I'd argue that the ENTIRE ALBUM (even the title: "Extremities, Dirt and Various Repressed Emotions") was a warning. "Prophetic" is an understatement.

You are not alone my friend. The 15th of March 2020 was the beginning of a new reality for me here in New York, I left the city, which has bought time. The last three Killing Joke records: Absolute Dissent, MMXII (maybe MMXXII haha) and Pylon definitely are in my rotation. Jaz did a song "The Day the Earth Went Mad" under his own name with a video last year.

Jaz Coleman is fabulous, he opens people's eyes on realities of this world. KJ's songs are more relevant now that it was at the time !

I was at the live show in this video, front row, at the Metro in Chicago. The video itself was recorded before the show started, probably three takes. I went home with Geordie's setlist and some fake Yankee dollars. ;)

I am like most of you, a strong Killing Joke fan. I discovered this band in 1982 and their music is like crutches for me. One broke last sunday....
"Extremities, Dirts,..." album has strong and pure lyrics. It sounds a bit like the idea showed on Gang of Four first album sleeve (a cow-bay shaking an indian hands then telling "Now, the Indian is fooled" ") or Keziah Jones lyrics on track "The Wisdom Behind the Smile (Cash)".

Kurt cobain was squeezing Teenage zits when Jazz Coleman and Co made their debut album which was for the year ( 1977)Punk was everyone's trend, kids wearing in fashion "Clash, Sex P, Buzzcock" badges, yet couldn't name one track more than maybe "London calling, God STQ, Ever fallen in love n so on,, Killing joke were NEVER punk, they were post apocalyptic Metal, Punk, New wave rolled into one fat Bifff, still imo one of the best bands of the 20th century.... Check every album out , thier roots may sound different, yet still very much "A way of life"

After listening to this and "Living In the 80's", I think it's easy to assume that this band was one of the great musical influences of Kurt Cobain/Nirvana.

I love how the unjustly harsh criticism of the "Outside The Gate" album fuelled KJ to make this dark, seething cold fury of a record! One big middle finger to the 'conventional' 😎
To be fair, Outside the Gate IS bloody awful. But this record is magnificent.
It's funny I've never heard that one. I always thought it was "Brighter Than 1,000 Suns" that was their last one before taking a bit of a hiatus and coming back with a vengeance with "Extremeties..." and "Pandemonium" after that.

Here's my suggestion to you: Don't let money decide your life just because it's "fruitful", there's such a thing as the daily grind which is *not fun.* I had a nightmare with dozens upon dozens of people of many ages on the sides of the road, in daily grind machines and all were sleeping while being ground to nothing. ARE YOU RECEIVING ME? I wasn't in the machines, it was like that Star Trek episode with legal (and expected to be used) suicide booths on the sides. They were all used until Kirk and crew blew up the computer.

The really painful truth is realising this corporate shit without being able to change it..capitalism is everywhere and one has to be very tough to refrain from possession. For instance; I cannot listen to this song without either a HIFI set or a smartphone or a computer. Fantastic band and song, but this song was mastered poorly. KJ's later releases were mixed and mastered LOUD and this track should have been mixed/mastered louder.
