    Holy crap, I cant believe how much faffing you have to do to get to the battery on these newer monsters. I have 06 and its literally undo the latch and lift the tank up.

    Really helpful video. Thanks mate! As a mechanical engineer, I can't believe Ducati made what should be a simple routine task so time consuming.

    This bike is tedious but easy to work on. The only thing i go to the dealer for is Valve Adjustments because i don't trust myself playing around in the engine.

    Maybe not as good looking as Europeans but much more reliable and simple to maintain.

    Thank you for sharing! Im kinda hesitant to work on mine myself, cause it's my first bike.. I'm having hiccups through the whole rev range while accelerating. Thought it would stop after a valve readjustment but the problem is still there.. So before bringing it back to the shop again I'm gonna check the spark plugs first & might give this a try too, to see if my air filter is still okay.
    So thank you for the video!

    This is soooo helpful. Or, I should say, it would have been if I found it two weeks ago. I used the manual I downloaded from Ducati and made corrections and notes along the way. I ended up realizing a couple of next to impossible steps weren't necessary. Albeit one handed, this is very helpful to any Ducati owner. I've got the 2012 796 Monster as well. Please keep it up. How about one on squishy front brakes? I'm hoping taking the cover off and pumping got it done. I'll see tomorrow. Again, thanks. This is truly a service to fellow Ducati owners.(And yes, Timbuktoo, I though the same thing! Still, it's worth it to me.)

    The dirty part of the air filter is on the inside. The outside pleats are the cleanside of the filter. It's the opposite of how it is on most cars.

    • @jetninjamonkey
      @jetninjamonkey  2 роки тому

      You are 100% correct! That was something I wasn't aware of at the time.

  • @MrToonfish

    Hey ! There, I have a Monster 1100 EVO from 2011 myself. If you looked carefully to the parts manual, you'll see that there is ONLY 1 bolt and 1 washer that fixes the tank to the frame. It's normal to have this 8mm bolt + washer on the right side of the bike but you don't have this screw and washer on the left side. That's pretty bizarre but it must be that way, 1 bolt is enough to maintain the tank in place but the other side is just a metal bushing inserted in the rubber part that sits into the frame to locate the tank correctly. Nothing's happens to your bike dear, you did not lose any part. Regards from Belgium ! ;-)

    Thanks for this video. I had to change the battery out on my 2012 796 today and it really helped. Missing bolt on the left side is normal & the parts book only shows one on the right, too. The tank is well secured by the pins in front and the bolt at the back end. The bolt on the right is a backup. It's confusing because the pin bushing is threaded on the left side, too. Ciao!

  • @lazart8742
    @lazart8742 7 років тому +1

    I saw you remove a bolt from the right side but not the left . The part where the tank bolts on to the frame. Is the left side simply a metal dowel that slides in and out?

    • @jetninjamonkey
      @jetninjamonkey  7 років тому +1

      Good question. The left side is threaded, but apparently either Ducati doesn't feel a fastener on both sides is necessary which a previous commenter stated, or mine had both and the left side backed out.

    • @lazart8742
      @lazart8742 7 років тому +1

      I think it's a Ducati issue because mine does not have a bolt and the tank slides right out. Thanks for the great video.

  • @seafdamon
    @seafdamon 6 років тому

    Also there's a little wire that hooks into a little clip in the bottom of the tank in back. After you undo the bolts the wire will trap the tank. So look for that and undo it before yanking up on the tank.
