I can’t wait for my 7 baby tetras to join my other 3. They will join mom, pop and Aunty. Aunty is the aggressor so hopefully once they start to school she will settle down some. ❤
These are great fish. I bought 7 of them last week and put them in with 2 surviving electric yellow labs from a Mbuna tank. The labs had been very shy but after the BAT's were in the tank for only about 2 days, the EYLab's became much more outgoing. Now they approach the front of the tank whenever I get ready to feed them and let me watch without hiding. The BAT's never stop moving and they all survived (from PetSmart).
That's awesome!
I have 9 in a 38 gallon planted tank. They are far and away my favorite schooling fish I have kept. My tank is overstocked and over filtered my BA tetras do not bother anyone. I catch them spawning in the morning sometimes. Mine are all pushing 3 inches. I find feeding them frozen in the morning and having plants helps to trigger this behavior especially if you feed 1 hour early and before you turn the lights on. It an awesome sight to see. Much love Darius. You're an inspiration to my hobby. Thank you for your work and knowledge.
Thank you, sounds like a very enjoyable tank!
They don’t eat your live plants?
@@thomasaquino2251 all of my stem plants are thriving as is my java ferns. I feed them water Sprite and have zero problems and mine are huge all pushing 3+ inches.
I ❤ my BA Tetras!!
Love these fish!
I first had some in a 20gal and loved their activity. A decade later I’ve got 11 of them in my 180gal community tank, and they are a lot of fun.
I moved a plant from that tank over to a 10gal, and now I have at least three 0.5” babies 🥰
I had no idea they were in there (MTS, and it’s supposed to be a live food culture tank… heavily planted tho), so it was a pleasant surprise.
They are beautiful DW I love how they all stick together 🤗🤗
Don't know why but your comments keep appearing as spam...probably because your so supportive in the community and you comment on a lot of videos....but anyway thanks for stopping by!
It's because you tube hates me I swear it does I've been having this issue since I've been on you tube .... according to you tube if your over active the system doesn't know that I am a real person because I comment a lot ? I told them isn't this the point of you tube ? To be active and enjoy your subscribers content ? I can't not comment and be supportive at the same time .... I can verify my account but only when I have 100,000 subs what a joke ... one day they may realise that I am a REAL person and not a spam bot haha
Love the way they school.
Yes they are sticking together well! Thanks for stopping by!
definitely a great schooling fish with great colors 👍
Thank You!
Absolutely loved this video...Buenos is my one of my fav tetras...I think there clever the natural personality lines up with my nature..Love the highlights within there color there activity levels are a major highlight n compliment to the tank...There aggression towards other tank mates are higher w/1or 2..they ONLY tolerate other shark like fish if theres a secured school...avoid tank mates with long fins will nip as they grow more...I really enjoy n adore them alot...Must admit there my 1st pick out of the tetra species Im obsessed
Their only downside is that they eat plants
the most active fish in my tank but i wish the lady helping me at my LFS was more up front about their aggressiveness. i almost made the decision to pull them out because the biggest tetra was picking on the other fish in my tank in the first hour. as i was chasing him with the net all of the other fish moved to one side of my 45 GAL and he was just hiding in my plants. We did that for 20 minutes and he was put in his place and stopped bullying.
I like them
These guys grow LARGE! I love large schooling fish! Eg. Giant danio
How big??
@@DankDaHerbalist The ones I saw were at least 3-4 inches.
I love their tight school. I got 5 of them. I wish I had got more.
They have been breeding. Now I have 20 and they are on the 3rd or 4th generation.
easily my favorite smaller schooling fish
mine have some very nice reds on them
They are awesome! Thanks for watching
These are cool, I have 60+ between albino and normal color in my 170 with my 23" Royal Pleco. Love they way they school, interact with each other and eat.
Wow I can't even imagine how awesome a school that size would look!
Good to see these fish! I have them too! I think they are beautiful!!
Thank You, yes they definitely are beautiful!
nice its so cool watching all the different fish you have master fish keeper
Lol! Thank You!
nice fish great rocks too
Thank You!
Great video. They are great duckweed eaters too.
Thank You, I'll have to give that a try...I've been afraid to keep duck weed because I hear is unremoveable from tanks!
DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS they're no where near a goldfish but they keep it at bay enough so that light doesn't get blocked off.
BA Tetras move CONSTANTLY. They bring SO MUCH to a tank
I just purchased 16 Buenos aires tetra for my 55 gallon. I put them in with my 7 year old angel because that's all that was in the tank. They were so cheap at Petco I bought every one they had. Usually I research a fish before I choose it but I figured what the heck and took a chance. I wish I knew that they are plant eaters before I purchased them lol. I guess I'll have to keep an eye on them
Yeah these guys shred most plants, the only plant mine didn't touch was anacharis
Hey So how are your tetras ?
wow they look awsome!! love the tank.
Thank YoU!
I have six of them right now. Besides bettas, they are currently my favorite type of fish 😊
They have great energy compared to most tetra
DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS yeah! I love to watch them dart around the tank
Hello, I'm doing my homework, I have 20 Buenos Aires tetras in my 40 breeder, and added some Serpa tetra with them, there awesome. I'm just fighting pH condition and KH .
There definitely beutiful fish. I was going to ask how big they get but you answer it at the end of the video.
Thank You, yes about 2 inches on average
Nice Fish, you can breed these I've had my eye on them for some time. Good to see them in a good sized tank. Some potted Amazon Sword plants would look good as well just too soften up your hard scape. Thanks for the upload.
Thank You, good idea with the plants...I'll try it; hopefully the geo's don't up root them!
I'm in the library now. no problem mate hope your plants work out. look forward to seeing that tank again.
