Graceland's Food and Beverage Director, Daniel Clark, shows you how to make Elvis’ favorite... Peanut Butter & Banana sandwiches!
Go to Memphis Mafia Kid and watch Jo Smith make it like she used to make it for Elvis. I made it like she showed and it WAS delicious. I just wouldn’t let myself eat it all.
This isn't the way Elvis had it made..Probably Priscilla's version. It'll do and the flavors will be close. Just cause it's Graceland channel doesn't mean it's the way it was.
Is there a method out there closer to the way Elvis ate them? I've seen the Elvis cookbook with the wedding cake recipe in the back but I don't own it to reference.
BeatleJWOL I think Memphis Mafia Kid’s channel had his mother, Jo Smith , showing how she made them for Elvis.
@@Long_Haired_Country_Boy Yes that's the one I'm talking about. More filling, could eat half at a time.
It's definitely not the way elvis cook mrs. Mary jenkins made it there is a video on UA-cam she tells you how
Rockstars thats not how you make a sandwich for the King .it was fried in butter .an i heard banana's were mashed .
I'll go with the way Mary Jenkins made them for Elvis, not this.
🤗
That's the Presleyla Beaulieu style ....
Denis Martig was a pastry chef that made the wedding cake. It was a yellow sponge cake filled twice with apricot marmalade with a kirsch flavored Bavarian cream. All layers were glazed with kirsch flavored fondant icing with decorated with royal icing and marzipan flowers. Kirsch is short for kirschwasser, a fruit brandy made from black morello cherries. Would love to know how to make this...
Wow, I could never have figured this out myself!
NOT THE RIGHT RECIPE!!!!!
Tina from Kansas. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I sure learned alot. Something interesting to watch the way things are right now.
Originally, Elvis' mama Gladys, would mash the peanut butter with the banana to make the sandwich. It wasn't until later in the 1970s when Elvis was touring that a chef at one of the hotels actually fried the sandwich in butter. Elvis liked them and arranged for Mary Jenkins to make them this way in future.
Mary Jenkins said the bananas were mashed and mixed with the peanut butter first, then spread on toasted bread first, then fried in butter.
OOH more recipes are cooking please! On payday I'm trying this!!!
Everyone is a damn critic! Geez just enjoy the video. Like he said (but of course no one wants to listen) You can change the recipe to the way you like it. I know his chef made it different, but who cares, it's a sandwich for Gods sake! Elvis has multiple chefs over the years, and I'm sure things were different over the years as well. He is their chef at Graceland and just showing how they make it there. I have had it there and it is amazing.
Yeah I agree. There probably is no strict recipe. It just depends on the chef or whoever was in the house and whatever ingredients were in the kitchen too just like in real life.
He ruined the Sandwich. He is a French foreigner and he ain’t from the south. An outrage. Absolute outrage
I tried pb snd banana in 2016 I thought it would be bad but it was delicious
Vernon said to toast the bread first ! Thought there was jelly and bacon in the middle too ?
Your supposed to toast the bread first. Then spread a heaping amount of peanut butter on both slices of the bread. Then follow the other steps.
I'll be making one of those with butter rather than bacon fat.
I can't hack it! I like to butter some English muffins, throw them in the oven until they're crispy, then slap some orange marmalade on them.
I think Elvis mum would use the fat ( dripping ) from anything she fried not just bacon
Josephine Powell - Elvis' mama did not fry the sandwiches. Gladys would mash the peanut butter and banana together, then spread it thickly on white bread to make a sandwich.
Jacqueline C I didn't say she fried the sandwiches , I meant back in the day they would use the fat and Grease from meats they cooked and bacon etc and use it like butter
Southern cooking !
Banana's are supposed to be mashed... and when Mary made them she used a block of butter...
Your using skippy peanut butter ?
You for got the meo.
Could you please show us how to make Elvis & Pricilla's wedding cake? Yellow sponge cake filled with apricot marmalade and liquer flavored cream?
