What do you think of using waxes or silicons to prevent corrosion in the water jackets? Silicons reduce heat transfer and so can cause cars to boil over, but I doubt they will reduce it so much as to overheat a boat engine. actually I have tried it 2 or 3 times with no trouble. I also do what he did, run them in a bucket, but I intentionally try to get the cooling system to suck up as much used 2 stroke oil from the bucket as possible and use it to line the water jacket.

These videos could be 10x longer in my opinion. I just love all the intricate things you do. I really learn a lot. It's therapeutic watching someone so skilled do something like this. I could watch a long cut of this whole process in real time. If you ever made a second channel or something with basically raw footage, hours long videos, it would be a dream come true for me.

Never trusted Suzuki outboards. My 65 hp left me stranded several times and seldom worked right. Ended up buying the CDI brain module which cost $300. Had other problems after that so gave up and sold the boat and motor. My 200hp Johnson on the other hand worked perfectly for the 20+ years I owned it and it frequently went out 30-40 miles into the ocean on fishing trips. Glad you got yours running, hope it continues to run well.
Thanks Marty! Videos like this gave me the confidence to rebuild the carb on a 12 year old non-running lawn mower... and guess what? It's works awesome now :) You can give a man a fish....but if you teach him to fish... :)

Great trouble shooting / service tutorial. We had trouble with hard starting and gummed up carbs on our old 70 hp Johnson until we started to run it dry after each trip. Good as gold after that. Thanks for putting it together.
The wife must be excited every time you bring home a new project 😊. Glad you keep finding them though. This is one of the few “must watch” channels on UA-cam and I am always happy to see a new video posted.
Watching Marty clean those carburetors reminds me of how much trouble I have had in the past getting carburetors cleaned, adjusted and working properly. I have alot of equipment and vehicles still using carburetors. Watched one guy on YT who uses a blast cabinet with baking soda to do the initial cleaning. Then finishes up with an ultrasonic cleaner using a degreaser. I have a sand blast cabinet and recently bought a 30 ml ultrasonic cleaner so will be doing some experimenting with those. My first victim is a Holley 4150 4 barrel from my Chevy tandem axle.