I got seven of them :)
I plan to get some with my angels
I like it!!!
Thank you!
CooL fish 🐳
Thank You!
Yeah, Amazon Swords can get quite big and this tank is deep so they should fill out nice with correct lighting and maybe some plant ferts. Or you could use Crypts instead or both. Best to use terracotta pots they look the best and you need descent sized pots for your tank and you can add some soil with gravel and some some stones to stop your Cichlids from uprooting them.
Thank You, I just added a amazon sword and a small lily so I'll see how they respond to that tank coming out of my main planted tank...when these take off I'll look to add more!
Hi Darius.. they are really gorgeous tetras!! I never need a break from your 220.. love that tank.. but this was awesome too.. Just like you! =D
Thank You Debtim, yes I still have over a dozen more fish to show in my 210g that has become my favorite tank!
It's my fav too Darius!
I'm thinking of summer tubbing these.
The are awesome and should display some cool colors with natural light, just be careful with plant because I found out the hard way that they will shred most plants
Got a Dozen but they've started eating the floating plants... Not happy about that but cool fish.
Silver Dollars and Buenos Aires are such gorgeous schoolers. Unfortunately, I don't have the capacity to keep either, due to the fact that they are PLANT DESTROYERS. Oh, one day...one day.
They are awesome...my silver dollars in my 210g don't touch my plants...but I only have java fern in that tank and I heard fish don't like the taste. I'll see if these tetra let me add some potted plants without them destroying them
I just found a couple of buenos aires tetra fry in a tank where I previously had a school of 8. I moved those to a larger tank . Used SOME gravel from old tank when I did the move. Now 2 weeks later I find these two fry in the old home. i guess they had spawned just before the move. Now I'm expecting some guppy fry very soon. Should I take the Buenos aires fry out?
Very awesome fish, but are fin nippers as all tetras and some barbs doo when you do not provide them with a proper school of at least 5. Another great video Darius!
Thank you, yes I've had problems before when I only kept them solo...but in this school no issues!
Cool!
nice bud
Thank You!
Looks like redcross... or are they the same? Love the set up of your tank. Great aqauscape for them.
Thank you, I think their the same as redcross
Mine got yellow at the base of their bodies where it meets their tail.
They love brine shrimp and blood worms, color enhancer flakes.
hi i recently set up a tank and i bought four as didnt want to overload a new tank, want to get a few more ,how long should i wait before adding more ? thankyou for a great video of a lovely fish
Usually the rule is after your first additions, 2-3 per week.
Can these be kept with silver dollars ?
Yes they should get along well
I’ve got eight and two of the females are pretty big ,mine live with penguin tetras
Those are super small and juvenile. Did you ever have adults? They change alot at adulthood. Very aggressive.
What's the best heater brand to use in a 60 gallon freshwater aquarium?!
Heaters all together are uncertain products meaning that they all have a risk of malfunctioning...so it won't recommend any specific brand but as far as size a 250w-300w might be good for that tank size
How old do the geos have to be before they start breeding?
About 1.5 years which is usually when they reach 3-4inches
It sound like you won't have too long to wait then!
👍☑
they are very nice :). will you had some top dwellers to this tank? and maybe some bigger fish as well, like silver dolar maybe? I don't know geophagus that well and the Buenos Aires tetras look like pretty much every other tetras... in the behavior I mean. I guess you are traying to bild a specific biotop in their but yeah, you should definitivly put other fish in their, like colombian tetras and lemon tetras :). the Buenos Aires ang geophagus are very interesting too look, but they don't have that much coloration. so they could be their to emphasis the coloration and beaty of a main fish in the tank :). but you know, this is just my opinion, you might have other ideas about this tank :). The driftwood is amasing btw, I really like the shape :). Im surprise you don't have any plants in this aquarium, since a lot of tetras like to hide in plants, but maybe it isin't the case of the buenos Aires tetras? anyway, they are very interesting fish :)
Thank You, yes yesterday I started adding plants...I'm using pots though because I didn't want to go through the trouble of draining the tank to add a plant healthy substrate. Currently the Geophagus at still babies so they don't show much color...I have the father of those fish in my 210 gallon and he's amazing...lots of color and a decent size. I'm going to let them get a little bigger and see where I go from there...eventually I'm sure they will start breeding!
geophagus get more colors? nice :D. do you have a video about plants in pots? this could be a usefull technique to learn :D.
Not yet, this is my first time doing it so I still have to make sure I have success!
I have one... should I buy a few more??
Yes, they do best in groups of 5 or more
betta live with tetra fish ?
Yes they can
hanks . try
hey what do you recommend for a good dither fish for a jardini?
Yes silver dollars are one of the best dithers for jardini and arowana in general, depending on tank size a school of bala shark or Apollo shark may also work but you know they both get pretty big so a big tank is a must
I have a tank (10 gallon) with 1 buenos aries, 4 neon tetras, 1 otoclinus and one pleco. Am I doing too much?
The pleco is the biggest issue, if its a common pleco it'll get way to big and produce a ton of waste for that size tank. Also 1 Bueno might be aggressive alone, it best if they be in groups
My one that I just got doesn't have much color. Will he get more color overtime?
They really need to be kept in schools, that encourage color and activity
Will they damage Anubias? Do they get along with Ancistrus and Giant Danios?
Yes they will, the only plant I've successfully kept them with is anacharis , and yes they can be kept with does fish
@@dwsdarius Thanks. Good to know.
Can i put them with guppies?
They may nip the fins of male guppies
Do they have teeth?
Yes they do have tiny teeth
Pronounce as buenos ....ire us tetras....
I have these fishes too.they live well with my barbs..
