The the actors speak is very like the real Edward and Wallis voices! I love it!

"The unimportance of being Ernest!" LOL! perfect pun.

I often thought, Ernest Simpson being an astute businessman, was perhaps letting his wife off the leash in order to ultimately secure something for himself. Obviously, he didn`t seem to mind that she was getting screwed by the prince. One can only assume that he had "interests" in the carnal arena himself. I also thought that Wallis was too stupid to realize her husbands ambitions and intentions.

Terrific acting though out. David really didn't want the job...It bored him.

The actor playing Edward is Laurence Fox’s uncle.

This actress’ voice is more like Wallis’ real voice than that of any other who has played her

JE MA from recordings of Wallis’ actual voice compared to voices of other actresses who have played her, of course

@@davidpar2 Did wealthy people in Baltimore sound like that in the 1930s?

Coqui Negra Wallis had more of a “Transatlantic” accent than the typical Baltimore native. I’m assuming she picked it up from socializing in high society

What a useless king he would have made. We were lucky he left!

The line at ~ 1:52 should be: “Nice customs curtsy to great kings”. She pronounced it as “courtesy”. I’m surprised the director didn’t catch that - especially since she said the line twice.

Reminds me of Henry and Meghan now .... was Wallis manipulative as Meg seems to be portrayed as 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

"Nice customs courtesy to great kings" - Henry V. No way would the real Wallis Simpson have pulled out a quote from Shakespeare. She was a "People magazine cover-to-cover" type, but that was it. NO depth, no real literature, and DEFINITELY NO Shakespeare.

The exact quote is "nice customs curtsy to great kings". And she misspoke the verb twice. The miracle is that she knew it at all LOL

she probably wrote it on the back of one of her shitty clutch purses. i'm ashamed to say, even to this day, americans can't resist fawning over the inbred bores known as the monarchy. or to brits in general actually.

You need to read the recently released collection of Simpson's letters---it shows that she was in over her head, never wanted to divorce Simpson and being blackmailed by David. Also, the archbishop of Canterbury, along with the help of Bertie (George VI) and Elizabeth, is the one who forced the abdication. The people weren't pressed about Simpson's marital status, even in the 1930's. Your comment is so not in alignment with history and scholarship it's not funny. Hysterical paroxyms don't count.

The actor s\acting is just smarter than these two hollow numbers were...but makes for better viewing. No chance she could quite anything from Shakespeare...

Doesn't resemble either the King or the Queen. Typical.
