather? You mean heathen?
the he-Siouxsie
So underrated
Good sounds!
still fab
Geordie's smooth moves at 2:10
man was made to strum the guitar
RIP, Geordie
The Light Pours Out of Meeee
hugely under rated band , Love Like Blood probably their best , imo ,
I can immediatly tell you havent heard anything else besides Love like blood and a couple of singles here and there to say such a thing. This band has enough albums and material to last you a life time.
Also 80s
@@afoolisharrangement So what he's heard and hasn't heard is something you can tell "immediately"?
How d'you know he hasn't heard every Killing Joke track ever made and come to a long pondered conclusion that 'Love Like Blood' is his favourite? I'll tell you, you don't ;)
What a tune
I love 💕 this band I'm in my 39 yr old barely hearing about this band away I'm now a day of them now
I mean I'm a fan of them
Jaz should have been an actor !!!
Florent, a late reply... Look for Year of the Devil film circa 2003, a Czech film but with a lot of English and subtitles...and guess who Jaz seems to be😊 Black comedy of ritual and alcoholism and music...in Cz Rok D'abla.
Or the Pope!
30 odd years on an im still living like Kings an Queens 👍
Sublime!!!! Smply
Best band ever #1
"Europe " is my favourite song in this album !!!!
Fantastic song and video 😎👌🏻💜🔥
Tom da guitarra desse cara é muito foda
Im with you 100% on the track Night Time, best track off the album thats for sure!