No no no no he had it toasted, then made the sandwich then fried it watch the burger and the king, Mary Jenkins was his cook
Graceland is Lisa's not cillas she walked away from it all for Mike stone
Bacon grease too. That should be called the heart attack sammich.
NOPE! THIS ISNT HOW ELVIS' SANDWICHES WERE MADE! BILLY AND JOE SMITH {ELVIS COUSIN} SHOWS EXACTLY HOW ITS DONE ON MMK UA-cam CHANNEL!
No dude, Elvis’ personal cook did it this way on tv, you can find it on UA-cam. Billy and jo probably just made it their own way for Elvis. Both of his cooks said it was this way, but with a lot more butter!
Corporate Graceland even waters down the peanut butter n banana sandwiches
I didnt know to fry it
💜
Best way is how Graceland makes it!!!
Best way is how mrs. Mary Jenkins made it for him she toasted the bread in a toaster watch her video on UA-cam
Thomas Sealy never knew that. How would they have a video if video were not around? Maybe a home movie with no sound 8mm
UA-cam mary jenkins peanut butter and banana sandwich then you will see the title elvis Presley long time Graceland cook Mary jenkins elvis also bought her a house
@@carol2girls Mary Jenkins, Elvis' long time cook, was interviewed on video tape, in the kitchen, where she actually made the PB&B sandwich. Ms. Jenkins tells that the first time she made it at Graceland, the sandwich was not to Elvis' liking, so Vernon showed Mary that the trick was to TOAST the bread before frying the whole sandwich in butter. It is a charming video.
People in this comment section are acting like they were only ever made one way. Whatever I have made for myself to eat I have always changed it up overtime. All methods were probably right, they were just made that way at different stages of his life.
Ya'll need to invest in some microphones.
Manano.
Wow that cooking area isent clean at all
I put my jar of Skippy in the microwave for a couple of minutes like you said and my microwave caught fire
ummmm....
😱
Keep cooking and make 12 more,ok,
what are u doing to my cousin
Great!!
Just to let you know, he is not doing it the right way. Mary Jenkins, Elvis’ Graceland cook, made many peanut butter and banana sandwiches for Elvis. There is even a UA-cam video with her showing how to make the sandwich. Just type in Mary Jenkins Elvis sandwich and it should come up in UA-cam search. How Mary did the sandwich was the way Elvis liked it best. Here is how to do it ; toast the bread lightly in a toaster first. Use the Texas Wonderbread for it. Then apply the peanut butter to the inside slices of the toasted bread along with the slices of banana on one piece of bread. Heat your frying pan on medium heat and melt butter in the pan just enough so that the butter is melted. Put your sandwiches in the frying pan. Takes about a minute or a bit longer then flip it, you want to soak up the butter and the bread will then turn into a grilled type texture. You don’t want to leave it any longer because the peanut butter will seep out of the bread from the heat. Plate and slice it up …don’t forget to have a cold Pepsi with it. Elvis enjoyed Pepsi. I’m a lifelong Elvis fan raised by my precious Mom who also loved Elvis. The man in the video means well and seems like a sweetheart …but he isn’t making it the way Elvis had it.
Anyone from the south knows how to make that
This is all wrong!! Elvis' longtime cook, Mary Jenkins, demonstrated in a video I watched on how he wanted his sandwich. She first toasted the bread in the toaster, then used one stick of butter, frying the entire sandwich in a frying pan. Elvis would've thrown this guy's sandwich in the trash if he served it cooked this way.
It would be better with the actuall items used and the minnie mae way fried on a pan with rashers( bacon)
So unhealthy but that's what our Elvis loved.
Loollll my friend don't care you working for presleyla Beaulieu that's not the way ELVIS have the peanut butter banana sandwich go watch Jo Smith she's the one make so much sandwich for ELVIS PRESLEY not the one playing the weddow presleyla Beaulieu....go back at school watch the video with Jo smith
